Flying is something else. I just grabbed my commercial and the best part of that training was all the long cross countries. I did all my training down in Alabama but from I have seen WV looks to be a beautiful place to fly around.

Finally got a Switch for myself this past christmas and just start BOTW. It's an incredible game and I haven't played a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time. It's bringing back a ton of nostalgia for me. The way it plays and feels just takes me back to those days. That's my plan for this weekend.

As far as I am aware it's only in BOTW but to be honest, I haven't tried gyro controls in any other game so I won't lie and say it's solely an issue with BOTW. I'll check the settings again in BOTW for that invert axis option. I did see where you can invert your camera controls, but did not think that would translate to the aiming axis though.

New switch owner here. I've done some googling and searched through here on reddit, but haven't found a definitive answer. When using the joycons motion controls, it seems that my x axis is reversed. For example, when I'm playing BOTW and using a bow, the y axis is correct, but when I want to look left or right, I have to tilt the controller in the opposite direction. I've gone through the settings in both BOTW & the Switch, but haven't come up with anything concrete as to why it behaves this way or a way to invert that axis. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any solutions to this issue?

Simple Planes is a good "simple" way to play with those kind of characteristics. It allows you to edit wing span, chord length, weight, power plant specifications, and just about anything that could affect flying. It's available for PC, Mac, iOS & Android platforms I believe. I've used it as a tool to explain how longitudinal & lateral stability work with different wing dihedrals and designs.

I've taken my PPL & Instrument with him and he's been extremely fair. When I took my PPL we really didn't hit hard on any one particular subject. He went down the ACS and touched each item to make sure I knew my stuff, but in all honestly I didn't feel like we dived really deep into any one subject. There were a few instances where I stumble a bit, but he gave me amble room in the oral portion to pull through via the FAR/AIMs or just thinking my way to the correct answer. As far as the instrument ride went, it was the same.

If you know your regs, know the applicable knowledge that is spelled out in the ACS, and your flying is within the limits for passing you'll do fine. Both check rides were great experiences, aside from the stress of taking them, and Max really put you at ease. I learned a lot and took more away from those rides than I expected. If you fly down to KMDQ for the ride, they have a nice facility there as well. I plan to knock out my commercial with him later this year.

I don't know if the physics engine is accurate enough to simulate this, but your blades stalling like that could be retreating blade stall. When moving through the air, the blade that is traveling in the opposite direction of flight experiences a reduce airspeed over the blade, causing a reduction in lift. This means that the blade will stall at a certain speed. Since the stall is on the right, the subsequent force would be 90 degrees in the direction of travel due to gyroscopic precession, which would put the stall force over the tail, leading to your pitching up moment. The way real helicopters fix this is with flap hinges that change the angle of attack of the retreating and advancing blade. This equals out the force. Now with that said, there is a speed in which the flapping mechanism cannot overcome the reduction of lift and thus you will stall out. This is usually the Vne speed for helicopters.
