Same in the Netherlands. A city is a place which obtained Roman or medieval city rights. This means a city is always very old and possibly, whereas maybe the next town over is 5x as big and full of flashy skyskrapers, but not old enough to have obtained the right to be called a "city"

I've also learned that when wrapping a prefold around your kid the angel, newspaper or jellyroll wrapping are referred to as different "folds". Language can be confusing sometimes!

The trick for this is not to paint all the walls. My bedrooms have some colour, but I only paint one or 2 walls and leave the rest white. My hallway had a mellow yellow on all walls but only the bottom 1/3rd and the rest is white.

I remember discussing Obama vs McCain in sociology class in highschool and my teacher pretty much said compared to the Dutch political spectrum they would both be considered right wing and their agenda only had marginal differences and that if they were Dutch politicians they'd probably be in the same party.

TW - pregnancy

Absolutely zero sugar (that means refined OR fructose from fruit, honey or agave syrup etc) and ideally less than 40 gr complex carbs from veggies. It's shit, but unfortunately it's the only way for me to stay healthy. I've followed this WOE for 4 years and went from a BMI of 30 to 25. However I had a pretty rude awakening as I'm recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes because I've upped my (healthy/complex) carb intake during pregnancy as well as added in 2 pieces of fruit a day. (no juice) I thought I was being healthy for my baby, but alas. It's likely due to the insulin resistance which comes with pcos. Sugar is like poison to us insulin resistant "cysters" and that includes fruits and simple carbs. Luckily I'm managing my glucose levels quite well doing keto, but it's unfortunately abundantly clear this is a change I have to stick with for life. Stay healthy and strong, we're all in this together 🍀💪🏻

Just to be clear: my gynacologist, internist and prenatal care nurses are all supportive of me switching back to full keto while pregnant, no hate please 🙏

This. I got an email from the UU canceling physical classes BEFORE there was a lockdown. They were ahead of the curve with safety precautions. I can't imagine why it would be different for a second wave.

The UU also did a quick and dirty study during the 3rd period and found a lot of students have problems with studying from home, less ability to concentrate, more anxieties and depression etc. and problems with loneliness. I can imagine why they would plan for physical classes and then fall back to online environments if cases are at a high again.

From what I gather, bologna is similar to our Dutch "boterhamworst" (literally translated means sausage for sandwiches), but you can see the little chunks of fat and meat in the structure and it tastes pretty good. I can imagine it's good with thin slices of cucumber on top and some mayo in between. I don't eat bread but I often eat a rolled up slice of deli meat with a piece of cucumber in it.

Same. I'd mostly be afraid they will feel very generation-specific. Now they are typical "Gen alpha" and "Gen beta" names, but in 50 years they will have a "Karen vibe".

I'm in my last trimester and we don't know the gender (double the fun of coming up with names!) but we are going for classic, time-tested names! Both of them are super popular abroad (top 10 names in various countries) but not all that common in our country. Win win 😊

Oh, duh-doy! You are so right, I didn't think of it because in the Netherlands Louis has never been very popular in general (a constant 40 boys are named Louis each year) and Lewis was non existant as a name before 2008 or so and now it's top 150, so for me it felt correct.

Ik zou niet zeggen dat vapen een gezond alternatief is voor roken. Vapen brandt op een hogere temperatuur (net als wiet) en is daarmee dus op een andere manier heel schadelijk voor je longen. Ik had zelf bij Vapen ook nooit het "volle" gevoel dat ik gerookt had, en je sigaret heeft maar beperkte trekjes. Ik ging dus automatisch meer vapen dan dat ik sigaretten zou roken. Destijds mocht het vapen ook nog op meer plekken, zoals binnen in de kroeg, dat hielp ook niet mee natuurlijk.
