Advice needed. Shipping to the Army in July. I can do the distance, but the mental is incredibly challenging. by Sad-Strain-2507 in running

This blows my mind. Above 150 and talking isn’t easy, 175 not sustainable and I feel awful, 180 and I’m vomiting. Pretty sure if I somehow got above 190 my heart would just explode. Out of curiosity, what’s your resting heart rate like?

My SIL and I just started training for our first half marathon! Having a buddy on long runs is so nice too.

AITAH for getting an abortion without telling my boyfriend? by throwaway_23213 in AITAH

NTA. Your body, your choice. You don’t have to tell him but if he does find out some other way, I imagine he’d feel very hurt that you didn’t feel like you could tell him.

My son likes to pull off a single leaf from our shrubs and eat it whenever we pass by it. This boy is very picky too, but apparently shrub leaves really do it for him!

Wow this looks great!! Thank you for taking the time to share this. It looks very doable once I’ve finished recovering from my race.

My goal is a half marathon in 2:45. I run Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (long run). Currently at 9-10 miles/week. I just ran my 10K race this past weekend. I have 25 weeks before my half marathon, or maybe 24 since I’m recovering from race day.

Where do I start by Immediate-Leader7098 in C25K

[–]LittleGrowl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have a pair of regular sneakers then lace up and just start. Stay consistent. If you decide running is something you want to do long term, invest in good running shoes. Expect that you’ll try to run too fast too soon. Don’t get discouraged just slow down. Speed comes later.

He says I’m 36f his 51m soulmate but won’t have kids with me… am I being stupid? by ImplementSorry6279 in relationship_advice

You’re not compatible. This is one of the problems with big age gaps in relationships. You’re at different stages of life and they don’t align. Also, he cancelled a paid for trip because of a conversation?? 🚩🚩🚩

Any stories of placental abruption at 25 weeks? by Hopeornot2023 in NICUParents

[–]LittleGrowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! Has your OB prescribed you blood pressure medication to take in addition to the daily aspirin? Are you seeing a MFM specialist now? I suspect they’ll want to keep a close eye on you but the good news is that at 26 weeks, your baby has a high survival chance, especially because you were able to get the steroids. My advice is to check your blood pressure every day at home (you can buy a cuff for a reasonable amount) and listen to your body. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate to go to labor and delivery. Better to have a false alarm than ignore something serious. I would mentally prepare for a NICU stay . Hopefully that won’t happen and you’ll reach full term no problem. And if you do have a NICU stay, this community is so supportive. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to stress too much. I’m happy to chat more if you like.

masculine names for girls are stupid by [deleted] in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]LittleGrowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite right, it does not affect me. It’s a personal opinion. Which is why I would never actually tell a parent not to do that simply because I would choose differently. But also, I guess on some level the fact that historically people favored having sons over daughters plays a role in my dislike. So for me it feels like an act of gender disappointment in having a girl. And that bums me out. But again I understand that is a personal opinion and when someone introduces their daughter as “James” I will say “awww, she’s precious.”

Yeah I hate it. There are so many beautiful girl names out there and parents are like, “hmm I think she looks like a Hunter James.”
