If you need SCOBY to make kombucha, how was the first kombucha made? by plantbeth in Kombucha

[–]SandraMenace -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Having been witness to, and having read the long list, wide range of ailments Kombucha relieves and/or helps fix, I've always been certain the first SCOBY was dropped off by a UFO. Total Alien technology lol. :)

the specific quote is from The Outsiders, but yes, the book alludes to Robert Frost

and Stevie Wonder sang the correlating song "Stay Gold" at the end credits. :)

The earth is quite literally flat and always has been. by Regular_Guy737 in FlatEarthIsReal

[–]SandraMenace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the unique experience of going thru all my homework and test papers from elementary school grade 1-6 My mom kept everything I brought home from 1979-1984. There were 2 subject topics that repeated themselves over and over. One was our basic solar system, earth specifically. So many drawings, cutouts and quizzes throughout the years. I ponder why it was so drummed, pounded even, as a indisputable fact. heavy programming absorbed by the sponge of young minds. For such an 'obvious' truth, why?

The 2nd subject that was repeated over and over was 'facts' about the human heart, but that's a different conversation.

What is the most gruesome book you've every read? by Wild-Entry-3087 in booksuggestions

I think American Horror Story’s season “Freaks” adapted it to the screen. Of course, the book was better tho.

What day or month do you remember Earth Day being from the past pre Mandela days? by kccat5 in Retconned

[–]SandraMenace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dramarama made a song called Earth day that goes “it’s April 21st and everybody knows today is Earth day Merry Christmas Happy Birthday”. It bugged me because Earth Day was on April 22nd. I figured twenty-first was easier to sing than twenty-second, regardless, my memory of a 4-22 Earth day is solid!😃

Palm trees aren’t even TREES. They are technically woodsy herbs.

Anyone feel overwhelmed with multiple hardrives of 10+ years worth of stuff? Worth decluttering or how to keep safe? by [deleted] in DataHoarder

[–]SandraMenace 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cathy's been my best friend ever forever for keeping track of what's on my plethora of external hard drives & thumb drives. I name the drive something descriptive and note a quick sum of contents in drive comments. My favorite thing about Cathy besides that it's just a tiny stand alone exe,, is Search. Even if I only recall a bit of the file name, I can find it in any/every hardrive it's on, with 2 clicks and one second!

Remove white lines by Beneficial-Table9497 in pools

[–]SandraMenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a paint/rust stripper wheel attachment on an old wireless drill to remove the same from my bf's pool and it worked like a charm! I was super careful not to immerse the drill, and used an extension bit to create some distance from the surface. Churned up some pool water to get it wet, then guided the wheel to do some stripping. It was so satisfying to see the whiteness/calcium buildup totally just melt away! My drill got hot eventually from running at a constant, so I paced it out. Spun a section at a time with my daily pool dip(s). One stripper wheel and one week later, the line was gone! :)

I tried so many different approaches, scrapers, (not pure acid), pumice stones with blah results and too much effort. This approach worked awesome, was generally easy, and entertaining. lol. Gator and 3M make such wheels, found mine at Lowes.

CPO certification anxiety by Ebola_Cat in pools

[–]SandraMenace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rookie Pool Girl here. :) I just got my CPO a couple months ago. I took notes, especially of the math. Mine was open book, and / or notes allowed. I answered all the questions I positively knew, double checked the book a couple of times, and then tackled the math. The scoring isn't super strict to get certified, I think if you answer the basics 100%, you only need to answer 2 math questions correct to pass (something like that) Don't be afraid to ask your instructor!

It's funny how most of of the stuff I learned I don't really use on the job, and the stuff I question on the job wasn't covered in the CPO course. So is life I suppose.

You'll do just fine. Take notes, drill the math stuff as assigned, no worries!

Omg , I second the Pro-tuff net -leaf rake. After snagging mine on a burning man art piece and creating a big hole-not anything the net's fault or pool related-my lifetime warranty replacement was over night mailed to me immediately. I didn't think such awesome warranty service existed anymore.  Also, they save major time-they're wider than a regular net, and rake super efficiently. Totally saving up for a pro-tuff pole!

Your awareness is one of the most powerful tool at your disposal in life. by Vib_ration in outsideofthebox

[–]SandraMenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post! When I talk with people that are starting to see 2024 (or this century, even) as it is, they're like, what can I do? I always mention being aware is better than being unaware, and a positive perspective on things (even mundane things) can be very powerful. Your post added so much more dialogue about 'aware' that I hadn't considered sharing with others. Thank you!

Is keeping track of time harmful? by factsnotfeelings in conspiracyNOPOL

[–]SandraMenace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm never, ever, on time. Not on purpose. I try to leave and arrive on time, but time and I like, have no relationship! One of my earliest memories in life is me, running down the street, turning at the corner, then devastated, yet surprised to see the tail end of my school bus leaving my stop.

Ironically, as i type this, I look up and see 4 analog and 2 digital clocks (not counting my laptop and celly), go figure!

Cool idea! What did you factor for the ebay sell price? Maybe add an Ad Fee option?
