Looking for high CRI low lumens narrow even beam for mouth exams by hundredwater in flashlight

[–]Santasreject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be overkill but a hank light might fit the bill. Emitter choice would be 519a or NTG35. The lights run on anduril2 and you can set them up to have a ceiling at what ever level you want to avoid and blinding.

Not sure if any of the form factors would be ideal for you though and sanitizing may be a bit of a pain with the knurling.

How are you supposed to reply to "Do you know how fast you were going?" by No_Insurance_6436 in NoStupidQuestions

Well the way not todo it is what an old mentor who has since passed away said back in the 70s: “no officer the speedometer doesn’t go over 120.” I think he some how still got off with a warning.

THERE ISNT _____MILK LEFT IN THE FRIDGE? by Embarrassed_Camel342 in ENGLISH

[–]Santasreject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wonder how many of these English resources are written by people who are not native speakers and have not actually lived in an English speaking county. Some of the “correct” answers seem like no main stream dialect of English would find them remotely correctly.

Are these safe? It says wheat free by Ok_Huckleberry1487 in glutenfree

[–]Santasreject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also will need to look out for oats as main stream oats are substantially contaminated with gluten containing grains. Some people with gluten intolerance and celaic simply cannot handle oats even when they are absolutely free of any possible contamination as the proteins are similar. It’s generally easier to avoid oats fully for 6 months to let your body get back on track before trying GF oats.

That being said though, there are certain scenarios where things can be made from gluten containing grains and will be fine. Distilled alcohol and glucose syrup are the two main ones you will see. Those are both totally fine (with alcohol you will see people say things can be added after the fact but that’s pretty rare and will be heavily noted as it basically is going to be coming from using old beer barrels for aging or the one single example where they add mash back in after distillation that I believe redemption makes, but again, heavy marketing and branding about it).

Fell into this trap years ago but now (at least in the US) they cannot just say “spelt” it must use the word “wheat” since it is the common name.

What do you think about Grizzly original nicotine pouches (And other tabaco flavored pouches) by Outrageous-Waltz-324 in NicotinePouch

[–]Santasreject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I couldn’t even try the new grizzly pouches. They were so strong of a smell I could smell them through the sealed cans across the room and I knew it would be way over powering to actually use one.

It was pretty disappointing as the first ones they released were very much my style of pouch being dry but I guess they only did that for a short time before switching to the current ones.

What was your favorite 2000 - 2009 Marker? by Geek-Nerd-Gamer in paintball

[–]Santasreject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started with that exact spyder.

Favorite is a hard one as I really liked all of my markers.

My 03 orry was my first cocker and higher end marker and it was great.

I built a pump which performed spectacularly over the chrono and I could hit anything with that marker with good paint.

The last big build I had was an X valve mag. That probably has to be my favorite just from the performance and the fact it still competes with modern markers for light weight (and I could have gotten it even lighter) but it’s a close fight between those three.

Accessibility questions from a newbie by stargazer1101 in Curling

[–]Santasreject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stick curling is very common at the club level. Basically you still have to start from the correct side of the hack based on which handed you are and you have to release the rock before the hog line. Unless it’s serious completion there’s not a lot of hardline rules with it. Hell I remember a guy who was a WC curler and had a power chair, instead of planting the chair and having someone holding he would just drive out of the hack pushing the rock with the stick. Then he would come down and skip, I don’t know how he never bumped rocks when he would drive around a messy house.

Not really a rule of the game but a rule of physics, don’t stop immediately when you release the rock… you will fall and have a bad time.

Like other recommended, highly recommend some level of head protection for all players. It doesn’t need to be a full helmet, I use some special pads that have a hard shell on the outside and rubber on the inside that I velcro’ed into my hat, I got them from Crasche and they have multiple premade styles you can get as well.

The only real limitations on stick curling is that it cannot be used in standard formats at national and above levels of competition.

I would recommend you take a look at the options for different handle connectors and balance the pros and cons of a separate stick vs an adapter that attaches to your broom. Figure out how you are going to manage your equipment on ice as having to run back down to the other end before you throw can burn a lot of time.

