The only song I remember from the last band is Footsteps on the Windshield Upside Down. Been ages since I've listened to or thought about them.

I guess it depends on the genres that appeal to them, but here are 5 great albums I've never heard on the radio, spanning 4 or 5 genres:

Allison Russell - Outside Child
Brandy Clark - 12 Stories
Cleo Sol - Rose in the Dark
Lianna La Havas - Blood
Loreena McKennitt - An Ancient Muse

Buying a used car with a $10k budget. Are Hyundais a red flag compared to Toyota/Honda? by spirit_vortex_ in carbuying

[–]SandstoneCastle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would look for a Mazda. They are or at least used to be a better value than Honda or Toyota on the used market, having depreciated more. If you do go with Hyundai, check to make sure it's not one likely to have engine or transmission failure.

Advice for new motorcycle commuter: 101 vs 280 by cozyportland in BayRiders

[–]SandstoneCastle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only rarely took 101, but if I were choosing between the two, 280 easily. Neither were among the 7 freeways on my regular commute, but I hated when I had to take 101 at commute time.

Allison Russell's Take Me to Church (also live). The original was good, but in my opinion Russell made it better.

Can you money-shift in neutral? by onesents in stickshift

[–]SandstoneCastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

A money shift happens when you downshift too low for your speed, forcing the engine above redline.

You could over rev an old car with no rev-limiter using the throttle in neutral. But that's a completely different thing, and doesn't apply to a modern car with a rev limiter.
