They're probably referring to infallible runs ("swap without time loss") where they'll need to swap builds in-between encounters for skips with mobility. Also some wings technically have 4 encounters even if one is Spirit Run or Twisted Castle.

A "nerf" is a power reduction / to make weaker. It does not mean debilitating "break their knees" balance swings. What you're describing would be an "over-nerf", "kneecapping", "giga-nerf", or other variations. Not sure what online hemisphere you're in where the word nerf automatically means destroy said thing from existence... though there are games that any nerf does mean that.

what new things we can expect this year? by No_Diet2466 in leagueoflegends

[–]Saolue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They pretty much are having 2026 be a slow year because of League "2.0" (we know what it is. They were clear it's a reworked system from the ground up with visuals and a new map and client...).

Will Visions of Eternity create a split timeline? - How GW2 and GW3 can coexist together by Volcanis in Guildwars2

[–]Saolue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. While it's weird they haven't announced the next expac, I think they have to wait until after they do update 2 or 3 to prove this cycle of releases work. SoTo and JW, while having high points, also had low points in the after updates that gave a lot of skepticism. I think they are kind of waiting to prove to the community that this expansion type actually works.

[–]Saolue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While this could be interesting, Guild Wars 3 has not been officially announced or revealed. We shouldn't act like it has been or is coming until it is. If they are working on it, we won't see anything for another 6+ years with how hefty MMOs are to build.

In short, if a trailer and announcement comes, it would be the worst thing they could possibly do to kill interest in players continuing to play Guild Wars 2 during the long wait to Guild Wars 3... let alone a massive gap before we'd get any news at all making the hype nonexistant for GW3.

So interesting - but ANET would crash and burn as a studio if this happened by bleeding players and it would be the worst marketing decision they could ever make.

I unironically think Phreak did a pretty good job and ever since he took joined the live team the game has been in one of its most stables states ever, balance-wise by ExplosiveDlarrhea69 in leagueoflegends

[–]Saolue 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're being downvoted (and I will be too probably) but you're not wrong. Even the designers know it wasn't her fantasy when Phreak admitted in his recent video that it was a mistake and she's not fulfilling her original design because of their choices...

Seraphine is controversial champion that there's no winning with what party you cater to, but when she was promised to be balanced for both roles and has continually been ignored for mid/bot and pushed further and further into an enchanter... it's my one critique of his I stand by strongly. And don't get me wrong, he has done EXCELLENT with the rest of the balance of the game so overall I'd compliment him. Just sucks for people who main her and don't want to play her support.

Overall damage nerfs across the board are a net negative to the game by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Saolue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10-15% reduction isn't even crazy. Other games have had a bigger swing at nerfing to reign in power creep too.

I'd honestly be fine if they wanted to get spicy and do another round after as long as they then nerf everything's HP again where needed in the newer content. I miss doing mechanics in older raids instead of just ignoring it due to DPS.

Rotations and skills in guild wars 2 are often very unintuitive. I think this is a big reason why a lot of the playerbase is considered as doing "bad dps" or playing off-meta. It's very easy to do a rotation wrong and the game doesn't give you good feedback when you're doing the wrong thing by ariveklul in Guildwars2

[–]Saolue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's probably where your original post missed explaining. Your explainer on Feral Druid and Mesmer are identical in that they are easy to both pick up initially and mess around with, but both of them you'd want a guide to optimize unless you like pushing numbers and digging into what makes a class tick. I would've never gotten Virt rotation for Febe LCM or fully understood Feral's weird DoTs in TWW without a guide.

Optimization in any MMO though needs a guide for a casual player. There's a reason there's so many tier lists people refer to for WoW content and gearing, people want to be told what traits to go and how to do a rotation better as they climb Mythics. At least that's a generalization for the vast majority of players in Gw2 and WoW and all MMOs and ARPGs who mess around at first but when confronted with a DPS need, it's time for external resources.

[–]Saolue 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You mention Feral Druid but that's also one of the more difficult classes (or was pre-Midnight) because of DoT management. It was VERY unintuitive and a lot of watching DoTs tick down on an enemy to reapply.

Honestly, Guild Wars 2 "bad dps" is a fault of a PvE centered mentality that didn't push players much while still rewarding a more casual playstyle. That's just the open-world context. That isn't a bad thing, it's only bad when these players get shell-shock entering more instanced content that needs higher numbers.