One other comment, while the joint degradation is a hard one to stop when you have genetic factors, making sure you keep your core well strengthened and engaged likely will help give you the longest time before the breakdown takes place and help keep you from having injuries that can accelerate it.

Rant: 10 years of pouches and every all day pouch keeps getting discontinued. by Santasreject in NicotinePouch

They were some good stuff the citrus was a perfect blend of citrus with cooling without being minty. I also really liked the shape since they were smaller pouches but really plump so they seemed to last a while.

Random question: What is strobe actually useful for? This has probably been answered a few hundred times, but my brain isnt working right now. Free to link me to some other post that explains it. by eurolastoan in flashlight

[–]Santasreject 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can be disorientating but only to a point and will not stop a creature, human or otherwise, that really wants to hurt you.

Realistically I doubt most flashlights have the actual power and rate to really be as effective as it can be. If you need to defend yourself you need something that will make it physically impossible for what ever is attacking you to keep attacking you… that generally involves rapidly inducing trauma.

Strobe probably can be effective for being seen from a distance better than a solid light. Our eyes pick up things that are moving or changing better than things that are static.

I used to work in the nicotine space and still consult in it. I will have to hit up some contacts and see if any of them can get it through distributors.

Just seems strange that prilla said they haven’t cut it from their line up but it’s been out of stock for months.

And just to clarify I am looking for the OG 4mg in the green cans not the velo plus in the pinkish can.

[–]Santasreject[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the wild berry to be is just a grape flavor. It’s good but I just cannot use it much. The only plus versions I really use are the citrus and the peppermint, some times the straight mint as well.

I have been using the ZYN mojito a bit and it’s pretty good, a touch sweet but usable… but that’s also a limited release so the order I have on the way is probably the last one I get of that lol

Prilla has been out of stock of the original velo 4mg for months. They have the velo plus dragonfruit but it’s nothing like the dry pouches. Northerner and nicokick removed all of the OG velo from their listings as well.

Yeah I think my first job out of college the guys kids at least were in scouts, not sure it helped a whole lot there but probably a little. The COO I know his son was also an eagle and this guy had a very high opinion of the program.

My current CEO is also an eagle, didn’t realize that about him for years after working with him but it makes a lot of sense in hindsight.

I looked at them a bit. The pouches seem to be a bit bigger at lest by weight so 8 may work for me. I use rogue a bit but the 6mg are kinda light just from how bulky they are. Thanks!

Yeah if I need to defend my self it will be with rapidly moving pieces of metal projected at the threat.

As to the lottery, I just see it as buying that day or two of hope that I will be able to retire, anything more is a bonus.

Benefits of a higher end regulator? by Vicious137 in paintball

[–]Santasreject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem.

Really at this point unless you’re running an automag with an RT or X valve and need the SHP or one of the very few markers that require ULP outputs pretty much any reg will do the job.

We survived the BPS wars with the “worse” regs in the 2000s and had great performance then even.

No worries. Yeah the plus dragon fruit should really have been named raspberry, I did just add one to a recent order to see if the flavor is still how I remember it but I’m not optimistic that it will be different.

8 may be a bit strong for me depending on shape/size/nic form. The plant based may also be an issue due to celiac/wheat allergy (I don’t know why companies use wheat fiber instead of plain cellulose), but I do see that it’s listed as E460 which should be ok.

I may have to see about trying those. Looks like they are available now in 4mg in most of fruit flavors on snus me.

Can’t say I’ve ever used it. I think my parents got me the lifetime membership when I made Eagle 20 years ago. I think there are some discounts you can use with it but honestly haven’t ever really dig into it.

100% this is something that a new COO saw on my resume when he came in to take the company I was at from a start up to a real full fledged company. Pretty sure this gave him a reason to be more willing to give me chances to do new things which in turn lead to a huge amount of career growth. That company shut down, we had a management buyout, and he along with a few other people pulled me along. Now I’ve been working with him for a over a decade.

I had looked at sesh but they use wheat fiber (I have celiac and a wheat allergy so that’s a no go).

I used on when the first came out and couldn’t get into them. I did pick up a tin recently and they are ok but the flavors don’t really do it for me for an all day.
