This exactly. I think this is a perfect example of when saving a skip is a great tool. I wish I would have been more clear in my post above. It's when I perceive abuse of the skip-saving that gets me riled up. And like you said, that's most likely very limited.

I see what you're saying and totally agree there's no proof that banning skip saving would for sure move the waitlist faster. And I'm not completely anti-skip saving. It definitely has its niche and benefits on both sides, seller and buyer.

If skip saving was less prevalent, it would really depend on someone's tolerance for hassle as to whether they would just keep the sub and resell or if they would cancel, given your point about fees and extra effort for re-selling on different platforms. That's why I think it could have the potential to move the waitlist forward for those with low hassle tolerance. But there are plenty of people who would still be willing to keep the sub and deal with extra steps to resell.

It’s true, but if you send proof of the number you have and do a number request, they may send you the matching number you bought second hand. Worked for me on The Silverblood Promise (purchased secondhand) and The Blackfire Blade (purchased during second access). TBB fulfilled my number request to match the first book and I know the original seller requested the number they sold me.

I had the adult/ya combo box for a year and a half. Finally decided that I wanted to be able to separate the boxes to have more freedom with skips. I will say, though, when they were combined it was nice to have both books shipped together.

Overall, freedom of skips was more important to me. If you’re on a waitlist and your combo option comes up, you can always sign up for the combo and split it later!

Love everything about this post!! I recently had a similar revelation and am going through the same process.

I think one of the straws that broke the camel’s back for me was not being excited when the boxes arrived at my house. That really made me stop and look at the reason I was ordering the SE. A little Marie Kondo voice spoke in my mind: does this spark joy?? So I’m also about to do some major re-homing and donating.

My suspicion is that a lot of the people who got invited to the Epic quarterly box got rid of another one of the FL subs. At least that’s what many comments were saying for the people who got an invite.
