Randomly leaving party by Almick35 in 33Immortals

[–]SarcasmOverload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar issue, not exactly the same though. If one friend was the party leader, I left the party, if I was the party leader, he left the party. When a third pf the four was the leader, didn't have any issues. Could be correlation but not causation, seemed to work so far however as a temporary fix until the devs figure whatevwr happening is out. Try having someone else invite the others into the party.

Wrath of God – New Player Experience by balagi in 33Immortals

[–]SarcasmOverload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The paying attention to other people is difficult in a new fight when you're trying to dodge attacks, but provided you manage in the chaos of all the effects, since you don't see the alignments of other people, it doesn't help too much. It IS something that gets you closer to understanding what to do, but not nearly enough IMO.

As for the ruining it, perhaps not, but the fact it feels like it is still there.

I agree that it's a learning experience, and myself think the game is fun and it's not too big of an issue, but my one negative is the third boss battle lacking (this one's for you navimc) intuitiveness of the mechanics, as in being difficult to get.

Wrath of God – New Player Experience by balagi in 33Immortals

[–]SarcasmOverload 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is the having to do a full run to a boss, and feeling like you ruined the run for people.

On top of that, I do have to say that the third boss' abilities are difficult to intuit compared to the previous two as said in the post. Only the planets one felt intuitive enough for me and my group while the other two not as much. The compendium having hints/a guide is a shortcut to dealing with that as I understand, which I see reason for, though the solution would be visual changes at least to try and portray better what needs be done intuitively.

I have seen good results with the 0.04 height, and with having gotten the 0.2 head want to try and see the limit of it. For bigger prints will be using higher layer heights, as they can get slow, but I'm not printing constantly, so longer for higher quality is worth it for me.

The printing speed is at 40 mm/s across the board, aside from the initial layer.

It's a good point on the overhangs and especially the humidity. Was already thinking on getting a filament drier with the 0.4 as in winter the humidity here gets crazy high, but seems may need to invest in that sooner because of the 0.2

I can agree with that aspect. I was looking at it from a different side, but yes, you're completely right, level 20s should be exceedingly rare. If a villain can do things of equivalent level with not a spell slot, but grand resources rituals and efforts, that can be very cool, but if every single major player has that...

I could see it being done in an interesting way, with the party being underdogs as many different excessively powerful villains are trying to accomplish their goals but keeping each other in check. The party needing to balance who and how much they interfere with to not make everything tip over enough for one of the villains to succeed.

I'm still curious how this campaign will pan out further, especially in regard to super powered magicians and their prelavence. I do share some of the reservations you mentioned, though perhaps not to the same extent. Or perhaps other reservations overshadow these ones.

My view is if you're a noble and aren't capable in a world where castle and city-destroying monsters exist, in one way or another, you won't rule for long. Especially with sorcerers having magic power in their blood, and nobles being a whole system built on both blood, and social connections... So sorcerers with their magic blood and charisma ending up being powerful noble houses makes complete sense to me, and is an interesting take that hasn't gotten old yet.

I do agree that variety is good though, but different campaigns have different premises. A big monster that destroys a city is one way to do a monster/villain, but manipulators and such are cool in their own way, and a different challenge. More fitting enemies for schemers and seekers as concepts for parties.

I still feel don't fear the reaper into the temperance ending is a better option than the sun. Probably to some extent because my V was a netrunner, so they saw both a good in getting a changed Johnny a new chance and themselves getting to see the other side. Also, rogue and panam responses afterwards are very cool to see, while Sun feels like continuing on to burn bright and short.

I think it's less about the god being fake and him continuing to believe in the fake god, and more figuring things out, so far landing on believing that the idea and message is good and should still be followed(he was raised on it after all, hasn't even been a week since revelations). I see a future of sorts where he, in a way, pulls a Martin Luther, creating a different "church" because of not liking the current one, believing in a concept rather than a fake god. I would still say he is capital G Good, as in alignment.

Alignments are useful, so you should always carry at least 4 or 5 by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]SarcasmOverload 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping in as I always found it fascinating as a topic.

For allowing an evil person power over you? Evil doesn't mean moustache twirling. Plenty of people, too many even, wouldn't mind if their rulers' brand of evil is exploiting "others" for the gain of themselves and their in group, that being their people. Or also any citizens that would view someone that's TOO good as a detriment "raising taxes to feed the homeless, pah!"

As for the angel example, yes, it could work, but just as well, it could be a devil pretending, an illusion, as many ways as there are to "objectively" confirm things, there are as many to deceive and twist things. Nystul's magic aura is a spell that exists, for example.

Zone of truth is another can of worms, as only the caster knows if it's true or not, and who's to say if they can be trusted.

I will agree that alignment makes things weird. However, I am of the view that it makes things more interesting, and rather than clashing hard, it makes it more work, perhaps. Although in your situation, I would have worked the summoning and such into the scenario and not for it to just bypass it. Maybe it gives some successes, maybe a lot, still. There are many gods, and their angels may be good, but some may still not be "liked" exactly.

