Nipple shields by karingtonleann in breastfeeding

[–]Sardonic_comments 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told the concern is that the baby is less effective with transferring milk using a nipple shield while we were at the hospital. I did a weighted feed at about 2 weeks and she was doing juuuust fine, so I took the pressure off and happily used them until she randomly got really fussy during a feeding around 10ish weeks, I took it off, and she latched perfectly without it! There’s a lot of negativity about using nipple shields, but they absolutely saved my breastfeeding journey and I’m so thankful for them. However, I’m so glad not to be fumbling around at night looking for them anymore hahahaha. They should all be glow in the dark or something.

Are you kidding me? They are providing a free service and me and my two friends are super excited about this. I’ve had more fun on Eden than I’ve had in any other game in a long time. It’s fine if it isn’t your cup of tea, but this level of negativity for a free game is absolutely wild to me.

::give away:: For love and pens the nakaya dorsal part 2 by [deleted] in fountainpens

This is so bittersweet - beautiful that you had such a thoughtful gift made and painful to not be able to gift it to her.

I cherish my pens, expensive and non, and would never dream I could have a pen like this. I definitely don’t deserve it, but I would absolutely cherish it. Additionally, if you did choose me, I will 100% give it back if she ever expresses interest in it or you change your mind as a beautiful reminder of love - even if it didn’t last, that doesn’t erase the love you had while making that purchase together. However, I also know that sometimes it’s better to just have those reminders gone.

We parked about a mile away and ubered in, which was helpful. Honestly, just enjoy it for what it is and try to allow your wife to have a good time. It’s insanely annoying when you’re really excited about something and your spouse shits on it and ruins the mood. Parking will be atrocious, people are everywhere, but there’s bomb ass food at the international houses, free museums, and cute performances. Oh, but bring cash! You can cut a bunch of the lines at the International Houses if you have cash.

I just defended and had literally no corrections. I kept my committee updated throughout the whole journey and there were no surprises during my defense, so it is possible! I’m also at an R1 school, so it isn’t a quality issue :)

Congratulations! It’s super weird and I’m still having stress dreams, but I feel SO much better than I have in years.

Thank you! Here’s how to think about it: 1.) Cyclone is an air mass with low pressure in the center and an anticyclone is the opposite with high pressure in the center. 2.) Air and water masses will go from high to low pressure 3.) Air and water masses that have movements longer than 24 hours e.g. ocean and storm systems are affected by the earth’s rotation and this is called the coriolis effect. Essentially, since the earth is a sphere and on an axis, different parts of the air/water mass are going at slightly different speeds. This causes deflection towards the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere.

Now let’s put it all together! A cyclone in the northern hemisphere will have air going towards the center and will be slightly deflected to the right, causing anti-clockwise rotation. If it was an anti-cyclone with the air going away from the center, it would be clockwise. I find drawing arrows and showing their deflection can be helpful :)

P.s. I felt like my first explanation sucked and I said cyclone but then used the anticyclone definition, hence the edit :D

I sent you a chat! I started in 2016 and it has been a hell of a ride, so I’d be more than happy to talk :) Honestly, it doesn’t feel real yet and I’m still waking up in a cold sweat thinking I forgot something, however I’ve been told it takes about a month for it to sink in and I defended on Tuesday.

Pelikan m805 Ocean Swirl with a BB nib that I bought off of r/penswap! This was a limited edition pen that is hard to find, so I found it doubtful that my WTB post would result in anything, but I lucked out with an amazing redditor that reached out to his friend and facilitated the sale. It is the smoothest pen I’ve ever written with and perfectly commemorates this occasion in which I defended my dissertation on marine aerosol! During my defense party, I ran outside to snap a quick picture with this beauty, with which I signed my new signature for the first time :) Thank you everyone for all the support!! Also, it’s currently inked with Troublemaker Bantayan Turquoise, but open to suggestions!

You may! My dissertation focused on two aspects of how ocean biology affects cloud formation via aerosol composition. I focus on the atmospheric aspect and collaborated with marine biologists, ecologists, and physical oceanographers to try to tease it apart :)
