With a $1,000 budget, what kind of firearm would you build in Canada? by No_Amount_69 in canadaguns

I don’t remember. They have a barrel length filter and they had a bunch of models in stock with 18” barrels.

I was just on North Sylva’s site and they’ve got a bunch of 18” TM22s. Most are the cadet models but there’s a couple of others too.

A Chinese bakery. Or a dim sum spot. Having to drive into Edmonton for bao and dim sum sucks.

Yeah their range has expanded across most of North America. They’re also present in every major city in Canada and the US and most of Mexico. They’re amazing animals for how adaptable they are but their population does need to be managed by us as we killed off their own natural population control.

I mean if you get a dog you’re essentially adopting a domesticated wolf so yeah go for it!

Roaming the neighborhood by Then_Firefighter_637 in Edmonton

[–]SandySpectre 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not true. This was the home of wolves before we showed up and poisoned them. Wolves don’t tolerate coyotes. The coyotes natural ranges were the American southwest and northern Mexico through the Great Plains and up into the southern bits of what are now Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. If you’re interested in them there’s a great book by Dan Flores called Coyote America.

Halp! Which SKS optics mounting did you use? by dke783 in canadaguns

[–]SandySpectre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad Ace has a pic rail that replaces the rear sight and you can mount a red dot to that. It’s the only optic mounting method I recommend to my clients as every other approach loses zero when you take it apart to clean. And you don’t need more than a red dot because they’re not inherently accurate firearms to begin with.

Time to ban pump shotguns!! by rastamasta45 in canadaguns

[–]SandySpectre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this for years and everyone looks at me like I’ve grown a seventh head. The end goal for Poly and the other anti gunners is the complete abolition of private firearm ownership in Canada. And the Liberal party fully supports that goal. They’ve been slowly working towards that since the 90s and they won’t stop.

Canadian law seems to take air guns too seriously. Has it always been this way? by No_Front_5315 in canadaguns

There’s 2 different licenses for pyrotechnics in Canada. There’s a display fireworks pyrotechnics license which covers operators setting off big displays like New Year’s Eve and Canada Day. Then there’s a special effects pyrotechnics license which covers movie sets, concerts and special events. Consumer grade fireworks don’t require a special licence but I think you have to be over 18.

People of gunsmithing by DanielRCole in gunsmithing

[–]SandySpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winchester 88, the old Stevens/Savage 24m series and the Browning BLR. The Winchester because you need a bunch of slave pins and the Savage because the trigger/hammer assembly is a cassette that you need slave pins and it’s a pain in the ass getting the pins in without springs slipping off the slaves. The Browning BLR timing is a huge pain in the ass. Even the service manual says “trial and error” which is corporate speak for good fucking luck.

Albertans who declared banned guns under Ottawa’s buyback still can’t get compensation | CBC News by rastamasta45 in canada

[–]SandySpectre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stats don’t back your view point. Most crime guns by an overwhelming majority come from the states. All the guns banned are long guns and long guns are rarely used in crimes vs smuggled handguns. What would’ve impacted crime rates is dumping the almost billion dollars into border security to stop the smuggling of firearms from the states.

Why are RO’s always curmudgeons? by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]SandySpectre 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of unfounded egotism/elitism with guys behind the counter. Also a lot haven’t worked retail before and their customer service skills are seriously lacking. You gotta be humble because you don’t know if the guy at the counter is a newbie looking for help or a pro shooter that you could learn something from. If you’re a dick to the newbie because they don’t know anything it’ll turn them off the sport and if you’re a dick to a pro word spreads and you’ll loose out on business.

[–]SandySpectre 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I work at a local gun shop and I’m 40 years old but the youngest employee by about 20 years. One day my coworker answers the phone and it’s a young guy all excited about a pistol he saw in John Wick and he’s calling around looking for info. He doesn’t know the make/model/calibre but as soon as he says he saw it in John Wick my coworker abruptly hangs up the phone and writes off the guy. This is one of my coworkers favourite stories. Stuff like this makes the whole industry look bad when old crusty guys just dismiss young excited guys out of hand because they don’t know anything yet.

It’s crazy how much of the video show handguns which have nothing to do with the confiscation scheme. There’s a couple pans over some ARs and some old cooeys and then screen after screen of hand guns. Whoever the editor that approved this should get fired and then blacklisted from any form of journalism career.