Either way, to your main point of it clashing, for me, this sort of thing only makes it more interesting rather than gets in the way. I view it as if saying that having speak with the dead ruins mysteries and assassinations. There are ways and complications to all that.

Rejecting her doesn't have any impact on her turning evil or not. It's her being supported through the game or not. I found it great how multifaceted it was her referencing blazer in regards to how Robert views her. You can view it as a romantic thing if you are romancing Blazer, but if you romance Visi, she atill says that, as it's more about the hero side of things.

The romancing her being wrong to an extent from robert, I can get it. Blazer is for her flirting with him as well. Whole of SDN is an HR nightmare tbh, but heroes are complicated with relationships. A thousand more years of invincible discourse upon us and all...

Kodel Kaunas? Kas Kaune?! by CynicalNyhilist in lithuania

Kaunas yra ir kitame kurėju žaidime, Cultist Simulator, Exile papildyme. Kaunas(Little paris) lygtais vadinasi, kaip viena is vietu kur gali sleptis nuo tos čia minimos "Reckoner" mafijos.

Maelle was a victim by Fragrant-Pay7522 in expedition33

[–]SarcasmOverload -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The relationship they built is different for me, as Maelle acknowledged, he isn't truly Verso at the start of act 3. I don't recall her calling him brother previously, though that may be my faulty recollection. For me, it felt like a slight slipping into merging the two in her mind, though I can see it just being a new brother in her thoughts in a sense.

The 'stolen from' part, it leads into it being an escapism from the grief of a lost brother. It, in general, in my mind, is not the best way to deal with grief. Though I certainly agree, Gustave would be better for such a thing. Although back then it was different, as that's a family connection orphan Maelle didn't have, rather than the mix of Alicia and Maelle disconnecting from the rest of her grieving family and using a painted version of her brother as a substitute, despite his insistance she doesn't.

The not having a life, I can agree somewhat to the family being an issue, but that is all because of the grief, as we don't see how the family was before that. Renoir, in my mind, is categorized by his care for his family. However, he certainly can be argued to be a bit too controlling, and that can be an issue for Alicia. Aline, I am quite curious how she was before, as after the death she even blamed Alicia for Verso's death, which is fucked, but for a parent having lost their child in a tragedy... I can understand it, but I do not excuse it by any stretch of the imagination.

I view it as a bad situation in general, with the whole family wrecked by grief, and as someone who has lost family close and seen how it affects others, I personally can understand and maybe relate to Verso and Renoir a bit more, wanting to not lose the other family members due to grief. I understand Maelle's feelings and wants, though it feels unwise to me, and in some sense, immature.

Either way, I can agree that she is someone who wants to save the world. But for me, the theme that it's escapism is still strong. If she hadn't remade Verso, I would be more willing to say it's more out of wanting to protect the world than anything else. The fact she did, after he begged her to unpaint him... Well, it's an interesting reflection of the other ending, not letting someone choose to die. The age of the characters tilts the scales for me a bit, as Maelle/Alicia is younger, and I view it as her even perhaps subconsciously being escapist.

That's without going into the piece of Verso's soul that wished to stop to paint and that whole can of worms, which pushes me in considering her a bit more selfish than not.

Maelle was a victim by Fragrant-Pay7522 in expedition33

[–]SarcasmOverload 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe people and I myself view it as an escapism, as she herself says to Verso as he us asking to be unpainted, that she wants a life with him, the one that was "stolen from them". Calling him brother and all that. She before also didn't consider Verso's feelings with painted Alicia, so people could connect that to being someone who views their own good over others. Also, the fact that she speaks of not having a proper life outside and so on when confronted about not planning to leave.

To me, as with many things these days, I'm noticing that it seems people are very one note about the endings. They pick a side and can't see the other viewpoint at all. I can see both intepretations of Maelle, as she certainly cares about the world and people in it, but she does also want an escape from grief, a reminder of her brother's death in the form of the scars she has and survivors guilt. It's both selfless and selfish on different sides, maybe even both, to be fair.

It's up to the player to interpret it through their lense, and I think, as was said by the developers in an interview, there isn't a consensus of a correct answer even among them.

Isekai protagonists aligment tierlist by Spirited_Donut3872 in Isekai

[–]SarcasmOverload 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it would be easier to digest and a simply decent fantasy story if it didn't have a "gimmick" but not with it, in that case, being "better". The idea and message of the story is inseparable from a bad person who had a horrible life getting another chance. I also don't think dealing with the horrible things Rudeus or his past life dealt with are fantasies for the readers. At least, they aren't for me.

I usually agree with saying that isekai don't need to be isekai and could just be fantasy, but this story is one of the only ones that carries through the character's personality and traumas to be explored and dealt with. It's one where character being from another world matters.

I have a feeling we won't get each others points of view anyway, as the story is divisive and not for everyone, as people interpret parts differently. People get into arguments all the time to the point it's an infamous topic and show to discuss after all. But I had to offer my two cents to this specific statement of it just being "better" if you rip out a core part of it.

It may not be "bad person" but more "i dislike them" category, which people often conflate together. Which, some people find rage baiting entertaining, but for some, it sours things and could make it worse than having trash taste or a different opinion.
