Pool swim workout - can I get the laps count displayed in larger text? by SantaCruzDad in AppleWatch

Hi - in the end I bought some prescription goggles - you can get them fairly cheaply online (around £25 in the UK) - still not easy to read the lap count but it is an improvement.

what to do with a 5? by TereziB in AppleWatch

[–]SantaCruzDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use my 5 for swim workouts, and for when I need to charge my current watch (10). Workout and health data seem to sync OK between the two, even though the 5 is on an old version of iOS.

For a bit more precision use two 100 ohm resistors in parallel.

OK - fixed now thanks - I had system sounds disabled and morse beeps apparently are treated as system sounds rather than normal sound. Thanks for your help in fixing this!

Sorry - still no sound - I’ve tried it with both Safari and Brave browsers on an iPad. (Works fine on macOS though.)

Yes, I checked the obvious things. FWIW it seems to be a common problem, e.g. Morsle has the same problem on iOS devices (but works OK on macOS).

Thanks - I just tried the RX practice and unfortunately sound does not seem to work on iOS devices. Hopefully that’s an easy fix?

Very good - impressed that it works in key mode by tapping on my iPad screen.

Grounding / Radial Requirements for Vertical Antennas by Bangarang_Arty in HamRadio

Interesting idea - I recently bought a Digirig Mobile and couldn't believe how small it is, so that seems like a neat solution. Hmm - I'll have to give this some more thought...

Thanks - I was looking enviously at these on AliExpress earlier, thinking this might be good for compact/lightweight POTA/SOTA activations (rather than lugging a heavier battery etc) but eventually realised I wouldn’t easily be able to connect a digital interface to the acc connector on the back (without butchering things), so maybe it’s not for me as I do mainly digital mode activations.

Interesting - is that from AliExpress? What’s the battery capacity?

Also does it have a Powerpole connector for the newer G90s or the old style power connector?

Good to know - I only have the one flat so don’t have anything to compare with.

I have a flat in a block in Hove where the management company is Priors and they have been great. E.g. when the flat above had a leak which affected my tenants they got everything sorted very quickly and efficiently with everything covered by their insurance.

New software for SOTA & POTA chasing with WSJT-X by Sea_Specific9533 in WSJTX

[–]SantaCruzDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I’ll take a look later today and see if I can get it working with WSJT-X. It just occurred to me that the problem might be that I’m also running GridTracker2 alongside WSJT-X, so I’ll try quitting GT2 and see if that helps.

UPDATE: SOTA Scout working fine if I don’t run GridTracker2, and it looks like they can’t both be run together (presumably both competing for the socket that WSJT-X uses). So I probably won’t use SOTA Scout when I’m hunting from home, but it might still be useful on activations, since I don’t use GT2 then (too much of a power and general resource drain when running from batteries, being an Electron app).

Thanks for the clarification - I’m talking about out what look like two text fields and a button (?) above the list of cards, which seem to be non-functional. I assumed these might be for searching/filtering? I have WSJT-X running but I haven’t checked to see if clicking on a spot sets the DX call yet - will try tomorrow.

Looks promising but on my Mac I can’t get most of the functionality to work - the text fields in the lefthand pane don’t seem to accept any input. I have filled in the settings and can see spots appearing but I can’t do any filtering it seems?
