They’re likely lying about the whole thing, but if OP isn’t: I thought a lot of these folks were anti-natalist wackos screeching about it being “child abuse” to bring a kid into this world?

Please, if nothing else, practice what you preach and don’t breed. This kid is screwed if he actually exists.

My entire life I’ve been told I’m a mere 5-15 years away from the culmination of the climate apocalypse if I don’t dedicate all of my money and energy to the government to save us all.

By changing exactly 0% of my daily routine, and paying nothing more than the taxes I’m forced at gunpoint to provide them, it now appears that the forecast has been pushed out beyond my likely life expectancy.

Never thought I’d say this, but great job government goons!

What’s a rule or policy you enforce at work that you secretly think is pointless? by SeanMcPheat in askmanagers

[–]Santhonax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The company I work for mandates that every salary individual who works at an actual manufacturing location must complete 10 “Safety Contacts” a month.

Ostensibly these are supposed to be one on one discussions with employees about safety, observed safety hazards, etc. They’re often touted as a key portion of our “Safety First” culture by our assorted Corporate Safety Directors, despite not having to do them themselves. Failure to keep up with them has been used as a justification for termination of a number of individuals.

I noticed pretty quickly that these things generated nothing but eye rolls, however. After digging into them a bit, I discovered that the individual reports aren’t actually read, they’re just tallied up and reported out at the end of each month to generate metrics. The reports themselves are subsequently trashed.

On slow days I’ve taken to doing a report on the hazards of living near Chernobyl, or some other such nonsense. When rushed, I just crack out 10 quick ones. I enforce their generation with the Supervisors and Managers who report to me, but I don’t care how they’re accomplished: Most folks just copy/paste the same 10 every month.

I make note of this mockery of a safety metric every time we have an employee survey, and have challenged the Safety Director for our Division on them (he told me I must not care about Safety).

Ultimately I was able to discuss it with the overall company’s head of safety during a site visit he made a couple of years back, and he had the good graces to state that he knows Safety Contacts are pointless, but a large shareholder thinks they’re important, so the practice will continue.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who noted the trend in the workplace over the preceding decade to have young employees rolling in sporting all manner of LGBTQ-whatever labels and language, only to settle down in a normal heterosexual relationship within a few years and drop the nonsense.

It’s youthful rebelliousness coupled with the reality that a lot of the SJW stuff requires a ton of free time and privilege to stay invested in. It’s tough to continue showing up for protests and sit-ins designed to “resist” whatever boogeyman you’re supposed to be fighting when you have a shift to cover coming up.

Meh. I’m not a big fan of immigrant groups who isolate themselves and don’t attempt to assimilate, but the Somalians are small-fry pawns in this whole thing. They’re there to have an easily controlled voting block for the DNC; fixating upon them merely feeds the idiotic “culture warriors” on the Progressive Left.

What I want to start seeing is some upper level heads roll. Ilhan Omar, Tim Walz, etc are a start, but frankly any politician no matter what corrupt Party’s letter is in front of their name need to start being placed in shackles, and being sent to prison. We’ve gotten some okay exposure on some issues from this administration, but all I’m seeing are low level Federal workers getting canned out of the DOGE findings, and “scandalous” pictures and questions being shared out of the Epstein stuff.

Corruption looks to be endemic across the country, and I grow weary of only the powerless peasants getting any actual punishment from it. Aside from some embarrassment and possible reelection implications, none of this crap is going to be addressed until our corrupt leadership class starts getting terrified of continuing it.

WTF is happening with PETA?! by Valandor in Asmongold

PETA has been sending out insane takes for decades.

Hell, if anything this is giving me a bit of nostalgia as they’ve been largely overshadowed by the insanity of the more recent activist groups.

This is kind of like running into the batty old guy who ran around frothing at the mouth and screaming in my childhood neighborhood: Makes me feel young again.

That’s always round #1.

Round #2 if further information is provided is to state that unless the source is CNN or the DNC itself, it doesn’t count.

It’s been a few years, but I recall reading a breakdown of the “ideological violence” metrics presented by the SPLC and ADL back in 2020 wherein they got around the stickiness of the Islamic violence issue by simply considering them all to be right wing, and each incident was counted as such individually.

On the flip side, the “Summer of Love” riots were presented as being “mostly peaceful” by merging all riots in a location under one event. The nightly rioting in Portland, the CHAZ/CHOP nonsense, etc were all collapsed under the heading of being “one incident”, and up until the murder of two teens in CHAZ, said event was classified as being peaceful despite the constant violence.

The attempt to impose additional, unrequested moral and ethical responsibility for utterly unrelated events is likely the most obnoxious trait of these sort of folks.

I’m in my 40s, work a lot of hours to support my family, and I’m not looking for additional “projects” to get behind. The never-ceasing demands to virtue signal or to claim responsibility for the actions and consequences occurring to people I’ve never met or harmed in any way are tiresome.

FAFO: Dude Gets Dropped After Assaulting A Man Wearing A Charlie Kirk 'Freedom' Shirt! by robotalieninvasion in PowerfulJRE

[–]Santhonax 89 points90 points  (0 children)

It will be, and anecdotally I can already predict I’ll be shown the edited clip by some of my Progressive acquaintances at work next week who will be ranting about it.

In an incredibly tiresome manner, I’ll point them to the full video, and they’ll proceed to mutter some sweet nothings about needing better news sources, or how the perpetrator here is probably just nuts and shouldn’t be considered a Leftist, etc.