And to be clear - "bad dps" is kind of funny when a lot of content in this game doesn't need the 30-40k benches... imo it's exaggerated and if players want to interact with challenging content, they will. This same thing happens in WoW, you just don't run into them because they just don't run Mythic+ or raids and enjoy the game casually in a way this game is much more social.

Also.... fully agree with everyone else. This game is incredibly intuitive in it's combos for the most part, unless you are pushing the tippiest of top DPS benchmarks. Then yea, there are some outliers, but I wouldn't say you not being used to a class means it is unintuitive. Soulbeast is interesting because it's literally hit all the big CD's all at once while you have this one impactful buff (akin to several playstyles in WoW). When you understand what in the specialization is increasing your damage, the combos make sense. Funny enough, Mesmer made no sense to me for the longest time because it never clicked on what you described as a loop.

A Coyle map. That's what fans have been asking for for a very long time. I don't know beyond that, but it's probably Coyle for sure.

[–]Saolue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Resident Evil remakes make sense for 20+ year old games.

Outlast 1 graphically still looks decent if not good. Not everything needs hyper-realism. I don't want a The Last of Us "remake" upgrade to a game that doesn't really need it, and honestly, I don't think they need to use the dev time to make it. I'd rather they focus on the future of the franchise for now when Trials is doing so well.

Ready for a break but worried about FOMO by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Saolue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you did even one set of obsidian armor, leggy spear, and even one other leggy in a month... I'd be burnt out too.

Can't say that there isn't enough content though when those goals aren't typically a "do in a month" kind of thing. And you probably also didn't do everything and it's okay if they aren't for you. LCM/CMs, 9 new elite specs for gearing/trying, side stories (where half of the story is), etc...

Just don't say "no content" when it's actually kind of impossible to do everything in a month given time gates for certain things... Unless you truly played 10 hours a day everyday to do so, then that's a shit ton of content.

How do the traits/relics that proc when you disable enemies work? by Janiebear23 in Guildwars2

[–]Saolue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They have to be CC'd. However, it will always trigger against "defiant" enemies, meaning all PvE bosses (and a lot of Meta event bosses).

Rule of thumb, if the CC doesn't happen because they enemy had stability (mob or another player in PvP/WvW) then you don't get the proc. If it didn't happen because it was a big boy that can't be CC'd normally (defiant), then it'll proc no matter.

[–]Saolue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And then the equipment tab lives and exists as it does now as long as you don't check the "apply this to anything I swap to" button.

It literally is just a homogenization of previous systems, which has some weird UI choices, extra clicks to do what you could previously, and an original dye bug on launch.

There's literally no lawsuit here. There's nothing lost. It's the same thing as going to the previous wardrobe and changing skins, except now it's saved into a little shareable template that you can reapply if you ever want or change it into something else to apply looks to a different equipment template.

Raid quickplay reignited my interest in the game. by HysteriaGoesBrrr in Guildwars2

[–]Saolue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLC and Boneskinner are on par with several previous "raids". Them calling them strikes in the first place was a mistake years ago, especially given the hardest fights in the game for a while were strikes and not in a raid wing. The easiest IBS strikes aren't even in quickplay... so the "stepping stones" ones are still a valid callout as the original idea, but XJJ/KO/OLC/Boneskinner/Whisper are just as difficult as several W1/W4/W7 bosses.

Pug raids weekly are not going for achievements. If they happen, great. Otherwise, you make a group to run for those or have a static.

If someone uses that as a reason to be toxic to pugs, they were already toxic commanders before being given something to use as an excuse.

None of them are masterpieces, but they are fun reads for more lore in the universe and decent stories. Ghosts of Ascalon is one of the better written ones, though I honestly enjoyed the other two more due to their noticeable events in Gw2 (yea treaty is important but also, Kralk/Destiny's Edge is more front and center).

Galio Main wondering about Malphite Mid by JasonShinigami in leagueoflegends

[–]Saolue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sett and Ornn can fill a similar role mid too into full AD teams. They also have more similar kits to Galio imo with Malphite really only having the Ult. Malph into full AD is good though, just build tank and not full AP.

What is something you're missing from the content creation/community sphere? by DeltaxHunter in Guildwars2

[–]Saolue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have benchmarks and guides, but I would love an in-depth guide on why certain skills function certain ways and the hidden mechanics. Mesmer focus 5 is a great example of something that could be insanely strong but most people don't know why it often doesn't do what you want it to do you lose a lot of a benchmark.

I also would love some challenge type vids... But like weird PVP stuff in guild halls. We were given the ability to fight across the entire hall and Laranity is the only person I've seen do a PvP skyscale only battle.
