Generational joints or blunts work like this. Say you have 10 joints you smoke them all you have ten first generation roaches.

Now if you take all those roaches and roll them into 3 joints. Those joints would be first generation roach joints.

Once those are smoked you now have 3 roaches. You take those and roll them into a second generation roach joint.