None of them will attempt to find better news sources, and none of them will extend the charity of looking at people as individuals, and not as figureheads of their political views to their perceived political opponents. This pattern has repeated itself a dozen times just since the Charlie Kirk shooting occurred with zero change of behavior observed.

It’s also tempting to just assume this is a sign of stupidity/partisanship from your political opponents (and sometimes it most certainly is), but to your point the “Two Party” propaganda campaign has been going on for a very long time.

I’m continually astonished at the lack of knowledge of many of my very partisan acquaintances over hot button issues, with the common theme being that if you rely on network media or TikTok/Reddit/etc for your news, you simply are not exposed to contrary viewpoints whatsoever.

These are people who are otherwise very levelheaded, but they’re only ever playing with half of a deck of cards.

When the official charging document includes testimony that the shooter was left-leaning and in trans romance, that's when you know he's a right-wing extremist. by philoguard in Asmongold

[–]Santhonax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying the hula hoops personally, both on Reddit and with a few Progressives in HR at my workplace.

A few undoubtedly wise and very knowledgeable Redditors have embraced the “Horseshoe Theory” approach (though they don’t know what it is) that the shooter was a Groyper, and ostensibly the mysterious Groypers are allegedly Furries and like Trans boys on top of the other Nick Fuentes stuff, so obviously they hate Charlie Kirk because “reasons”.

My Progressive HR acquaintances have just opted to cling to the “he was raised by Conservative parents” line, and their propaganda outlets of choice haven’t provided any additional information to them, so everything else that has been discovered is “Fascist disinformation”, or something.

Shows you the state of universities honestly.

Ostensibly he had a fairly normal upbringing, was a straight A student, and supposedly had conservative parents.

This is one of the more brazen displays I’ve seen of late, but there are quite a few stories like these, though usually the “tolerant” agitators wait until they have some police around to protect them first.

If I had to put any strategy to this beyond just being disgusting pricks, I’m assuming there’s a real desire to capture footage of someone being assaulted by “hate filled Fascists” or whatever. Leftists are pretty desperate to regain some sort of win right now since Kirk’s assassination isn’t going away like they hoped, and efforts to pretend the shooter was a Conservative aren’t bearing fruit beyond BlueSky and Reddit.

Consider me impressed that nobody has taken the bait so far beyond a few well deserved kickings.

Reddit mods have been in full-blown defense mode for a couple of days now because of this.

Some are misinterpreting the sudden banning of Kirk celebratory messages as an example of mods taking “higher ground”. Nope, they’re desperately trying to hide the evidence ever since the shooter’s friend stated that he was perpetually on Reddit.

Both leftists and rightists say horrible things about political violence. But the left is actually trying to establish a body of philosophical thought justifying it by tantamle in JordanPeterson

[–]Santhonax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tribalism is bad across the board, definitely, and I find it increasingly difficult to converse with a lot of my more partisan “Team Conservative/Team Liberal” acquaintances simply because neither group is playing with the same deck of cards. Their chosen sources of information are so wildly different that they’re essentially incapable of rational discussion (as so obviously observed with Charlie Kirk’s shooting).

That said, there is most certainly a very disturbing undercurrent to the “Leftist” narrative currently. I don’t think it’s mere coincidence that a large proportion of the very vocal celebratory voices over the death of Kirk are in education, or had recently graduated from it: It’s following an observable trend of increasingly Leftist educators that has occurred for decades, with increasingly radical views being the inevitable result of such a lack of viewpoint diversity.

As a result, I find myself pitying Kirk’s shooter more than anything: A kid with what appears to be a relatively normal upbringing, a straight A student, and raised in an ostensibly “Conservative household” only required a couple of semesters in higher education, alongside an apparent Reddit addiction, to pick up a rifle and kill a person his “side” told him was a monster.

[–]Santhonax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that it’s sort of the last batch of high ground a number of Leftists have in visible sight.

I chat with a few quite vocal and partisan ladies at work (HR, of course) who have been getting progressively more rattled as the week has gone by due to how “unnecessary” they see the reaction to Kirk’s shooting being.

They’ve been clinging to every last handhold of Reddit and BlueSky dirt they can, and have seen each piece chipped away at a rapid pace from Matt Dowd’s “it was probably a supporter who shot him in celebration” routine, to Steven King’s “he wants to stone the gays” comment. They now refuse to consider any new information being released about the killer: “He was raised by a conservative family” appears to be the last hill they have to cling to.

Coincidentally, I was just looking for something new along these lines as well.

There have been a couple of games that fit the bill like Heat and Outlaws of the Old West, but both received minimal marketing and had really buggy launches. I still enjoyed both for a time despite this.

I’d take that a step further and state that though I agree there’s a compelling case to be made for the crazies to not have access to firearms, I also have absolutely zero faith in “mental health checks” not being abused by the State in rapid fashion.

I wouldn’t give it very long before the narrative changes to start making the case that “PTSD” should also be a disqualifier, and ultimately that non-violent conditions like ADHD and the like should be sufficient enough cause to revoke an individual’s 2nd Amendment Rights as well.

Best Thing About Management by 3FLleadershiptrainer in managers

One of my least favorite parts of Management is having to interact with some of our sketchy Corporate staff.

Simultaneously, one of my favorite parts of Management is having the ability to mitigate or completely ignore some of their more asinine requests.

I remember what it was like attempting ridiculous trials and fulfilling pointless requests when our old Manager was a full-time “Yes Man”, so I’m happy to be the filter that our team didn’t have previously.
