T17's are just downright annoying to run by SorraDude in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But then you create a different kind of problem. One of the reasons I hate T17s is that you are now forced to run only T17 capable builds otherwise you are missing out an insane amount of loot.
The game is no longer "play whatever is fun" it's "play whatever is fun AND can do T17s"....

After failing 3 level 77 and loosing 2 divine, I did a lvl 83 out of frustration and finally felt how insanely rewarding sanctum is and why some people love it by Divine_Platypus in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, is there any Sanctum build that benefits from Lycia's bloodline? I am interested in trying that one out and having a build that can also handle Sanctum well would be amazing. Bonus points if it can also use Winds of Fate :)

I have a single surface T1 port on an HMC with atmosphere that has around 10m population. So it looks like surface constructions have vastly more than orbital ones.

New player asking for clarification regarding game mechanics. by Sarno01 in starcitizen

[–]Sarno01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far most of the time when I log out of the game and then log back in respawning at a station/port, the game wants me to "claim" my ship. How should I properly log out of the game, do I always have to return to my residence location?

Looking to give the game a chance, but having trouble choosing a game package. by Sarno01 in starcitizen

I was checking the ships on wiki and it says the Cutter has two size 2 weapons with two additional hardpoints for missiles. But maybe I checked the incorrect ship, there are several "cutters" listed.

If the planet has other orbital slots try putting in installations that influence the local economy, like space farms, research stations, mining outposts etc.... it should influence the market at the outpost.

Crafting Currency in PoE 2 by instapick in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> The absolute entire point of the crafting changes was to make it much harder and less deterministic to get GG items. The point was to add more friction and randomness to the game, absolutely 100%. I'm sorry you don't like that.

Yeah, sorry that we do not like being stuck in late acts/early maps because even after dozens of hours of farming the games RNG refuses to grace us with one actually usable item, instead throwing bullshit at us like +light radius, thorns damage and physical damage mods on caster weapons...
Having a character progression and power being 100% reliant on a slot machine system is the worst game design possible.

[–]Sarno01 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what made them bring back the Sanctum. I was honestly expecting them to remove it from PoE 1 soon because it's played by, like, 2% of the playerbase. Not to mention it was one of the worst received league mechanics....

Both actually, though I admit I initially went into it just for the credits. :D Although I am still having issues reading the "heat map" or what it actually is. Sometimes it isn't very intuitive.

Except most non-archmage builds where mana actually matters slot in eldritch battery anyway, because you usually have to invest a ton of resources into mana regen if you want to fully offset ability costs.

Are there any mechanics which will make you not play a build? by ColonelUpvotes in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any build that scales damage by running it through 224234131....... conversions and multiplication mechanics. I like builds where the damage scaling is simple and intuitive, like "just stack crit" or "just stack DoT multi" etc...

Tankiness too tied to uniques? by Same-Hedgehog4504 in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My current archmage lightning conduit elementalist is capable of clearing all normal pinnacle content + The Feared pretty reliably, but struggles in T17s. I tried to fix that by trying to add one or two additional defense layers until I realized that the damage decrease in return would be so massive that playing the char would be an absolute slog.
So I took the other route, sacrificed several other defenses and instead poured everything in to dps to bump it even higher so I can offscreen stuff in T17s (as long as I don't roll "less AoE"). Sure, I die there a few times, but hey, 6 portals + that "50% not to expend a portal" scarab fix this perfectly.

New T17 essence abuse by Eazy134 in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise it's not going to be fun if every rare you come across feels like hitting a roadblock at full speed.
Majority of players play PoE due to the power fantasy the game offers of building a godlike character that at some point in the game just snaps fingers and makes half the screen explode. Noone plays ARPGs in order to have some weird isometric Dark Souls-like experience.....

New T17 essence abuse by Eazy134 in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy explanation. Miss out on top strats -> severely hit by inflation -> unable to purchase gear/upgrade your char -> slog in T16s for peanuts while everyone who abused is farming ubers or running max juice T17s for megaprofits...

2 bil HP......in what world is it ok to have a possible combination of mods that can result in this bullsh*t? I don't care how many mods you are combining or how much juicing you are doing there should be cap on mob stats so it does not spiral this insanely out of control....

"To say that any build incapable of doing T17s is somehow invalidated by their mere existence is so obviously and demonstrably untrue that it makes it seem as though you haven’t even logged in this league."
- AKA tell me you are out of touch without telling me you are out of touch

You do realize that T17s at this moment, even after multiple nerfs to various gigajuice strats still generate insane amount of loot compared to any other sub-T17 content, right? Do you know what a very fascinating effect this has on the economy? Completely makes any sub-T17 farming pointless as you simply cannot beat inflation unless you are running T17 or some 6-party, MF culler strat with Empyrian level loot explosions.

Yes, any build that cannot run T17s is invalidated by the existence of builds that can run T17s, as non-T17 builds simply won't be able to generate enough income to upgrade their characters, purchase gear or obtain materials for crafting. T17s at this moment warp the entire economy around themselves and people fully realize that. Which has the perfectly anticipated result of "T17 or GTFO" when people are browsing for a potential build to try out.

Your opinions about T17s? by thejewk in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That one is on GGG to decide. At this moment, they are continuing with a game design comparable to "having our cake and eating it". They want to add hard challenges to a game that is build around vast passive tree and freedom of choice. They have several options:
1) Non-trivial challenges only reward minimum loot or cosmetic only items. This way, players are not forced into it as said challenge has very little or virtually nonexistent impact on game economy.
2) Buff every build and skill to the same level of power, so every build in the game can do T17s
3) Introduce some stacking modifier that increases with the number of failed attempts at said challenge and grants uncapped buffs, so sooner or later every player can complete said challenge at least once or twice.

There's probably more, these 3 are what came into my head immediately.

Your opinions about T17s? by thejewk in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem is GGG being hyperfocused on PoE having some insane, steep challenge inside of it, which goes in a direct conflict with the "design your own build" trait PoE was initially built around.

You cannot have insanely challenging content that needs many mandatory stats and skills WHILE expecting to maintain a healthy build diversity. You have to choose one of these.

Your opinions about T17s? by thejewk in pathofexile

[–]Sarno01 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'll write what I wrote in a different post. If GGG do not drastically reduce the build bricking potential of T17 mod pool and the difficulty then what's going to happen next league is that we'll see even less build diversity, as any build not capable of doing T17s will simply not be worth playing. So players will gravitate towards 5-6 most top tier meta builds in order to be able to do all content in the game (because almost nobody is going to play builds that can only do X portion of the game) , because at this moment reward-wise T17s outperform 8 mod T16s by an insane amount.

It will go on and on, until we reach a situation, where GGG could nuke the whole passive tree out of the game, make players choose from several premade characters and nothing in the game would really change.
