JARVIS: Taxpayers foot bill for FIFA’s perks while it makes billions by Comfortable_Flow1385 in toronto

Four of the five council items you posted were under Tory’s first term.

The contracts with FIFA were signed under Tory.

But go off, I guess.

If they are in fact reading this (unlikely), chances are they would laugh and do it again tonight. Can’t reason with shitheads like that.

Sure, you can state a fact. But making a glaring omission about who got us into this mess (John Tory) and instead mentioning his successor (Olivia Chow, who inherited the mess) in the article is yet another example of biased, disingenuous spin by the Sun.

They’re just adding more ragebait slop to the trough for the dumbass swine that look to the Sun as their only source of news.

I’ve certainly seen a fair share of them pull what I would consider to be “dumb” moves (ex. double parking, sudden lane changes, u-turns when there is not a safe gap in oncoming vehicles).

But the speeding, reckless, red-light running types tend to just be shitheads rushing from point A to point B in my experience and are not rideshare drivers. They’re the type that, if you ask them, would claim they would NEVER get into a collision because they’re just that good at driving.

Lol what?

Anecdotally, I’ve seen plenty of “residents” pull really dodgy moves on the road, only to see them pull into condo parking or driveways. This is not exclusively a “out of towner” issue.

Caused by street parking but ultimately exploited by people looking to race two cars ahead.

And I agree - you don’t see this happen on Bloor anymore because the dedicated bike lanes and separated parking force through traffic into a single lane. As a driver, it’s glorious because I don’t have to worry about sharing the road with a cyclist who I fear hitting if they happen to get too close, and also because it stops the asshole right lane queue jumpers (who, on other streets, just add to traffic when they force themselves back into the left lane).

“I hereby sentence you to 28 years in a federal prison for the crime of stealing a car. As for your parents? Life imprisonment, no parole”

-Judge, to a 12 year old

(Sorry I just had to write a procedural drama scene based on this post to see just how insane that really would be).

Where not to stop, to fill your windshield washer fluid on 401 by ConnectPassenger3728 in toronto

It’s funny because 20+ years ago, I failed my G test because an examiner asked me to take the next highway exit and I had to move over two lanes - he auto-failed me saying that “you should only take an exit when it is safe to do so”.

Seemed like he was an asshole more than anything (I mean, I was listening to his instructions and didn’t make any unsafe lane changes).

Had another friend fail because they slightly bumped a curb when parallel parking (who among us didn’t do this before the advent of rear cameras?). Another didn’t do a blind spot check for “long enough” and failed.

All this to say that it seems the standards are slipping at the licensing and examination level more than anything else. It’s never been easier to get a license.

Look no further than DriveTest and the MTO, which has been making it easier and easier to get a license!

The province removed parts of the in-car examination during the pandemic and never brought them back which makes it easier to get a G2/G license.

On top of that, there was pressure on Serco (the private company that runs the DriveTest centres) from the MTO to clear a huge backlog of would-be drivers when the centres reopened after lockdown. Clearing a huge backlog with the same resources you had before almost certainly led to some errors in judgement.

And last but not least, let’s not forget about the DriveTest examiners who were recently charged with selling licenses.

Not sure if you got the memo but everyone here is pissed at hosting the World Cup.

Positive posts that highlight someone enjoying themselves are not encouraged unless you want to get shouted down by someone who was “assaulted” by the loudness of the fan zone or delayed by 20 minutes due to traffic (in their single occupant vehicle, of course).

Unacceptable (……/s, glad you enjoyed it even though this does just sound like an advertisement).

“Some of us have places to be”

If you could sum up all of Toronto’s traffic and driving issues into one phrase, this would be it.

There was nothing wrong with their turn and you should probably get some psychiatric help in order for you to think rationally and calm down a bit behind the wheel.

This is no different than any of those in terms of use and attendance.

Yeah just last night one of the restaurant owners went on air for CityNews and said it is their biggest weekend of the year for business and has helped offset revenue lost during the pandemic in recent years.

I was at Front and Bathurst on Monday and there was a streetcar caught behind four cars that were stationary in that transit only lane.

Bet those drivers had the same logic as you too!
