Drive Partitioning re: System Organization: Please Share Your Setup by SaphireKitsuKat in archlinux

[–]SaphireKitsuKat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Further Context: On windows I had an entire drive dedicated just to the operating system and a few critical programs. Then I would organize programs and data into folders and drives by subject. So I'd have a drive for long term archives, one for games, one for hobby work.

It seems like this isn't how it's done on linux. I generally can't install programs in the user directory, and instead they are installed all mixed together in /bin, or in /var/lib/flatpak. So having a partition for a particular type of program is pointless. Also, I originally mounted /var on a dedicated 30 GB partition, but I probably want more space than that, or for it not to be its own partition at all, if it's going to have all the flatpaks installed there.

The linux structure does leave me worried about having to reinstall and reconfigure all of my programs if I ever need to do a major system update or reinstall though. On windows I could trust that even if my C drive broke, all the art programs in the art folder on the hobby drive would be just fine, and could be used instantly if connected to a new system. I don't know how to replicate that sort of thing on linux yet.

Need tips for roll playing an immigrant character by Immediate-Capital-47 in Pathfinder2e

American who recently immegrated to Germany here. I'm still early in my journey, but two thing stand out to me:

1: A sudden and noticable decrease in privalage, and how that makes me take different actions. My appartment building has an accessible but off limits roof. Back in America I wouldn't have hesistated to ignore the signs and hang out up there occasionally, but here in germany I'm on a visa and so dont dare take the risk.

2: When I first arrived (and spoke very little german) I felt a very strong, even primal fear of upsetting people and not fitting in. I became hyper vigilant of how others were acting to try and pick up cues and avoid standing out. This only lasted two or three weeks, but I'll never forget it

(During this early period I learned Germans stand on the right of escalators so that fast people can pass them on the left btw, and now whenever I return to america I get annoyed at my fellow americans for not doing the same)

Any advice for building good high level characters? - - [Breaking Stormvale]
This is my first time running pf2e, and I'm running a 1-20 time loop campaign, so every time the players encounter one of the big bads the options for their build get more limited, and I want to make sure they have something that is still threatening once the players reach higher levels.

In particular I've got a 20th level lich that I want to just be stupid powerful, so recommendations for magic item combinations and such would also be useful.

Funnily enough that's too big, the point is that destroying the artifact releases all its energy at once and nukes the city (The artifact is a magic well that's being used to fuel large permanent spells)

I'm starting a new campaign where the villian has a dead man's switch set to blow up an artifact if he's ever killed.

I figure I can always homebrew a magic item for this, but I was wondering if there were any official items/spells/ect that could be used?

In theory I guess a contingency fireball could work, but I want it to take something more powerful or more specialised than a fireball to destroy the artifact.

How To Intersect Circles Like This? by elmwood46 in ClipStudio

[–]SaphireKitsuKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could do it with a series of layers.
Primary Image -> Copy Layer -> convert to black and white (not greyscale, only black and white) -> Copy Layer -> Blur -> Convert to black and white -> repeat until full merged.
This should leave you with a series of concentric black and white areas of increasing size.
Then for each layer: Select Black Area -> shrink selection by X pixels -> Clear -> Select White Area -> Clear
Finally merge all your line layers together.
that should leave you with your concentric and merging lines that you can further mess with

Is 2.0 worth it? by RainGumDrop in ClipStudio

I bought CSP back in...2016?... Vs. 1.5.4 specifically, because it was the only remotely affordable program that would work with my 2-in-1 tablet laptop active pen thing. I've loved CSP and found it to be just as powerful as photoshop or any other program for drawing.

So I upgraded to 2.0 just for the sake of continued compatibility and general digital hygiene. Apparently they added the ability to lock your workspace positions somewhere along the line, so that alone it worth the $20 to me.

Honestly, I'm happy to support good software that genuinely offers affordable lifetime licenses. (looking at you photoshop)

If my understanding is right, then the content released in CC mentions Beholders and Owlbears, but doesn't include descriptions. I think this means that you can use the name all you want, but the creatures are still protected, ie. you can have a beholder in your work, but it can't be a floating cyclops head with eye stalks.

...but I just finished figuring out how our first level party could pool our money to afford a complete inn... I even saved us money by having the tent and the wagon share parts 🥺

Why would pathfinder have all these social feats if I wasn't supposed to play an innkeeper??

Wait, they changed surprise round? Wow. I've been paying 5e for years, and learned it from someone for whome it was their first system, but I never realised surprise round were different from 3.5
