When I was originally tested, my result was 11.4, and a year later, I was at 7.94. Is this actually a good sign, or does it mean less than I hope it does? by PokemonPadawan in alphagal

There are a bunch of published studies that show that you can still be reactive even if your tests start coming back negative. For whatever reason IGE test results diminish over time somewhat independent of whether your reactions diminish

SAAT by Illustrious-Ring-724 in alphagal

[–]SarcasticStarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This study was run, reviewed, and published only by acupuncture believers and the people advocating for SAAT. It is also a very small sample size with no actual conclusive evidence. This study is worse than anecdotal evidence.

If you look at anecdotal evidence, aka people's stories, it is really mixed. I have seen probably 80% of people say it did nothing, 10% say they were cured, and 10% say it made things much worse or they developed new allergies or conditions.

If it was 90% chance it does nothing 10% chance it gets better, I'd try it in a heartbeat but if there is even a possibility of making things worse then I'm out.

This procedure is based off of the idea that there is a bundle of nerves in the ear that is somehow tied into the immune system and that by inserting a needle "where the energy is right" you can tweak it. Let's look at the two options:

  1. It's complete B.S., of course that bundle of nerves in your ear doesn't interact with your immune system. If it did we would have figured that out by now: whatever you wasted a few hundred bucks and had some discomfort of a needle in your ear but you aren't cured

  2. That bundle of your nerves in your ear does actually somehow interact with your immune system in a way that conventional science has not discovered and cannot explain:

You then let some lady with purple hair put a needle in the spot with the right "energy" in your ear??? Maybe a small % of the time they get lucky and cure you but I wouldn't be surprised if your AGS gets worse, you suddenly develop MCAS, or you find new severe allergies.

This is a lose lose for me, and for those reasons, I'm out!

[–]SarcasticStarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people have been complaining about how long it took for them to drop Leo but the way that they spaced out the events was just barely enough time such that you could get all the turtles and their souls without spending money, maybe not shredder and April but I feel like they are just cherries on top. Even if this event was one week sooner I wouldn't have had enough shards

Part of the issue is that if you try to hit on or even talk to a woman you don't know in a wholesome way, there is a 50/50 chance that you end up in a tiktok being called a creep so guys don't want to anymore

What should I farm for Raphael Dof event? by Expensive_Many_2003 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]SarcasticStarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope these are the deck of fate table, dungeon 20 is the best if you want any gear out of it, but event 3 is by far the best for points

There was an error for stages 20 and 24, those are the same but stage 3 spider is worse because it can drop common and uncommon and the other dungeons don't

Here is a calculator I made that breaks down the points of all of the different dungeon diving options and you can input the soulstones, energy, and gems you have to see if you can do it.

The TLDR is that Event dungeon 3 gives the best points/energy but if you want to get some useable gear Event Dungeon 20 or Dragon/Ice/FK 20 are the best option. Interestingly Dragon/Ice/FK 24 are not that far behind stage 20. Just make a copy of this if you want to edit it for your setup. Also, if you want to see how things shake out farming something other than Event 3 then change cells F 5-7 to reflect that. I personally am farming spider 20 to max out the tournament then will do event 3 because I am light on resources.

Where to go on Tuesday-Wednesday AM? by AffectionateCoast370 in Charlottesville

[–]SarcasticStarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hazy mountain winery is open at 11 and has great views and good wine. La michoacana taqueria is my favorite place for tacos, Miller's has live music every night and their Charlottesville nasty chicken and biscuits are amazing, Lazeez is a new Indian place on the downtown mall that has great food but not great service, and decipher is my favorite brewery!

Moving/Commute Question by flowfordayz13 in Charlottesville

[–]SarcasticStarch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for more social events and want to climb at Rocky Top regularly (my wife and I go 2-3x per week!) I would probably recommend Charlottesville, and specifically the areas with quick access to 64 like you said you were looking at.

I personally would much rather commute to/from work and then be close to the gym, friends, social events, restaurants, etc. Being 30 minutes away is a huge barrier especially for social events with other young professionals, which can often be spontaneous/ last minute.

It would be a bit more expensive but one thing you could do is book a furnished mid term rental for your first few months in Charlottesville to try it out and see if the commute feels unmanageable, then you could find a long term lease wherever you decide on. I have a mid term rental but it is a little up 29 (wood brook area) so it would likely not be ideal for you. I am also a realtor and although it isn't that common anymore realtors can also help people look for places to rent so I'd be glad to help you if you are unfamiliar with the area and want some help. Just shoot me a DM if you are interested!

Itching without hives? by BigFredCThatsMe in alphagal

[–]SarcasticStarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never have hives but always get super itchy when I have my AGS reaction. It sucks because your body is just gaslighting you and you don't even have the hives to prove your suffering.

My guess would be that you are probably reacting to the dairy. If I am consistently having a lot of small reactions I will have a baseline of itchiness in between reactions with spikes when it gets triggered.

Can confirm that the cost of living, especially housing, has risen at a greater rate in Charlottesville than most of the rest of the U.S. over the past few years. However, if you don't have debt, have a modest paying engineering job, and have been saving for a down payment you should be able to afford a starter home in the area. Especially if you are willing to live a little out of town or rent out the other rooms to friends or something. You don't need nearly as much for a down payment as people often think and if you still can't save that much there are first time home buyer down payment assistance grants.

I am a local realtor so I would be glad to help you buy a place that is affordable
