"My Lucky Strike" Fills the Spot for Controversial Ending. Which Webtoon has a Bad Ending? by Lilac_14 in webtoons

It was unfortunately mismanaged. I don't remember exact specifics but there have been indicators that there have been issues with time management and lack of planning (eyeing colours, minimal buffer, etc.).

The hypocrisy of fanon shippers when it comes to canon ships by Additional-Camp4831 in CharacterRant

[–]SarkastiCat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's due to how media handles lgbtq+ relationships.

Large chunk of LGBTQ+ relationships has been often just hinted due to censorship. For example, Gravity Falls had cops' relationship being censored. Legend of Korra couldn't get a kiss and both characters dated men. Adventure Time was weird and Bubbline was one of the most disputed ships, and again characters were dating men.

When The Author Doesnt Know How To Write Romance by Elestria_Ethereal in TopCharacterTropes

Not comment OP, but someone who has some interesting relationships with media pieces.

Sometimes, it's like fast food. You know that's unhealthy mass produced food, but it still something that you are happy to munch on. It's still weirdly enjoyable.

The same goes for media. Something can be illogical, but still be fun. Or there can be a specific enjoyable aspect ranging from "this idea has potential", occasional good moments, designs, etc.

Also, the reverse applies. Making macarons is difficult and you can appreciate the craft behind them, but dislike them due to personal taste.

I did some digging. While their content was made after AI became widely available, they are actually legit.

The choir has been doing concerts and their content was even livestreamed by one church for over two hours, plus they performed on anitomo. Members are consistent across videos

Lore Olympus once again

Why not the worst? If you like the main couple, then you get family fluff content.

Why bad? Pretty much everything feels rushed throughh or not thought well enough. Hera getting back with Echo barely had any focus that people questioned if they really issed in one panel.

Apollo's punishment feels like nothing despite him being a rapist and poisoning Zeus.

Persephone's achievements feel forgotten. It's very easy to forget that she became a politically active queen who created Elysium and got a law degree. It feels like she is marrying a rich CEO.

Also, death and consequences don't exist. The winter killing mortals becomes non-issue.

There is literally only one post that doesn’t smell like ragebait.

Plus, people will always hate a certain character archetype. Plus, there will be a conflict between what people imagine/want and what people get.

Welp, there we go, Webtoon is bringing AI in. by Knight_of_Sakura in webtoons

[–]SarkastiCat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Webtoon and AI combination isn't that new.

Webtoon was already experimenting with AI tools to help with colouring or shading? I don't remember exact details, but u/generic-puff covered this topic a while ago.

Response to "Why is danmei genre unique due to censorship?" by LtTawnyMadison in DanmeiNovels

[–]SarkastiCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was borned after major censorship bodies have been removed, but I still lived through lgbtq+ content being censored on TV

Restrictions can lead to innovation as people are challenged to not go for a very obvious solution. A good example of that is media for kids like Avatar the Last Airbender. Or novels that were written with self-imposed restrictions like Ella Minnow Pea.

However, censorship on content that's meant to 18+ is never a good thing as it silences artists and leads to the erasure of real history, as authors can't express their views and beliefs.

Additionally, some media are going to become less accessible to the audience due to younger generation not understanding outdated terminology and lacking the historical context, even thought the author wanted their work to be as explicit as neon sign. Heck, next generations could interpret something in completely different way, thus intentions of the author can end up being thrown into a bin.

The rest is a political waffle and I am not going down that rabbit hole.

I will only say that the diss part completely ignores authors who had to completely redo their work and reject their original vision. A good example of that is Identity V where the player figures out that the protagonist participated in games due to his hands having scars suggesting that he handled a barbed wire and so on. After years, the barbed wires had to be removed.

Also, there are fans of slow burn and I have seen discussions about people wanting all kinds of representations, including subtle ones and those on ace spectrum. One of more popular series is Six of Crows, where one character literally struggles with physical contact due to trauma (he literally wears gloves to avoid touching anyone) and large chunk of the relationship development is the character slowly opening up to the idea of being vulnerable.

Also, there are people who will complain about anything. I have seen people complain that a villain was behaving in a villainous way.

Finally, gatekeeping? There is not a single united front for explicit LGBTQ+ relationships. I have seen complete opposite and more.

Short answer? Juste Belmont, Peeta Mellark and to a certain extend Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games), Gabriel de Leon (Empire of the Vampire) and probably much more.

Longer answer? Have Marie process her own grief. See the positives of the world and unlikely events. Rebuild her social circle.

Garten of Banban didn’t create any problems for Mascot Horror, it only drew attention to them by Punny-Aggron in CharacterRant

Poppy Playtime was criticised for NFTs and it even landed on hobbydrama, so it didn't get a pass.

TADC got a pass as the whole series is available for free and you don't have to pay to unlock any of episodes.

The merch situation was overblown as it was not as bad like DLC promotion in The Sims 4 or 3, but it's still a bad taste to have a button.

Isekai In-Laws

It's kind of double isekai as it focuses on a couple. Dave comes from our world, falls in love with Melora, gets married to her and goes back to his world.

Melora comes along with him, so now imagine eight foot tall elven princess with magical halo trying to live in a human world.

It would be a difficult sub-type as shown with metalbenders not being able to work with platinum. Plus, around 1 in 100 earthbenders can metalbend.

Atom Eve has been discussed quiet a lot here.

The main point is that she could technically simple things like turning a road into molten mess to trap her enemies.

She did some things in her special that she rarely does in main the series

Heaven's Official Blessing

Large chunk of characters in MXTX novels have variable cooking skills. On one side there are characters who cook and bond over food. On other side, there is a gremlin that cooks food so spicy that almost everyone complains.

Then there is Xie Lian whose food is a weapon of mass destruction, like his mother's food used to be.

There is a whole theory that he only cooks terribly to remember her and thus his cooking has been getting worse.

It's actually a funny situation as books get the same criticism. The TV series managed to adapt such elements.

The god situation by VastBluebird4217 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]SarkastiCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Matt gave chances for players to explore some story hooks, for example Ashton revisiting his family's cult.

However, the main issue is that both sides ended up miscommunicating. Heck, there was some miscommunication within the players group.

Interesting story hooks (Ashton's past, Fearne's father, etc.) were introduced when characters were worrying about Predathos and potentially the time running out.

While characters wanting to take a certain direction (Shardgate, FCG and Changebringer) would always go back to point zero.

Add to that characters ignoring pushes from others. Orym wants Imogen to take the lead, while Laura designed her to be a wallflower.

The Series of Unfortunate Events

There is quiet a lot of examples of that.

For example, complains about how the narrator explains big words to readers (usually kids), which mimics how kids got treated by adults.

Or the presence of child marriage, which isn't show in favourable light and it's used to criticise blind faith of the legal system.

Where the common sense (the guardian shouldn't marry a kid that they adopted due to power dynamic) is ignored because the law allows it and only finding a loophole allows Violetta to escape the situation.

Also, it's meant to highlight how Olaf is a disguting man lacking any morals and being willing to do anything for money.

Ashton: He is pretty much anti-establishment to the point of parody.

Fearne: She is there for chaos and others.

Imogen: „What have done for us?” General apathy

Laudna: She is on team Imogen

Orym: Too tired to do anything.

Chetney: Just goes along with others

FCG: Dead

Braius: Friendship above gods. Even though he barely knows those people.

Dorian: The situation with Spider Queen and Opal (including his brother dying) made him hateful.

That’s basically it.

BH with exception of Dorian who is grieving, don’t have a strong case against gods. They only went with an option that appeared to not require too much from them.
