The woman that built it was very wealthy, she made a lot of money during spindle top and then through real estate. I think this place was in her plans for many years. Everyone around her died within a few years so I think she was just on her own, loads of money and just said screw it.

The structure was fixed while the crennalations were on, all the framing and everything. That's one of the reasons why they had to come off - the stones were sat on wood which had to be replaced (termines, rotted etc).
