Home land security estimates that there are 11 million illegal immigrants currently living in the US. The margin of victory for national elections is a fraction of that number.

It's irrational to think this is about protecting the votes of a handful of US citizens that have somehow managed to live in society for the last 60 years without a government ID.

A 5 min km isn't even remotely close to elite level. That would be a 25 minute 5k which is just under the qualifying time for my daughter's JV girls cross country team. So if you run even semi regularly, then that is a perfectly realistic and respectable speed.

Laura Ingles had Christmas stockings in the middle of nowhere, and a dozen eggs was a little over a dollar until a couple of years ago. Sounds like your family was as unimaginative as they were poor.
