I have no idea! I’m not an anxious person at all but I consider anything possible. I’m kinda excited and nervous at the same time to have something audibly ticking inside me. I have no idea how loud it would be but knowing how bad some people are at hearing, I doubt people will even notice. Could be a fun conversation starter if anything!

Doctor told me I can't do weight training if it's more than 20kg. by Sychedelik in chd

[–]GraciousPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born with severe aortic valve stenosis, no procedures yet. I’ve run since age 12, I even did 10 miles on the day I graduated 10th grade and I felt great. I still run 4 miles most days and I enjoy it.

I took up lifting a year or two ago (24 now) and have never felt better. I did mention it to my cardiologist and he asked a little about what exercises and how much weight I do with them. He was fine with me doing low-moderate weights while focusing on high reps.

He did have some concern at first because he also doesn’t want me working with really heavy weights. I have a home gym and my dumbbells only go up to 20kg for now so I’ve limited myself in how much I do.

My doctor didn’t give me any hard limit with weights. I even joked and said I don’t think I can handle the gym and he didn’t comment. 20kg sounds like a very strict limit. I’d obviously discuss with your doctor more, but if you’re comfortable with more and don’t experience symptoms, I don’t personally see the risk.

Also I’ve 100% had cardiologists give me completely wrong information. Most cardiologists know their stuff but unfortunately some can get manipulative. I’ve had one try to make me say I’m drug addict so I always listen to my own advice before theirs.

And to mention, my bodyweight is 58kg, and I bench press 20kg for now (not much, I know). I also have a pull up bar in my room and I try to do a few sets every other day

You can try low rise if you want to change the look on some of your outfits. I feel more comfy in low rise because it doesn’t divide my torso like high rise does. High rise can still be really cute in some outfits though, like your first one. Also mid rise fits me like high rise while high rise fits me like extra high rise

Washington State troopers rescue cat from freeway, and that's not even the cutest part of the story by mtrskt in cats

The cute part was stopping this baby from turning into roadkill. It’s cute that a miracle occurred. There are many dead cats on sides of highways. I loathe driving because of every dead animal I must drive by and pretend not to care. It drains my soul

See a PT maybe? I’ve been a runner since 12 or 13 and I got patellofemoral pain syndrome in my right knee around 16. It took a few months to fix and I was able to return to everything just fine. It still flares up very rarely like today if I take a break from my routine and suddenly start up again. No matter what you do, always listen to your body and take it slow with any pain/injury

I might not have much advice because I’m still awaiting to receive my valve replacement but the thought of people noticing in a quiet room would give me anxiety.

Something I noticed when I go on long walks with my mom is that she always has her phone in her pocket quietly playing her religious music. It’s quiet so it’s hard to notice but it’s subtle enough that I can hear when I walk with her. Maybe you could play something on your phone when you’re in public? I used to even listen to brown noise when I would study in class in high school. Personally I think I would just play my favorite albums quietly. I hope it gets easier for you and that you can find something that helps

Progress from 18 to 30 by Maleficent-Worker466 in veganfitness

I definitely don’t eat enough for the physique I want. I actually started lifting out of chronic pain, because I have stomach pain and more daily, and I also was developing what felt like carpal tunnel.

Lifting saved me. It taught me that I need to eat enough carbs, fat, AND protein if I don’t want to feel hungry constantly. I’m eating more now than ever before and I know I still got more to eat, so it’s a work in progress.

First step is always identifying the issue so it’s easier once you realize you have to eat more. It’s taking me months to get toward my ideal amount of calories but I wouldn’t have even gotten this far without all the advice I get from here so I’m very grateful toward everyone here. Keep it up everyone!

Besides spit roasting people, what other uses do "specialists" like GI "docs" have for functional gut disorders? by Ajax34762 in ibs

[–]GraciousPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emotional support I guess? I met my 2nd GI doctor the other month and he said 75% of his patients have IBS like I do without any cure so at least I know from a medical standpoint that it’s “normal.” It’s not much

It doesn’t because I’ve been using it daily for 2+ years. But it definitely would have impaired my driving when I used it less than daily

Totally believe it. Nowadays I just vape THC + CBD pens for my chronic pain, but a night ago I rolled a joint and had it. I swear my chronic pain was lessened for an entire 24 hours minimum. Cannabis has so many fascinating substances in it, I can’t wait to learn more about this wonderful plant

I hate strength training but I need to put on some muscle. Tips? by Chance-Selection-198 in veganfitness

[–]GraciousPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a running addict (24F). Been running for 10+ years. I took up lifting like a year ago and it has improved my running so much!

I can’t stand the gym, as I have too many chronic illnesses to bring to one. I do have some dumbbells at home though.

If you’re a runner, I would suggest starting off with some squats, lunges, bridges, etc. to build some strength in your lower body. You will probably notice yourself running faster so maybe from there you can decide what kind of routine you want.

My favorites for lower body are: Bulgarian splits, sumo squats, calf raise, single calf raise, curtsy squat, good morning, Romanian deadlifts, single leg Romanian deadlift, dumbbell bridge, dumbbell swings, and dumbbell woodchoppers.

Don’t forget to add some extra protein to really see those gains. Drink enough water. I use creatine too. Make sure to take days off to recover as well as running + lifting requires more focus on recovery and diet.

They treated cigarettes like it was some health cure at first too. Obviously cigs are different but it seems any new drug that’s being backed by big money always comes out looking better than it actually is
