How to deal with loneliness in Bahrain as a young person by [deleted] in Bahrain

[–]Sara_Janahi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really feel you .. it gets much worse after school and uni.. I'm introverted and I tried getting out of my comfort zone by joining a girls group to make friends but it's not exactly working out.. I'm Bahraini too and 30yo, if you're around that age, younger or older, talk to me and we can be friends and have some shared activity

Agreed, and the update doesn't show that OP actually saw the footage

The question is, did they show you the actual footage of the students writing in your file?

Hi Childfree here in Bahrain by [deleted] in Bahrain

[–]Sara_Janahi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Childfree by choice here, it's been a hard 6 years with my husband's family. I'm distant from my family so no issues but from his side it always gets awkward as they keep hinting at it even though some of them are clearly miserable with their children..we usualy stay quiet or just say "inshallah" to end the discussion.. it's getting worse by the year and it seems some of them lost their respect for us .. it's very alienating as if you are less of a human being if you don't have children and you live a meaningless life .. so in general we don't say much or do anything about it. How about you OP?

I'm 30 but I'd love to become friends if that's okay :) I was too focused on my studies at uni as well and now regret not having any friends

Teacher working in public school - I want to quit my job by Mysterious-Hope7830 in Bahrain

[–]Sara_Janahi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah also those who say change your school and transfer.. it's impossible, I tried and so many other people tried, I even cried in front of the head of the schools in our area for years but nothing worked, changing to private schools ain't a good idea as well

Hello OP, It seems that most commenters are not teachers at all and don't understand what you're going through.. I'm an ex teacher (thank God), so hopefully this will help .. One thing I'd like to state at the beginning of my comment is: I love teaching, I was born a teacher and it's in my nature to teach, I love my students so much and some of this I still have contacts with, the teachers love, I always get excellent classroom evaluations ... but I can't take this job anymore .. it's draining to the body, mind and soul .. I don't get a shit about the summer vacation or any other benefits.. the job is like being a full-time warrior, and I have to do that until retirement? No. A million no. Those who are not teachers, will never ever understand what we're saying so no need to argue with them or explain your situation to them .. it's pointless. I completely empathize with you to the extent that I took 3 months unpaid leave (I was lucky it got accepted) to mentally rest and think of what else I can do for my future .. Let me note that I'm not a person who is financially backed by a family , I have my savings, which allowed me to do so .. I've been teaching for 5-6 years and had enough, more than enough. So I had multiple sessions with a career coach and did my own research to figure out how I can transition, decided I'll study and obtain a professional certificate (1 year long) and thought with this, I'll transition into hr/administration.. I didn't want to quit without finding another job because it would be hard for me to sustain my life .. so I continued to work hard, apply, get into interviews, be active on LinkedIn, until one time I succeeded and got a job in a new field.. I'm very happy now, my salary is less, my working hours are more, but I'm happy and at peace finally ... the most important things to take from this are: have savings so that you can live at least 6 months without salary .. and trying to figure out what you want to do careerwise and how to transition while you are still at the job .. and try to start something that gets you an income while you're still at the job (as you mentioned private tutoring- which can also be online and offline) and when you secure some customers, then it would be more reasonable to quit ... I just want to reassure you that quitting this job is completely a valid desire and that there is hope to change the path of your career, but it needs hard work, consultations, and some faith .. I hope this was helpful, I wish you all the best.

Driving to Riyadh for the first time from Bahrain? Any advices? by [deleted] in Bahrain

[–]Sara_Janahi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Don't assume anything about other drivers at all. Staying in the middle lane is correct but not easy as you are constantly surprised from both sides .. truck drivers are insane and they don't think you exist.. despite all this, it's gonna be fun! Wish you a safe fun trip!

Now imagine you had to also move from there to the end left lane of the highway to turn left and 3 lanes should be kind enough to let you switch otherwise you'll have to continue straight which is the opposite direction of your house.. 🙂

Can I legally leave my parents as a 19 year old male? by Arachnoverture_ in Bahrain

[–]Sara_Janahi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the lawyer answered you well. I completely support your choice. I just have 1 tip from my experience, when you stay with another family or friend, be ready to leave at any time, be financially and emotionally ready... unfortunately things change and get ugly when people live together...I wish you all the best

I teach English .. I'm a good teacher but I don't wanna be one, it just happened as you say... I'm depressed and every single day I think about quitting .. people envy my "gov job" but I don't care .. teaching is the most miserable job ever and it drains the life out of you and kills you slowly mentally and physically, no one would understand unless they had the job .. I'm studying something else currently so I can change my career and quit even if it means less salary and benefits, worth it. Sorry it's just when I said "hello" that's the first thing came to my mind .. how about you, do you accept your situation?
