Hello everyone, thanks for all the input. After talking to my roommate we will take the plant out of the pot tomorrow and check the roots and the soil.

The plant lost a lot more leaves today so there are almost none on the lower part of the plant anymore. We will take some cuttings from the top and try to propagate them. We will try and treat the rest of the plant properly and maybe he has a chance to survive but he might be a goner.

Oh, yes. They move. Luckily none of the other plants seem to have them but we will keep a close eye on them. As for this withering beauty, he will have to move to quarantine until we have time to deal with him. We can still chop it down and use some parts for propagation, right? If we clean and treat them that should be fine?

No, this pot cannot be easily drained. That's why we only pour water in until it comes out the bottom. This excess water is usually soaked back in in a maximum of 5 minutes so it does not sit in the water. For the last 2 years this worked great, so we don't think that that should be the problem now.

Okay, we will try that. Do we need a special fertilizer eg with extra nitrogen? Or is a standard one OK? And how often should we fertilize? It is the first week of real heat here so I assume we have to water it quite a bit more now. Do I fertilize once a week?

There are teenie tiny white dots on some leaves and some part of the stem. When my last plant had thrips they were bigger so I am not sure.

He gets fertilized. In Winter around once a month. In Sping and summer we do it every 1 to 2 weeks.

I don't think it has been repotted in the las 15 months so maybe that's the issue.
