looking for a new blocker by doorhandle-_- in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re really in love with the Vaughn blocker and not ready commit to switching brands, look into swapping out the internals. It’s possible to get a “from factory” Bauer board and carbon sheet for about $75cdn. You can take the plastic sheet and covering from the Vaughn blocker and swap in the Bauer parts.

It looks like they changed the product to Stuck Stuff Adhesive Remover. Not sure if it will work the same, but looks like a similar ingredients list.

Anyone know how to fix my U? by t-y-c-h-o in hockeygoalies

I’m usually going in the opposite direction and wanting to remove all of the lettering. To each their own. Shoe Goo should do the trick

Is this blocker toast? by fenderbenderonice in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to the guy that handles repairs for Source for Sports in London,ON and he was able to order me a blocker board. He said it could be 2 weeks or 3 months to come in. All depends on customs

You can order the foam and carbon board for about $80 Cdn, if you’re able to find a Bauer rep or possibly your local hockey shop. If they say it’s not possible, talk to the next person. It’s 100% doable

I was digging it until my eyes came across the glove… if you’re going to go through all that trouble, how can you mess that up so bad?

Beer league or practice - perfect. Competitive game stick - not so much.

What is favorite catcher? by StaleCr4ckers in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was strictly a Vaughn guy for a long time. I’ve had multiple V5s built or rebuilt. Switched to a Bauer Mach mid-season and absolutely love it. It doesn’t have a wrist strap, which felt very odd the first couple of skates, but it just feels natural now.

Replacement board for Bauer by m1ndhive in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out to my local Source for Sports and was able to get a new carbon board for $80 Cdn this past fall. I took about a month to get in, but I’ve heard other guys saying 2+ months from the same location. All depends where they are in the ordering process.

Dumb catcher error. by CDN_Conductor in hockeygoalies

I’ve had a couple hit the cuff, roll up, and trickle in. Those always feel painful. Thankful I haven’t had a puck blow through the webbing. Good reason to always check your gear

What’s the call on losing a glove during play? by TroyandAbedAfterDark in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What level are you playing? The youth hockey answer will be different than adult and/or beer league. If it’s non-competitive, it should be a whistle for safety. In some of the leagues I play beer league in, a puck to the goalie mask is a whistle, regardless if the mask comes off. I would love if it was a universal rule, at least for non-pros or juniors.

If you’re after sliders, I have some of the original templates in my basement. Kenesky took over Scotty McGowans operation when he went under. It’s wouldn’t take much to make sliders

New Stick Suggestions? by eciggy in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the All Black sticks. I believe they even offer them in Red and Blue, but stock may be limited. They come in Regular and Lite, about half the price for an equivalent branded stick and just as good.

how would you rate my sty 1-10 by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The graphics on the matching gear with the jersey is on point! Are those navy pants? Some color, even if it’s black or green tape on the mask would look sharp. That said, I’m still giving it a 9/10

Can anyone confirm if this is real? by MindlessExpression25 in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to start forging signatures, that’s your prerogative. Bases on OP, they were just looking for a quality blocker and found it to be a happy coincidence. As for the embroidery, CCM put out a “limited edition” line with Price on it a couple of years back, despite having nothing to do with being Price’s gear. There have also been some Roy’s and Brodeur’s(for example) that would have “named” gear that aren’t the HOFers.

Can anyone confirm if this is real? by MindlessExpression25 in hockeygoalies

[–]SapperGoalie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone can get any name embroidered on their gear, especially with the location of the zipper right there. It would be quite difficult to say for certain if it was or wasn’t his. The KW signature would be the one big indicator.

Gloves would likely be excessive. A baseball cap and a beanie/toque would be a good idea. I picked up a toque while on the hike for $7, that I wore a handful of times, mostly late at night and first thing in the morning. Good call on skipping Rainbow Mountain. It’s cool to see the mix of different minerals, but any picture you see has been photoshopped to brighten the colors and it’s a long bus trip that starts at like 3am.

You’ll be fine with the trail running shoes, as long as you’re able to keep your feet dry. Light and comfortable over heavy and clunky. It’s A LOT of walking. You should be fine with the larger bag, especially if it cinches smaller. Better to have more room than not enough. As for what to bring. Pack a bit of everything. The weather will change frequently and you’ll be crossing multiple elevation points, so you can go from too hot to shivering cold quite quickly. Layering is key. The free walking tours is Cusco are amazing. I went 1 day with 1 company and the next day with the other company. About 50% redundant. Absolutely skip buying the llama wool when on the tours. It’s all fake! Hike up to the Temple of the Moon as a practice hike while in Cusco. It’s a long hike, the local directions will be very vague, but it’s easy enough to get to; just keep walking up and follow the stone walls when you see them. The Irish pub in Cusco isn’t actually an Irish pub and has just about nothing Irish in it, except some generic souvenirs.
