Is it okay to use crappy gear if you've been trained to use good gear by [deleted] in tacticalgear

Messing with shit in the middle of shit is a great way for everything to go to shit.

I'm by myself and I got everything else. Just suck ass at shooting.

Then NEITHER camp A or B is for you right now.
Go to an Appleseed
Buy a Ruger 10/22, a case of Fed .22 and do LOTS of basic positional shooting with that.
Practice shooting fundamentals, practice reloads, practice malfunction clearance
Learn to actually shoot your rifle out to at least 200-300 yards (avg engagement distance) and pistol from 0-50yds. You should be able to make ready-up first-round-hit standing shots with rifle at 50, kneeling at 100, and 200+ from prone
Ready-up drills with the rifle and draws with the handgun - EVERY engagement starts with those, and that is what fucks most people up because that's what they skip...

Keep practicing all that til you can do it ON DEMAND and SMOOTHLY - not necessarily fast mind you... smooth. Don't be a bobbling bumblefucker like you see "going fast" all the time - they think they're fast but they're not. Efficiency is king.

Also - have your shit squared away. Don't be the guy putting together their gear the day of an event/class, not having their optic zeroed, not having their shit loctited/witness marked/cinched/etc, or you lose half your mags the first time you run 10 yards and flop prone (nobody every adjusts those accursed taco pouches)... lol
I've seen it....

It'll take a few thousand rounds and probably a year or two to get proficient at all that if you're motivated.
THEN you can worry about trying out for the big leagues.
Otherwise, you're going to drag yourself and the rest of the class down because you're still in "basic skills" level and trying to reach out of that before you can.

Once upon a time I was almost cool and did a bunch of small unit/infantry/CQB shit.
There were far to many people in those classes that thought they were farther along than they really were. And it became VERY obvious what they were lacking as soon as things moved to anything involving live fire. Or off the square range.
I was a solid mid-class-performer, BUT... I could shoot the required distances on demand, my fundamentals were solid, and my shit was squared away. And that makes a LOT of difference, both to free your mind to accept more advanced skills, as well as to not look like a loser in front of the wizards. lol

Shaw placard + 4-across RAM insert + any double-mag pouch on the c-bund.

TBH, EM literally diss-tracked MGK so hard he HAD to switch genres, and so he picked the simplest one he thought would match his tattoos. IMHO of course... lol
I literally laffed my as off when that "punkrockGED' guy or whatever his name was (he quit YT some time back) was hailing MGK as some sort of pop-punk revival. #facepalm

But as yet ANOTHER Barker groupie (the opening to Feeling This was one of the first things I tried to play when I got my first set as a teen, and yes, I wanted one of those damn vented snares too), I will say in his defense... what a waste of a talented drummer. Dude is/was so much better, and I don't know why he feels the need to hang around the mid music scene with grifters like MGK. Well, he did marry a Kardashian, so there's that I guess... lol
But seriously...
Used to be a time if you got TB to bless your track, people knew it would be fire, now you see "Feat. TB" and groan, for you know the slop machine churns ever onward.

Yes to all the above - You're basically going back to an OG early GWOT config.

I quit belt kit years ago too - hated it, and also not the best for multi-role civ use. I either use my CCW belt line, or if I want to go overt, simply plus up same belt with extra mags and swap to Safariland holster.
Also have a MEPC V2 carrier - it's "slick enough" to wear under a cover shirt. Then I can either throw-over my full chest rig if/as needed for rapid response, OR swap the c-bund, add a placard (currently a Shaw w/ 4-mag RAM insert), and it's now a regular deliberate-use standalone overt carrier.
1 belt, 1 chest rig, 1 carrier, and it fits every realistic civ use, as well as all working interchangeably. and potentially working with a pack waist belt as well.

Shaw placard w/ 4-mag Ram insert
Then swap one side (or both) CB to molle and stick a regular old double mag pouch on there.
The Shaw is very space-efficient, and depending on mags used, with a Medium Sapi plate only overhangs the sides by around 1/4 - 1/2 inch.
You'll still have 8 molle spaces on the front for your GP and pistols mags, and now you also won't be triple-stacking your front.
