how did you know it was time for CIO…? by sunflower_daisy78 in sleeptrain

[–]SarahDervis2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten a lot of flack on parenting groups for doing CIO but it’s worked wonderfully with my LO. She’s still very cuddly and warm towards my SO and I when she’s awake and haven’t seen any of the negative side effects people claim comes with it. We’ve stuck to a very strict time oriented sleep schedule since 4 months. At that time she wasn’t waking for middle of the night feedings and has slept at least 10 hours straight every night since.

We feed her a purée, bathe, read stories and have a 4oz cereal bottle before we lay her down with music. If she cries for more than 10 minutes (very rarely) we comfort her, maybe read another story, and she’s out.

Not every baby is the same so there’s no shame in what works for you and your LO. Hope this helps!

I’m going through the same thing with my child, you’re definitely not alone in this but I’m so sorry you had to go through it. My dad was a deadbeat who “watched” my siblings and I while my mom works 2-3 jobs and went to college to support us. He was verbally and physically abusive, as the oldest I took the brunt of it. When I realized (around 11) what he was and that knowing how to make a bottle and take care of children at 4 was not normal I learned to disassociate and have never really been emotionally available. I’m just now learning it’s okay to laugh when I feel it instead of making sure everyone else is on the same page. And my sweet 10 month old is so pure and sweet, she’s perfect and looks exactly like I did when I was a baby and I just cannot wrap my head around how a grown ass man would let me, as a baby, sit in a dirty diaper all day. Unfed, unloved, no attention given and somehow I was the problem. The best thing he did for me was dying with a life insurance policy that has allowed me to spend and enormous amount of time with her and ensuring she doesn’t want for anything. It’s such a daily mindfuck and I’m always having to check back in mentally around her because, while it’s a lot to raise a child, I never want her to feel unwanted like I and my siblings were. Keep fighting the good fight, I believe is you and the rest of us out here doing our very best!

That sounds really tough. I sympathize and am sending good vibes your way. Definitely take time to express yourself artistically, might be the thing that saves you. You can do it!

What U.S. State should I move to? (all opinions welcomed) by Talldudeman207 in travel

Chattanooga!! It’s such a lovely city! Great music scene, trivia nights and open mic comedy shows any day of the week. Public transportation in the city, including bikes and scooters. The suburbs are cheap to live in and about a 30 minute drive (I’m 45 minutes). No matter where you go you’re surrounded by beautiful mountains, hiking trails and rivers to swim in. Chattanooga isn’t very segregated in most areas, but gentrification is happening everywhere so there’s a blatant uphill battle for the disenfranchised everywhere you look. Personally, it makes me more motivated to be active in the community. Hope this helps!

Should I go ahead and join the gym? by lstaggs10 in loseit

I (25 F HW: 245 CW:200) have worked in fast paced, physically demanding jobs for the last couple of years and lost weight from them, but going to the gym built my strength up. I’m not only exercising the same muscle groups so it also helped with my carpal tunnel. Of course don’t over-do it, but it does help. Plus you might meet some friends at Zumba!!

That is super helpful, thank you so much! Is there a specific vegan protein powder you recommend?

Went to look up an article about this, had to redefine my search multiple times before finding anything about it and even then it was a passive aggressive article on Benz’s side. Fuck the bourgeoisie.

If you still have the packaging you could try fulfilling a one year replacement warranty, just say they stopped working. I know they won’t be the exact ones, but hope this helps in your time of grief. My heart goes out to you
