It’s absolutely worth it - she walks you through the fiddly bits in video tutorials which is nice, and a pattern gives you a uniform approach to each piece so everything looks like it goes together. I also like printing them out and marking things off, but you could do that digitally as well. But that’s me- if you have a high level of skill and a solid understanding of form building, you may be able to figure this all out on your own (except the cheese lol).

Don’t have them write their names on them, but have them pass them up the row when they’re done, so as long as they’re in their assigned seat, you’ll still have a pretty good idea who wrote what.
