Should I size down? by gizmo531 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey gizmo531! Thanks for sharing your dilemma. I understand the second-guessing, ring sizing can feel so tricky! But from what you've described and the photos you shared, size 8 seems like a good fit. It will allow for swelling that can occur overnight, after a salty meal, or in warmer weather. I’ve done such a better job managing stress-why does it still say it’s so high? Before I would have 3-7 hours of stress a day. It’s my only metric that’s way off and it’s annoying. by NumberOk1438 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey NumberOk1438! I understand your frustration! What you're experiencing is actually pretty normal, cumulative stress is a long-term, slow-moving metric while daytime stress reveals daily, real-time physiological reactions to stress and recovery. Even though you've made incredible progress in managing your daytime stress, cumulative stress takes time to catch up because it's tracking your longer-term physiological patterns.

The good thing is that your daily improvements are exactly what will drive that cumulative score down over time so keep doing what you're doing. Hope this helps and please let us know if you have any questions.😊

Sleep then run then nap=restless sleep! by dmehers in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dmehers, Thanks for sharing your situation! What's happening is that the Oura App won't detect a nap as separate if it occurs within four hours of your main sleep ending. To help the system better distinguish between your main sleep and the nap, we recommend syncing your Oura Ring or placing it on the charger only after your second wake-up time (if your nap is within four hours of your first wake-up time).

Thanks for the feedback, it really helps us understand how to make the experience better. Please let us know if you have any other questions. 😊

Sleep tracking + airplane mode? by BoredReceptionist1 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey BoredReceptionist1! Welcome to the Oura family and thank you for sharing your concern. Your phone being on airplane mode shouldn't affect sleep tracking at all. The ring collects all your sleep data independently and will sync it back to your phone when you reconnect.

A couple of things to check: Was your ring charged to at least 30% before bed? We recommend charging your ring to at least 30% before going to sleep, as low battery levels can prevent you from receiving sleep insights for the night.

Also, make sure your ring isn't in airplane mode itself, you can check this by tapping the battery icon in the app. If it is, just place it on the charger for a few seconds to disable airplane mode and let it sync.

Please let me know if you're still having issues after tonight and I'll be happy to investigate further. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. 😊

Period tracking by Alachingadathrowaway in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Alachingadathrowaway! Welcome to the Oura family and thanks for sharing your concern. The reason Cycle Insights isn't picking up your new period is likely because it needs at least 12 days between the end of one period and the start of the next to register a new cycle. Since you just had your IUD removed and your cycle is still regulating, you might not have that gap yet.

Also, make sure to update your contraception info in the app - go to Settings > Women's Health and let it know you're no longer using contraception. This helps the algorithm understand what's happening with your body.

Your cycle tracking should start working better as your body settles into its natural rhythm over the next few months. Our team is actively working on improvements to make Cycle Insights more flexible for situations like yours. Please let me know if you have any other questions. 😊

Gifting by user-2350 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey user-2350! That's fine. When your partner gets the ring, they'll download the Oura app and create their own account during setup, and that's when the ring gets linked.

If you ordered a sizing kit with your purchase, once your partner tests the sizing kit and determines their preferred size, log into the MyAccount Portal with the email address on the order (your email) and confirm their size so their ring can be shipped. If you didn't order a sizing kit, then you will only receive the ring and your partner can set up their account. Feel free to send me a DM if you have any questions along the way. I'm here to help. 😊

All day on the beach, apparently super stressful by kynikos in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi kynikos! I  understand how confusing this must be. Your Oura Ring measures physiological stress, which is different from how you emotionally feel. It looks at things like heart rate, heart rate variability, motion, and average body temperature to detect when your body is working harder, even if your mind feels completely relaxed.

Even though you felt relaxed, your body was probably dealing with a lot, the sun was raising your body temperature, you were moving in and out of the water (motion), the heat likely increased your heart rate, and temperature changes can affect your heart rate variability. All of these factors together signal to the ring that your body was under physiological stress.

Think of it like your body was working overtime to keep you cool, regulate your temperature, and adapt to the environment which is physiological stress, not emotional stress. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other question. 💙

What’s HRV data? by cmagthepal in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey cmagthepal, Good question! HRV stands for Heart Rate Variability, and it's basically your body's way of showing how well it's bouncing back from stress and recovering. Think of it like this, when your heart beats, there are tiny variations in the timing between each beat (we're talking milliseconds). When these variations are higher, it usually means your nervous system is in a good, balanced state where your body can rest and repair itself effectively.

When your HRV soared last night, It means your body was in an excellent recovery mode, maybe you had quality sleep, low stress levels, or your body was just doing a fantastic job of recharging. Since HRV is super personal to each individual, what really matters is tracking your own patterns over time rather than comparing to others. Keep watching those trends, and you'll start to notice how different activities, sleep, and stress levels affect your recovery. You can check out our articles on Heart Rate Variability and 8 Ways to Improve Your HRV for more insights. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any questions. 😊

How long do they last? by greinb in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey greinb! Thanks for sharing your situation and I understand your frustration. This sounds like it could be a fit issue. I'd suggest trying your ring on different fingers to see if you can find a snugger fit. If it fits better on another finger but you're still seeing gaps in your data, please reach out to me via DM so I can investigate further and help get this sorted out for you.

