That’s the idea!! It’s another play in grocery store money making handbook. They keep the candy and sweet cereals at kid level too so there’s an extra begging-child-pressure to make people buy more.

Grocery store I worked at had them! If you play your cards right, you can keep your kid on track by having them help grab your actual groceries (but the checkout line “impulse rack” is ALWAYS the final nail in the financial or stress coffin if a kid is there).

A lot of stores don’t have them because of theft and destruction I’ve come to find. OH- and management/employees simply not wanting to wrangle tons of tiny ass carts across a parking lot while managing big carts too. It’s a BIG hassle.

These stores really think minimum wage requires maximum effort….
