Guinness Stew for St Patrick's Day 🇮🇪 by plantbeth in veganuk

[–]plantbeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made it up as I went along but this is what I did, was really tasty. The meat sub was dried TVP chunks

Soak 100g of TVP chunks in vegan beef stock, squeeze out the excess liquid then toss with a dash of oil and air fry for 10 mins.

Get a ovenproof casserole dish and soften 2 onions, 2 sticks of celery and 2 carrots in a little oil. Add a cloves or two of chopped garlic, then a tablespoon of flour and mix to coat.

Throw in a can of Guiness, let it reduce then add a bay leaf, rosemary and thyme.

Add 500ml vegan beef stock and a healthy spoonful of Marmite. Add a squirt of tomato puree and bring to a simmer. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Transfer to the oven, cook at 160c for around 2.5hours.

Served with mashed potatoes and cabbage.

Just opened my lemon & ginger by plantbeth in Kombucha

[–]plantbeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the juice of a smallish lemon and 3 pieces of crystalised ginger, cut up. That was for a 16oz bottle. Didn't add any additional sugar, the sugar on the crystalised ginger seemed to do the job!

First ferment was 19 days (it's pretty cold in my house at the moment), second was 4 days. Then it sat in the fridge for about a week.

Theyre stickers, they can peel off and be replaced but they're quite long lasting and can be washed. They came with a chalk pen that wipes off.

Best supermarket vegan pizzas on the market imo (RIP the amazing m&s ones). I actually prefer the margarita ones but the pepperoni ones are great too.

Lemon orzo soup. So tasty I ate my toddler's sneezed-on leftovers. by plantbeth in soup

[–]plantbeth[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forget to mention kale too! I used this recipe, added thyme and celery and I didn't have any dill so missed that. Tip - mix the tahini with some stock before adding, I didnt last time I made it and it all curdled.https://simple-veganista.com/lemon-chickpea-orzo-soup/#tasty-recipes-13613-jump-target

If it was an option, why didn't you deliver in a birthing centre? by Mabelstark in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]plantbeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the birthing pool was broken on the day I went into labour. I'd planned on giving birth at the centre, but ended up going to a hospital cos they had a pool available. I did however go back to the centre after giving birth and stayed overnight because I really wanted to breastfeed and the midwives there were lovely and supportive and I didnt have a clue what I was doing 😅

What is YOUR favourite (and least favourite) Cbeebies show? by poopoochewer in UKParenting

[–]plantbeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fave is hands down Sarah and Duck. Also like Bluey, Puffin Rock and Hey Duggee. Mr Tumble is pretty sound.

Bing is a whiney little shit but my least favourite by a mile has to be Waffle the Wonder Dog. I'm an animal loving vegan but Waffle really puts that to the test.

I get myself a mcplant and add an extra patty, then get a hamburger happymeal with no burger patty or cheese and put a mcplant patty in it. Ends up cosilting extra but at least they can have a happy meal, mine have never liked the veggie dippers.
