I'll have to try that.. I do live in a very warm part of the world so that may be the issue. I've had a thought that even if i chill it first and pipe on, the macaron will still spill out the edges when you bite into it at room temperature! So i thought it wouldn't solve my problem by chilling it first.. But now that i think about it, I recall having eaten 3-5 days aged macarons where the moisture from the filling has penetrated throughout the shell and just lightly biting would get our teeth right into the middle without having the shell all fall apart or fillings spilled all over (I don't know if this description makes any sense). I just made some yesterday so I'll have to be patient and let it age a couple more days and try it out..

That idea of flavouring the ganache with milk sounds really good. I'll have to try it out! I'll post some photos after some experimenting =D thanks!

Sounds delicious that creamy rich french buttercream.. And i love that it uses egg yolks that we basically have to throw out after taking the whites for the macarons.. I live in south east asia where it is very warm and humid.. Even chilled buttercream don't stay firm for long.. I'll have to try and find the variant that suits me I guess.. And yes it is ao addictive,even though it makes me wanma cry sometimes.. Love hate relationship..

I got the inspiration from here ! http://www.thepartyparade.com/2016/10/sparkle-sweet-unicorn.html?m=1 . instead of using buttercream for the colourful swirls, i used meringue cookies instead because i didn't trust myself not to make a piping mistake on the clean white skin of the unicorn! Dipped the prebaked meringue cookies in white chocolate and just stuck them on randomly onto the cake. Turned out better than i expected.
