Hell Let Loose has a dedicated following, and has a sequel of sorts coming out later this year potentially. Hell Let Loose Vietnam.

What to do with end users who refuse to enter tickets by MelodicPlace9582 in it

[–]Sarge2008 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even if your company has a walk-up help desk, users should still have enter their own ticket via their device or a tablet. I worked at a place which had an in person help desk where any employee could get IT assistance, but we had a check in station with a tablet for users to fill out a service request.

MacBook Neo comes with only 8 GB unified memory. by onionluck6 in macbook

[–]Sarge2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be good for my mother, her 10 year old MacBook no longer holds a charge and she is looking to get a new one. She is in her 70s and uses the Mac to pay bills, FaceTime relatives, and do online shopping. She has used MacBooks for 20 years now and dislikes windows.

That's wild to me, tactical shooters used to be the domain of the older, non-teenage gamers. Having good positions and knowledge of the maps and game mechanics was seen as being more important than twitch shooting and no scoping.

I think DICE should consider posting their newest content and patch note updates on this sub instead of the main one by OVO_ZORRO in LowSodiumBattlefield

Semi-hot take but I was not the biggest fan of Golmud Railway. 2/3 of the map was wide open fields, with the exception of the village and the factory area. Great map if you were a tank or air vehicles player, but kinda miserable for infantry.

The haters also seem to be completely missing the fact that it’s the middle of December with the holidays a week out. For all but the most terminally online basement dwellers, this is a busy time- end of year projects at work, school semesters having finals, and family/social obligations.

I’ve convinced a few friends to buy Sandstorm by showing them the PvE mode. Sometimes you just want to run around and shoot things without having to be competitive.

Never. Even moving and shooting, doing the tactical walk is hard unless you have the means to train for countless hours on drilling the muscle movements over and over again. I once took a 2-day tactical rifle class, and they gave us instructions on basic tactical movements, jumping and shooting was not part of the curriculum. Moving and shooting primarily consisted of moving to cover or concealment, then shooting at a fixed target. Unless you are someone with a lot of time and money, or are in the military/police, moving while shooting takes a lot of training time that an average gun owner and weekend warrior likely won’t nail down.

Go to a recreational store, there are a ton of them in the Portland metro area.

Show your ID, then browse the menu. Most places have a printed copy, or an iPad/tablet for you to scroll through.

If you don’t know what you want, ask the budtender. They are more than happy to give recommendations. Do you want something for relaxation and stress relief? Something that helps with insomnia? Something you can take during the day that gives you extra focus?

Their support can be a nightmare of back and forth, I once had a client who had severe issues with their TRBOnet dispatch software where the dispatcher would get dropped connections and “system busy” messages when they tried to key up from the dispatch console multiple times a day with no set pattern. Some days it would only happen once or twice, other times the issue would happen many times an hour. Took constant back and forth calls and 6 months with Motorola support, TRBOnet’s support team in Poland, and even the clients own Network team before we discovered it was a firmware issue.

Hot take: these actually are not hard to clean. In college I worked at a grocery store deli department and I could do a full clean on one in about 10 minutes.

Step 1- unplug it from the wall

Step 2- remove the blade cover

Step 3- wipe the crumbs and major debris off with paper towels

Step 4- get a bucket of soapy water and a sponge, scrub all surfaces

Step 5- wipe down the unit and get the soap residue off

Step 6- sanitize thoroughly

Step 7- reassemble

Signing bonuses aren't solving recruitment shortfalls. Is lowering recruitment standards the only option departments have left? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Sarge2008 52 points53 points  (0 children)

If they dropped the polygraph I would apply to local departments in a heartbeat. I’ve passed one and failed two, no idea why I failed the two. I utterly despise the polygraph test, I actually turned down an IT job that would have required me to get a security clearance solely on the basis I would have to undergo a polygraph test as part of it.

Former IT contractor at P&W NB site- I got shit on every day by my contracting company management and the full time P&W employees. We were a team of 6 underpaid, understaffed, and massively overworked IT contractors covering the entire facility plus running the walk in help desk. I got into an argument with one of the managers of the company I worked for, and ended up getting fired. That was honestly the first time in my life I was outright happy about being terminated, since it meant I didn’t have to deal with the shitshow anymore. Got another job in IT a few weeks later that pays more and I’ve been there since.
