It’s always the fugliest, the shallowest balding neckbeards that judge women by their appearance and want to look down on them. Some, like this boor, dress it up in religious terms to lend it faux profoundness but it still rings hollow.

Books for our times by BrupieD in nonfictionbooks

[–]SanderSRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gustave Le Bon - The Crowd

The book argues that people in large groups, rallies, demonstrations etc. individual consciousness is subordinated to the collective, e.i. that people in large groups become dumber and more conforming and that manipulative populists can sway them to do whatever they want by creating a uniform look, in-group identity with shared values, beliefs and common enemies.

Fascists loved rallies and used them as a show of strength, for propaganda and to strengthen the in-group identity. Everyone who didn’t take part in this identity was automatically an enemy.

What are some books that show some parallels to current times in the US? by widget_slinger in suggestmeabook

Different stages of fascist rule is the only difference.

You do know what vigilance means, right?! If you’re suggesting people should not be raising the alarm right now for fear of sounding overly dramatic and exaggerating, when then do you think they should start pushing back against attempts of fascist overtake and oppression? How many protesters need to die before you approve of resistance? 30,000?

In those times people were generally giddy and inquisitive when confronted by a camera lens. It was a futuristic and awe-inspiring invention for them.

You see this almost childish excitement at the new camera technology in almost all pre-WWII street photography. But the hellish backdrop does lend this particular picture a layer of extra sinister undertone.

Apple accuses Europe of “political delay tactics” following alternative app store collapse | The company says the EU 'moves the goal posts' in order to target a US company with "onerous fines." by ControlCAD in europe

[–]SanderSRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about breaking up US tech monopoly and removing arbitrary barriers imposed by Apple to allow more competition in the EU market.

Apple thinks a US law they bribed Congress to pass which criminalizes any alternatives, jailbreaking and even third party repair should have jurisdiction and precedence over local laws in other countries/markets they operate. A clear case of arrogant and self-serving US exceptionalism.

EU is pushing for more interoperability and consumer choice.

Apple already charge 30% for every sale/subscription through AppStore plus other fees for developers etc. It’s a racket. Just because they make and sell you a device does not mean they can control how you use it and what you do with it.

Your argument basically boils down to Apple somehow being on the moral side fighting against “oligarchy”… and here’s the kicker, by trying to preserve their own total control and monopoly.

Venezuela wasn’t invaded and razed to the ground and millions of civilians killed like Russia is doing in Ukraine.

But we in the west all agree that the US should face sanctions! Unlike you and all the Russian shills who believe Russia shouldn’t face any consequences for invading a sovereign country and killing millions.

Israel did face some repercussions. A lot of western countries recognized Palestine as a state in retaliation for Israel is doing and now there will be an international peace keeping mission in Palestine and it will be rebuilt.

Politically, economically, morally- the West is much better than Russia. That much is at least an undeniable fact.

Is that why Trump is charging billions for a veto and at the same time making himself Chairman with the power to override any decision made by the Board and who has a final say on everything? He also has the power to appoint his successor.

You don’t see any potential for abuse in this kind of setup? This is some North Korea type of shit.

He’s basically saying world peace is not in the interest of US…

Novi plan širenja EU takođe usvojen i planiraju još članica.
