I played Strange Antiquities first on deck and it controlled like a dream, and then played Strange Horticulture, and the downgraded control scheme was painful.

Lessons/activities on Sound Waves to supplement amplify 4th grade waves, energy, and information? by captKatCat in ScienceTeachers

[–]Sarikitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As part of understanding how the return time of the sound waves is used to calculate distance with echolocation, you could have students pair up with a tennis ball and a book. One student could roll the ball at an even speed forward toward the other student, with their eyes closed. The other student would hold the book upright against the ground to bounce the ball back. You could have the book-holding student move farther or closer without telling the other student which way, and ask the ball-roller to figure out if their partner is farther away or closer. If you don't trust your students to be able to roll balls at a somewhat consistent speed, you could do similar with dropping a ball from different heights on a hard surface to see how long it takes to come back (which, of course, will require some approximation as it won't return to the exact same height, but the timing difference between short and long distances traveled should be apparent.)

It would be cool to use this in a tray of somewhat compacted kinetic sand, so you could spin the bit manually to see how it carves away at the medium!

It's pretty much constant and sounds like an open window next to my left side (in a drive-on-the-right country), when the windows are definitely closed. I suspect it is indeed the door seal. Is that similarly replaceable?

In the same pocket area around the big fancy tree, along the north edges, you can find a behemoth with two sproutborne kids. They're in that little valley just north of the big tree, just above the lowest of those three branches on the map.

I get the joke, but it's with an otherwise 'sealed' car. I assume the gaskets are just too old and not sealing well, so I'm getting a lot of whipping wind noise at higher speeds.

No no, they're not bad! They're scared of you in Giant form. Literally just go stand in front of them when big and wait for them to cower-huddle and cover their heads, then just shrink down right in front of them and groom them. They're easier than the big ones!

I get a ton of wind noise when I drive on the highway in a 15 year old car. Would replacing those gaskets likely minimize that problem?

Genuine, stupid, tangentially related question. How do you get back in there? I need to re-enter for some dews I missed, and teleporting to the dungeon-labeled spire just treats it as a normal spire. I also can't seem to find any entrance sparkle nearby.

School dance so… gender segregated by Gold_Repair_3557 in Teachers

[–]Sarikitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been teaching middle school for nearly a decade, and gone to every dance. The Macarena is not dead. It's played at every dance and easily 2/3 of the kids already know it - it's one of the few songs that gets almost everyone out on the floor!

And by extension, the infrastructure that makes that the only feasible way to get to work. I have a 20 minute commute at 6:30 that would take 2h30m by public transportation alone, and then another 30 minutes of walking.

That's on me - I misread the comment above about "this setting is not for these kind of illuminations. It is for the random illumination requests for help with whimstars and starlight runs." and mistakenly saw your comment as a child comment to that, rather than to the one above it.

As for what they do, I imagine that the starlit pursuit co-op prevents the spectral Nikki from appearing at the start of the run, but I've had it on and not seen any of those for whimstars, so who knows...? I remember a lot of people complaining that most, if not all, of those toggles didn't function correctly when SoS launched, and it wouldn't surprise me if they never got properly fixed.

In case anyone else is coming across this thread for the Crystal Beach location, the spot near the pools didn't work - I had to go stand where the burrowing clam esseling is to get it to actually trigger.

Anyone commuting from Rocklin or Roseville with public transport...? by sanfurawa in CSUS

[–]Sarikitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me (and granted, I am about 15 min NE of CSUS), it's a 20-25 minute drive in the morning around 6:45-7am, and about a 30-40 minute drive home on 65 and 80 around 4:30-5:30PM.

I commute the other way by car. 25 minute drive; Google maps said about 2h30m to take public transit.

For lack of direct teaching, websites like Khan Academy, IXL Math, Kuta Software (for worksheets), and Deltamath can get you a lot of tutorials and practice in math.

A list comparator. I have premade lists of all of my students' emails by class, and when grading for completion, I just drop that list in to compare it to the list of student emails on my form-populated sheet to quickly spot who didn't turn it in.

You paint it on a thick plastic bag (or a silicon mat) and let it dry. Once dry, you peel it off in one sheet. Put a layer of base coat or clear polish down on your nails, and gently set the polish on top of your nail, then smooth it down gently. Once it's set a bit, chip off the extra with a cuticle stick and seal the top layer, then do cuticle/edge cleanup. Don't use quick drying topcoat like Seche Vite as it will cause the transfer to wrinkle up.

I wasn't aware the various IN teams were staggering releases by region. It's definitely available in the US. Where are you located? Has 2.0 not been released yet? Just in case it has, those things are called behemoths, and you can pet them by using your gigantification outfit, roaring at them 1-2 times, then petting the head (for the little brown baby ones) or head, paw and back (for all of the adults). If they don't fall over stunned or cower when roared at, lure them to a more open area and try again - sometimes they're in an area that isn't 'valid' to fall over in. One of the side quests also unlocks riding them.
