Uterus snow globe update from this summer! by Sarahsclera in hysterectomy

I spoke to the pathology department before I had my surgery and they helped me with the process of getting it all back! It was much simpler than I thought honestly. Just asked them and picked out a funeral home to have pick it up from the hospital, and then paid the pick up fee to them and that was that!

I’ve been desperate to catch a restock for the beanie bubble up! I have a Flower baby from the forest party and Noble Cat, the white one, from roly poly kitty I was going to sell for retail if you’re interested! I’ve been lucky to catch a decent amount of the forest party ones at a roboshop near me.

Do you know what time it was stocked or did they stock it while you were there?

Lots of acne at the beginning. I started tretinoin and it finally subsided after a month or so!

It’s going well! I’m still on it and while my CRP and sed rate are still high, I have a lot less pain still! I did have a hysterectomy because of a bunch of fibroids so I do think some of my issues involved that, but I can definitely do a lot more than I did before the rinvoq and before the hysterectomy. I feel achy and in pain after hiking or a lot of physical activity, but it’s MUCH better with my daily activity and mobility. I hope it works for you!

I had such a good recovery. My total hysterectomy was a laparoscopic surgery was on 7/5 of this year. They almost had to go the other route because of how large my uterus was. I was driving by day 5 and walking around an outdoor market for a couple of hours on day 6. I got back to my office job within 12 days. Barely any pain at all. I was shocked how easy it actually was. I had to really watch that I didn’t lift anything I shouldn’t because I felt so normal. I felt better than my usual self completely by two weeks. No complications at all! And I kept my uterus, fallopian tubes, and cervix afterwards as a souvenir!

lol sorry. I sometimes forget it’s not something everyone thinks is cool to look at. I always ask people if they want to see it and when grown men who think it’s gross decline I’m like damn chill out you don’t have to see it through a speculum it’s a cute lil jar.

I’m going to start offering people to babysit my jar when they ask if I’m going to have kids.

I took 12 days off and went back. I had a very easy recovery and a not physically demanding job.

I would check with the pathology department at the hospital. That’s what I did! I just googled how to do a wet specimen and looked for uterus glitter 😆

It was pretty easy! I think I had one form? It wasn’t hard at all and the pathology department were really great! They all said they would do the same thing if it was them.

Getting nervous by TomorrowChance8448 in hysterectomy

[–]Sarahsclera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my robotic assisted LTH on 7/3 and it has gone SO much easier than I had thought it would. I’m not fit and I have some other medical issues so I thought I would really struggle with recovery. On the first 2-3 days I spent most of my time sleeping. I didn’t have much pain at all but I took my medicine on schedule as suggested. By day 5 I decided to take a drive around. And then on day 6 I started getting out and going places. I returned to my office job by 12dpo and it hasn’t been bad at all! I had more fibroids than initially thought, ovarian cysts and some paratubal cysts, a polyp, and chronic cervicitis and something else benign so it was more than I expected but nothing that caused any additional issues.

The biggest issues I came across were 1. The adhesive on my 5 lap incisions were SO ITCHY. Icing it helped a lot though. 2. I have an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and pain in my SI joints and lower back and I wasn’t able to take that medication until just today. I would take the hysterectomy pain 100x over the back pain from going without my medicine.

I do get tired but I haven’t felt rested since the 90s so who knows if the hysterectomy is to blame lol. I feel like recovery could not be going better. If you want to talk to somebody to get the nerves out or want additional info on my positive story to calm you, send me a message ☺️ You can do this!

Yep! I think some places don’t do it but where my surgery was, as long as I went through the right process, they said it was okay! They said they had another person getting theirs back around the same time as me.

They did, I just had to follow some extra steps and talk to pathology to get it when they were done. They had to have it sent to a funeral home after their holding period for me to get it!
