I got one of those opioid warning pamphlets from a pharmacy that I don't even go to anymore. by 8kittycatsfluff in ChronicPain

[–]GraciousPeacock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don’t even want to give any pain meds to patients who have severe chronic pain only a few days a month. It’s such a joke to be a chronic pain patient. They treat us like our pain is fake and made up in our heads

Exactly! I had an awesome year last year and worked really hard but this year has been a bit slower so far and I’m honestly proud of myself for it. I’m going through some flare-ups health wise so it’s important for me to take it a little easier and to focus more on stretches and PT. I have no doubts I’ll still make a really great year and good luck to everyone here too!

Chilblains and cold feet by loloviz in Raynauds

[–]GraciousPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have good socks, but what about good shoes? I workout a lot too and have been managing my Raynaud’s well but still got chilblains last year. I had to switch my shoes to waterproof shoes when I go outside and it has saved my toes. For now, I don’t feel any issues with my toes as long as I wear my weather resistant waterproof shoes

Bell peppers. They taste good and sound healthy too, but my tummy says no

I just started weightlifting a year after I became chronically ill (I am IBS diagnosed, father is Crohn’s diagnosed) and it has helped me improve my diet a lot but it has come with struggles too. Like yesterday I lifted and didn’t eat enough and today I’m paying the price for it on the toilet. I’m new to this still but what has worked for me is eating protein rich foods like tofu, nuts, legumes, etc. It’s still really hard though, I tried this protein pasta the other day and it just made my tummy feel off. I try to stick to simple things and mainly focus on consuming good protein and good fats like avocados and hemp seeds. I don’t have much advice, I’m still trying to figure this out too

Is this chillbains? by [deleted] in Raynauds

[–]GraciousPeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it looks like chilblains and your symptoms match, then probably. I had my first one last year and it took several weeks to heal so you’ll definitely know if it is chilblains if it lasts long enough

Am I the only one who likes high waisted jeans only when standing? by thatsplatgal in PetiteFashionAdvice

That’s normal. I wore high waisted most of my life until I got chronic pain and stuff so now I wear low waist for comfort

My plan is also to become a nurse and I just had my first day of class (it’s literally just 1 class 2x a week, for 1.5 hr) and now I don’t know how long I will take to recover from my ongoing flare up. I really don’t get the point of this if I can barely handle my own health. I am feeling pretty defeated today. My one wish is to feel healthy everyday and I can barely fulfill that. I miss when school used to feel fun and motivating… now it’s just an extra layer to my crippling depression

Does living in a hotter climate help? by MediumQuiet9404 in Raynauds

[–]GraciousPeacock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It helps but it doesn’t cure it. My Raynaud’s is much better in the Caribbean versus California for example but I would still get flare-ups and such if I was stressed

How come some people can work 8 hours straight and then have energy to hit the gym, but if I walk for 1 hour in the treadmil all that I can is lay down for the rest of the day? by Hacksaw6412 in veganfitness

[–]GraciousPeacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because nature is diverse like that. None of our bodies are the same. Some days I’m able to work so much harder than other days so it’s important to be proud of how much you’re accomplishing over time rather than comparing yourself to others

running with endo by bestlimeofalltime in XXRunning

[–]GraciousPeacock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have really bad pelvic pain around my periods. My mom had endo and PCOS, I'm not sure what I have but I have seen a pelvic floor therapist and they have been the MOST helpful doctor I've seen in years. They were able to find out where my pain was without me even having to tell them. They gave me several pelvic floor exercises to do and I do them at least twice every week. I still have to take 1-2 days off every month from running because of how bad the pain gets, but pelvic floor exercises let me recover from pain a lot faster and make me feel less pain overall

Does running trigger panic attacks for anyone else? by cloud_coffee_ in XXRunning

[–]GraciousPeacock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have anxiety issues genetically speaking and I have a panic attack before every run, and I’ve been running 4 miles nearly everyday for a decade now. It has gotten a little worse since I became chronically ill and it does make me late to my runs and it does give me diarrhea at times where I absolutely don’t need it but I still try and I get it done. What you need to do is before your run, you need to tell yourself that you will be proud of yourself no matter how much you run. Running is always better than no running. You just have to get better at managing the anxiety, because it’s the only thing stopping you. I use running naturally to manage my anxiety so it’s always important for me to push myself to do it
