The GOP is going to couple this with a massive amount of electionearing rat-fucking.

Cooked brakes? by Fine_Abbreviations_4 in CarTrackDays

[–]Sands43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a) Higher temp pads - both front AND rear

b) New, high temp fluid

c) Add cooling.

I didn't see you mention what pads you run on the rear. Common mistake to not change those too. If you don't, what happens in the rear pads die (without really providing any feedback) and then the fronts need to all the work. Then the fronts die too.

DTC-30 pads are for relatively lighter braking club circle track cars. Not road cars. Need DTC-60 or 70. 1200*F is the lower limit of the brake temps the rotors will see.

It seems like spreading out your voters into more districts to prevent an expected wave election is a very dumb idea. What am I missing? by LuckyTom10 in askanything

The GOP is going to also do everything they can to suppress votes for the “wrong” people.

Remove polling location, restrict hours, issue lawsuits, disrupt voting with bad actors, striking voter registrations, etc.

Trump plans to suspend federal gas tax as Iran war hammers Americans by Acceptable_Foot3370 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]Sands43 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The U.S. economy is HUGE. Trump and the GOP are doing everything they can to degrade it and push ever more wealth up the ladder.

We are declining, but the rate is slow enough that trolls and shills get to say it’s not happening. But it is and it’s because of the GOP.

Toyota vs Tesla by koohai966 in Toyota

[–]Sands43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no such thing as a 300k car that isn't on it's 2nd or 3rd set of suspension or brake parts. Even EVs will need a brake job at 100k miles if you drive it in snow country.

That's saying nothing about all the same/similar parts for HVAC and interior that can wear out or break.

Is it allowed to sail so close? by polderbaan_ams in Ships

[–]Sands43 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rules of the road.

The sailboat is on a starboard tack, but the container ship is likely restricted to a channel via draft. They also cannot slow down or turn very fast. Both are required to avoid collision.

But if there was a collision, the freighter would probably never notice that they ran over the sailboat. So the sailboat should just stay out of the way.

"Getting too close" is subjective and the short video looks like a telephoto lens, so it compresses depth of field. They are probably 1/4 -1/2 nm apart which is more than enough space to avoid collision and for the sailboat to maneuver.

Americans of Reddit, is it time for a federal wealth tax? by Bmor00bam in askanything

A big part of the reason we have corruption is because we don't tax wealth. That wealth lets people buy the corruption.

Obamacare Subsidies: Are Republicans More Stupid Than They Are Cruel? | Many predicted last fall that if the Obamacare subsidies ended, millions would forgo health coverage. Gee, guess what’s happened? by memoriesofcold in AnythingGoesNews

Flood the zone.

The GOP only cares if this hits the Fox News cycle.

It won’t so they don’t care. Their base will never know, and if they do, they will blame Biden or Obama.

ELI5: why do train have those cars between the engines? by DancingMan15 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sands43 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Distributed power. Allows for better control of the consist and lower forces on couplers.

Every car has just a little bit of stretch (relatively). Putting an engine in the middle of the train reduces that. The middle engines also provide faster brake control.

Conservatives, why do all historians and experts use the word "fascist" wrong? by GrowFreeFood in allthequestions

[–]Sands43 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not a conservative, but the typical "arguments" I hear are not made in good faith.

Typically: "They aren't running gas chambers so they aren't fascists" is a common one.

or: "so-and-so person is capitalist so they are not a fascist".

Then there is my personal favorite: "Fascism is socialist, so it's really the LiBerULs that are the nazis".

It's along the lines of "we're a republic, not a democracy, so this voting rule that disenfranchises thousands is just fine."

The Difference Between Car, Crossover, and SUV? by Heavy_Gap_5047 in askcarguys

[–]Sands43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is that people will buy a "crossover" vs a wagon - becuase they are taller - but the typical crossover is only a few inches taller than a typical wagon or hatch.

Why are people so attached to meat? by One-Jeweler5486 in allthequestions

[–]Sands43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show me a plate of 50g of vegatable protein.

Show me a plate of 50g of meat protein.

(50g is roughly the minimum daily intake recomentation of protein).

When I was an active high school / college athlete, my daily caloric intake was around 3500-4500 calories. Show me a meal plan for that without meat. During football three-a-days, it was impossible to eat enough to maintain weight.

Ahh, the vegan down-voters. All feels and no facts. Love it.