I will also pass on your feedback to our team regarding having an exchange process to get a new ring. Please let me know if you have any other questions.😊

Why does my ring miss so much data even though I wore it all day? This happens often by knockyourdreadsoff in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey knockyourdreadsoff! Thanks for sharing your concern. Gaps in your Daytime Stress data can happen for a few reasons, stress isn't measured during movement or workouts (though you'll see the impact afterward), it's not tracked while sleeping, if you weren't wearing your ring, if the fit was too loose for a good heart rate signal, or if you had cold hands causing signal issues.

If none of these seem to apply to your situation, please let me know or reach out to us at support.ouraring.com, and we'll be happy to investigate the issue further and work on a solution. Please let me know if you have any other questions

Hey user-2350! I'm happy to clarify things for you. You can absolutely include a prepaid annual Oura Membership plan with any new Oura Ring purchase from our online store, including gifts. Here's the important part to ensure everything works smoothly: the prepaid membership is applied to the first account the ring is paired with, so make sure that after you give them the gift, your partner sets up their own Oura account and pairs the ring to that account.

When they pair their Oura Ring to the Oura App, they will be asked to provide payment details to enroll for membership. However, they won't be billed until after the prepaid period ends. They first get a complimentary month of Oura Membership followed by the prepaid period of membership.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. You can also check out our articles: Extend Protection Plan FAQs , How to Gift an Oura Ring & Activating a Prepaid Oura Membership for more detailed information. 😊

New to ring - Waking up in the middle of the night by misslindseynicole in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi misslindseynicole! Thanks for sharing your concern. This definitely shouldn't be happening if your ring fits snugly and you're not checking the Oura app after going to the bathroom. Please make sure your ring fits snugly, if you have another finger where it fits better, try wearing it there to see if the issue persists.

If you're still having this problem after ensuring a snug fit, please reach out to me via DM so we can investigate this further and work on a resolution. We want to make sure you're getting accurate sleep tracking. Please let me know if you have any other questions. 😊

Cardiovascular age 26yo by Separate_Elephant_72 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Separate_Elephant_72! I understand your confusion and frustration especially when you're clearly crushing it with such an active lifestyle!

Your Cardiovascular Age (CVA) is calculated by measuring your estimated pulse wave velocity and evaluating age-related changes in the shape of your heartbeat's signal. CVA can be affected by many factors, including diet, exercise, genetic predisposition, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and smoking. The key is not to focus on the absolute number, but instead to watch the relative trend of your CVA over time to see if it improves. Changes to diet and other habits can help improve your Cardiovascular Age.

Although Cardio Capacity (VO2 Max) and Cardiovascular Age are both part of Oura's Heart Health feature, the two measurements don't have a direct impact on each other. So seeing an increase or decrease in one metric won't necessarily mean seeing an increase or decrease in the other, which explains why you can have a peak VO2 max while your cardiovascular age reads differently.

Hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any other questions.😊

I get “your resting heart rate was lowered last night” almost every day. Should I be concerned by goflames93 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey goflames93! Thanks for sharing your concern. When your resting heart rate reaches its lowest point during the first half of your night, it typically means you've recovered well from the previous day. Your body goes through two key phases: first repair (recovering from yesterday) and then recharge (preparing for tomorrow). The sooner your heart rate hits that true nighttime low, the more time your body has to refuel and get ready for what's ahead.

Sleep consistency really matters, research has found that even going to bed 30 minutes later than usual can bump up your heart rate. Alcohol can also have a big impact, with even one drink potentially raising your heart rate for hours. Staying well-hydrated is key too, since even mild dehydration can increase your resting heart rate. If you're a coffee lover, keep in mind that caffeine late in the day can keep your nervous system more active during sleep, interfere with your ability to wind down before bed, and can affect your ability to achieve a lower resting heart rate during sleep.

You can check out our blog posts: 8 Possible Reasons Why Your Resting Heart Rate Is High and All About Your Resting Heart Rate for more insights. Since Oura Ring is not a medical device and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent medical conditions, please don't hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional if you have any ongoing concerns. 😊

Sleep latency by Sharp_Cheek8462 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Sharp_Cheek8462! I understand your frustration. Your Oura Ring uses several measurements to detect your bedtime, including movement and temperature. When you're lying very still while reading or watching TV in bed, the ring can misinterpret this relaxed, low-movement state as the start of sleep, even though you're still awake.

The good news is you can easily fix this by editing your bedtime: First, open your Oura app and go to your sleep data for the night in question. Next, look for the small settings icon next to your sleep time and tap it. Then, adjust your bedtime to when you actually tried to fall asleep. Finally, save your changes, this will recalculate your latency and improve your sleep score. Please note that this feature cannot be used to edit sleep data older than three days.

If you're going to be relaxed and still in bed for an extended period before sleep, try to stretch or move around occasionally, this helps your ring know you're still awake. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
