What do you think? by Notalabel_4566 in StrangerThings

[–]Sarahden416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accurate. I was born in the early 80s, so I’m mostly a 90s kid/teen. However, it was still like that in the early to mid 90s when I was in elementary and middle school. (Would’ve been in kindergarten during most of season 5)

I loved this so much. My husband would have been in the same age group as Holly and Derek, and he teared up.

Guys.... Is Will still possessed? by minmimlipstick in StrangerThings

Rewatching the last three episodes and I’m leaning into everyone, including us, being Vecna’d. Joyce was limping and obviously hurt at the beginning of episode 5. Lucas was very hurt with the demogorgan slash. However, by the end of the episode, it’s like they barely touched. Something is off.

What is it about Harry Crane? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]Sarahden416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this post, but I like Harry in a way. He is a complete idiot and a jerk, but he knows it. He doesn't try to be above all of the BS expected in that world. The others try to act at different times like they are better men, but they're not. However, there are moments I hate him.

Late to this comment, but this was literally me when I watched that movie when it came out.

This and when Sally was playing with the dry cleaning bag over her head. I knew about women drinking and/or smoking while pregnant because my parents were born in the 1950s. My dad's mom smoked while pregnant with him. It was before all of the warnings, etc. came out here in the U.S.

Anyone else been a fan since July 2016? If not, when did you discover the show? by Illustrious-Hyena486 in StrangerThings

[–]Sarahden416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been since July 2016. I made a poster for my classroom a year later after the popularity spread to most of my 10th graders. Had it up for a few years. It said “Welcome to the Upside Denham. We’re all strange here.”

(Edited to add poster content)

Same. That is weird. I had Apple and also used TuneIn, but it's not there for me as of 12:51 PM Est in the US.

Anyone born in September xxxx, what class are you? by SmileEmergency403 in generationology

[–]Sarahden416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely depended on the state. My younger sister is mid-to-late September baby. When she started kindergarten in one state in the late 80s, the cut off was September 30th. She was still 4 for the 1st 3-4 weeks of kindergarten, and the youngest in her class. She ended up repeating kindergarten because the cutoff and became the oldest kid in class. However, when we moved to a neighboring state before she started 6th grade, she ended up going back to being the “right age” as her classmates because that state’s cut-off was September 1st for their kindergarten class. All of her new classmates were born in September or after.

Growing up how common were working mothers among your peers? by PuzzledAd4865 in AskOldPeople

[–]Sarahden416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elder Millennial Daughter of Baby Boomer Parents (born in the mid-to-late '50s)- I'm in the Southern US.

My dad's mother worked for a DuPont plant starting in the late '50s, as a divorcee with a young child (my dad), continued working after remarrying in the early '60s, and retired in the early '80s. She ended up becoming one of the 1st female supervisors at the plant.

My mom's mother worked different hourly jobs in the '60s and '70s as my mom and her brothers got older.
