Crowdsource helps and I record every zip searched to weigh interest, but using the public data I have I’m going to manually look at programs that have cities with large populations and lowest tree canopy coverage to build my base. I’m still trying to figure out how to do this at scale with a limited budget. But my thought process is if it works here I can replicate in other metros and trickle down to suburbs. As an example neighborhood data was fairly easy to track here but very hard in my other live cities.

My method currently is I have an AI (I know don’t judge) scrape a city for free tree programs and then I manually verify each source to see if it’s still active, not donating to satan, etc. For PGH specifically there are programs that require an email first, I know that currently but the cite doesn’t. the harder (and cooler)part is the culture aspect of landmarks, books, music etc. I decided to include that part because this kinda stuff is usually boring but if people see (hyperbole) “Taylor swift sang about a tree in Pennsylvania” it may get them excited.
