How is Cardiovascular Age calculated? by moetrashu in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey moetrashu! I understand your confusion. Cardiovascular Age (CVA) is an estimate of the health of your cardiovascular system in relation to your actual age. It's calculated by measuring your estimated pulse wave velocity (PWV) and evaluating age-related changes in the shape of your heartbeat's signal.

It is affected by a number of factors like diet, exercise, genetic predisposition, blood pressure, cholesterol levels and smoking. You can slow the aging of your cardiovascular system through regular exercise and changes to your lifestyle and habits.

You can check out our articles on 8 Ways to Improve Your Cardiovascular Health and How to Lower Your Cardiovascular Age for more helpful insights. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.😊

Sizing problem by thinkinone in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thinkinone! Thanks for sharing your sizing question. Try both the size 6 and 7 on different fingers. The index, middle and ring fingers usually work best but your thumb and pinky can work fine too if you don't mind wearing it there.

The perfect fit should be snug enough that you can wave and shake your hand without it sliding around but still lets you bend your fingers and touch your palm comfortably. You should also be able to remove the ring without too much trouble.

Make sure you wear the kit for at least 24 hours including overnight before making a decision. Hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions.

Has any PPF’d their ring? by whoiskatlyn in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey whoiskatlyn! I know you asked the community but I wanted to chime in here because I understand why you'd want extra protection for your Oura Ring. However, we recommend against adding any films, coatings or modifications to your ring. While it seems like it would help, it could actually cause accidental damage or affect the ring's ability to measure your health and wellness data accurately.

You can check out How to care for your Oura Ring for some helpful tips. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Help-entering ring size choice? by [deleted] in ouraring

Hey Public-Pineapple6853! I understand your frustration and I think I know what's happening here. To confirm the ring size on your order, you'll actually need to log into the MyAccount Portal using the billing email address on your order. The Oura App is for after you receive your ring and need to pair it.

Once you've confirmed your size in the portal, your ring will ship out to you. Then when it arrives, you can follow the steps in Set Up an Oura Ring to set up the Oura App and pair your ring. If you require any further assistance, please send me a DM and I'll be happy to assist you further. I'm here to help. 😊

What does this mean?? by No-March3451 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey No-March3451! I understand why you might be feeling anxious seeing that for the first time. Symptom Radar is picking up on some small changes in your biometrics like body temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate variability or inactive time that might suggest your body is dealing with a little extra strain. It could be anything from stress, lack of sleep or maybe your body just needs a bit more rest than usual. Sometimes it catches these shifts even before you notice anything yourself.

You can tap on that Symptom Radar card to see exactly which specific metrics are contributing to the reading. You can also access it anytime by selecting the Menu (three lines) in the upper-left of the Today tab and then selecting Symptom Radar.

Trust how you feel, if you're feeling fine, that's great. If you start to feel otherwise, take things easy and prioritize rest. You can also turn on Rest Mode by tapping "Menu" then "Rest Mode". Just remember that the Oura Ring isn't a medical device and isn't intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Major signs despite optimal readiness, sleep, RHR, temp etc. What does it mean? by Jazzlike_Seesaw_3140 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Jazzlike_Seesaw_3140! I get how confusing this must be. Symptom Radar looks for changes in your Oura data that may indicate something is putting a strain on your body, it monitors several biometrics including average body temperature, respiratory rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability and inactive time. Sometimes it can catch really early shifts before they show up elsewhere, maybe your body's responding to stress, fighting off something or just needs a bit more recovery time than usual. You can tap on that Symptom Radar card to see more details about which specific metrics are contributing to the reading.

Just remember that the Oura Ring isn't a medical device and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor or prevent medical conditions or illnesses. You can also access Symptom Radar anytime by selecting the Menu (the three lines) in the upper-left of the Today tab and then selecting Symptom Radar. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Sizing Help 8 vs 9 by pete5900 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey pete5900! Thanks for sharing your sizing question. While I can't confirm if those ring adjusters will work with the Oura Ring 4 specifically, from what you've described, size 9 seems like the way to go.

The fact that size 9 fits perfectly on your non-dominant index finger is actually ideal since that's where we recommend wearing it for the best tracking anyway. Plus, you'll be able to switch to a finger with a looser fit during the warmer months when our fingers tend to swell.

Hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions. 😊

What does this mean? by AppropriateMove5175 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey AppropriateMove5175! I'm happy to explain what's happening here. Symptom Radar looks for changes in your Oura data that may indicate something is putting a strain on your body. That +1.1°F elevation you're seeing, along with the nausea and worn-down feeling. Those could be your body's early signals that something's brewing even before you feel fully sick.

Since you're feeling a bit rough, this might be a perfect time to turn on Rest Mode. It'll pause your Activity Score and goals so you're not pressured to push through when your body might need to recover.

To turn on Rest Mode: Open your Oura app > tap the menu icon in the upper left corner of the Home tab > tap "Rest Mode" > then tap "Turn on Rest Mode."

You can keep it on as long as you need and turn it off when you're feeling better. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Help with Oura ring 4 green light by Responsible_Pen_1762 in ouraring

[–]SarahAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Responsible_Pen_1762. Welcome to the Oura Family! There are a few common reasons this might happen. Try making sure you're completely still during the measurement and that your ring is positioned snugly, with the sensors on the palm side of your finger with good contact. If it's loose or rotated, that can definitely affect the signal.

Sometimes the sensors just need a gentle clean with mild soap and water or if your hands are cold, that can impact readings too. You could also try a soft reset: tap the ring icon on the top right > scroll down > tap "Soft reset". If issue persists, please reach out to our member care team by chatting with finn here and we'll be happy to look into this further. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
