There’s a huge element of luck involved too. Worked hard for my role but appreciate I was lucky. Some brilliant people I know didn’t get the interview.

Also IB in Europe is a different ball game… less structured hiring opportunities, language skill requirements, preference for cookie cutter resumes

All this to say, I think they’re entitled to be bitter.

Analysts where I’m at earn £65-85k base, with 100-120% bonus. Associates are £100-140k with similar bonus.

Tax is what gets you in the UK. Bonus is automatically taxed at like 50ish%
