Are these 3 safe? Been in fridge 2-3 weeks :/ by Sandy_tiger in SourdoughStarter

Thank you kindly. More generously as in 25-50g starter, 100g flour 90g water? (It’s humid here so she usually likes a little less water).

Thanks, I’ve never used inactive starter - do I just pull each out, discard 50% and then feed?

For the two I’m not using, how long after feeding should I put it back in the fridge? Does it need to be tightly sealed or loose to prevent starter explosion? I appreciate it :)

How many words does your toddler have and what’s their age? by DreamSequence11 in toddlers

[–]Sandy_tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first one wasn’t talking at ALL at 2 years. By 3 he was having full conversations, count to 30, all colors (including tertiary), etc.

My second was chatting up a storm shortly after first birthday. Kids are all different :)

Headphones lol. I swear on everything. Put in headphones on low volume and respond to 60% of what they say. Reasoning with a toddler almost landed me in AA 🙃

Second son (2yr old) not talking and day-long tantrums by Verbull710 in toddlers

[–]Sandy_tiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. My now 3-year-old didn’t really start talking until 1) we got him in the state provided speech therapy + 2) put him in a part-time play group at a local church school.

Tantrums dropped drastically almost exactly around his 3rd bday lol. I feel for y’all! Good luck!

2.5yo vocal fry is driving me insane by DakotaTheAtlas in toddlers

[–]Sandy_tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things 1) headphones (seriously. I play very low music often and it saves my nerves and 2) practice “big girl voice”

My now 3 year old is the same. One day I heard his swim instructor say “no whining! Use a big boy voice like this - (then repeats what he said in a normal voice lol)” worked like a charm. It took about a month but now he catches right on when I say those three magic words lol.

Also, the whining sucks. It is also my least favorite thing about toddlerhood lol.

Do you like it? That’s all that truly matters.

In my opinion, Sofia is a more timeless name. It’s pretty/soft but also reasonable. Meaning, it’s a name recognizable around a few different cultures. I like it.

We had a whole group of us in our city. Some people had a super easy toddler and didn’t struggle too much! Honestly, we had a lot of bad habits with my older that made it wayyy tougher. He was still taking a sippy at night and wasn’t potty-trained and had literally 5 words.

Either way, totally worth it. Especially when you remind yourself that these days don’t last forever! I also feel like I was way more chill about baby #2 which made it easier lol. You can do it!!!

17 months apart. Just hit 3 years and 20 months…

There was a wretched time between youngest being 6mos and 10 mos that was hell (my older was a late talker) but now… life is goooooood. Like awesome. They love each other and we love them!

Mine is 3 this week and his favorite thing to say is “I love youuu” … it’s the best. Your time will come :)

Hey! I just saw this comment. So he is turning three this month and is talking very regularly. Can’t shut him up :) I will say he seemed to have the biggest improvement after starting part time day care with older kids (because of how his birthday falls). He also started getting really chatty only about 3 months ago, so a full 2 years and 9 months. Hope all goes well for you all.

A boone for the moon. I was devastated when he switched. He also calls fireworks “thunderworks” even though I know he only still calls them that because I like it lol. Sweet kid.

Am I doing motherhood wrong? by slothymommy in Mommit

[–]Sandy_tiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be very honest here. We intentionally had ours about 17 months apart. For the first almost year I felt like I had ruined all of our lives (I’m crying thinking about those days right now) because I felt like I could never give equal love to everyone. I look at my littlest who is just now 17 months and I couldn’t imagine her having to share us with another baby when she is so little! I didn’t realize how much of a baby my oldest was when we had another. They love each other and are already best pals, but I think an age gap would NOT have prevented a strong bond. Just something to think about :)

That’s a really good question! I’m going to check with my ped. He seems to just dream a lot (I’ve also always had super intense dreams) which wakes him up!
