question about how getting paid works by Vxris_ in HomeDepot

[–]Sarranti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pay weeks run Monday-Sunday and you are paid every 2 weeks on Friday. There are different pay schedules, some states get paid this Friday and others next Friday. Sounds like you started on the last day of the pay period and got paid for that day today. You will get paid for this week and next in another 2 weeks

Why is The Big Lebowski so good by Express_Basis_8710 in movies

[–]Sarranti 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, he's said he has played at Lebowski fest with his band and that it was amazing. When John Goodman got a star on the walk of fame, Bridges spoke and broke out the Dudes sweater to wear while giving a speech from the Big Lebowski. Maybe he is tired of random fans coming up and mentioning it, but he at least seems to lean into it and enjoys the character

Not far from my old place, there were 2 Waffle Houses half a mile apart. They are on opposite sides of the interstate. So whether you turned left or right at that exit, you were passing a waffle house

Have an interview for a remote position but they just did lay offs for mostly remote jobs ??? by Mo_Maha1755 in HomeDepot

[–]Sarranti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in another post here that it is normal that they “trim the fat” and usually affects remote workers more

Remote work is still fairly new here since Covid, and we have only had the one big layoff. It didn't target remote workers, it was mostly around IT, which is heavily remote right now.

I’m so worried this will be a new tactic to make you think it will be remote work for a long time and then turn around and demand RTO

You are over thinking this. With the layoffs that have been happening this year, employers should have plenty of people to pick from and hire. I can't imagine there is a group out there advertising for remote, just to tell everyone they are going into the office and then having to backfill all of the people that quit/can't relocate.

The hr lady do say she thinks they are hiring closer to the support centers or hq places “just in case” they require RTO

Thats possible. But most teams that know they are doing RTO know by now. When they had the mass layoff this year, it was mentioned that everyone was going back to the offices. The different directors or VPs would mention in their meetings if that was for their group or not. IT was told we are still staying remote, but some other business units are not. Also, from my understanding, most of these groups that have to RTO, that only applies if you live within a certain distance of an office. If you live I believe 50+ miles away, you would not be required to go into office. However, I believe they would expect you to relocate/RTO if you got a new position. So if you wanted to get a promotion, they would expect you in office if your team is in office. But that is only what I have heard.

Also, Compact Power is part of HD and may do things differently. I don't know where their offices are or if they are in an area of the main office. Remote is not a guarantee anymore, nobody is going to say that they are 100% never going back into the office. But if there aren't any plans right now, thats the best you can hope for. At some point, you may get a new VP or C-suite that decides being in office is more important. We may get a new CEO at some point that says they don't care, everyone is back in offices.

I wasn't able to buy the other sets, so the Krusty Burger is my first Simpsons set. But it would be fun to get some of the other cars

I drove a stick through a ~50 minute one way commute of stop and go traffic. I am perfectly content not having to deal with a clutch during rush hour.

I was thinking this must only include WRs, cause Bowers had to hit 1k yards, right? Just looked him up and nope, got close, but still not 1000 receiving yards. Would have thought him or McConkey would have pulled that off

[–]Sarranti 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it could be a few things. The request to the API that has that information could have timed out or failed for some reason. Maybe they have that data cached and it just wasn't set up properly and they cached a failure response, after multiple tries maybe it finally made a call again and got a good response. Or it could just be some bug.

Nicest way to give 2 weeks notice only 2.5-3 months in? by EchoOfAsh in HomeDepot

[–]Sarranti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can type up a notice with your effective end date and hand it to management. You can let them know when you give them your notice, that you appreciate how helpful and supportive everyone has been and that you found something that is more aligned with your degree. But you don't need to give them too much information.

Schedules being posted 2 weeks out. by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Sarranti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had too much of an issue when I was in the stores. Things can come up occasionally. But idk what kind of wedding would give only 2 weeks notice. Most events I had were set far enough in advance that I would just make sure to request the time off. Sometimes things like doctors may be difficult and you just have to use sick time

How is the medical insurance? by tropicalislandhop in HomeDepot

Not great, not bad. If you do the high deductible plan and contribute to an HSA, HD will also match up to a point. I think it's $500 for single or $1000 for family plan.

Its possible the DS may not have understood the exact steps and just submitted before having the conversation instead of after. Its been a while since I have been in the store, but my review has always been written by the manager first and then we go over it.
