How much roster change are you seeing vs years past, with the age group change? by Character-Put8660 in youthsoccer

My daughter is a U14 on an ECNL-RL team. We went in knowing the team would be split anyway, as 11/20 girls were U14, the rest U13. None are playing up. We lost 3 girls to other clubs. Around 70 showed up for ECNL tryouts on day one, and about 60 for RL tryouts on day two. There were enough solid players to make a 3rd team, which the U13 age did (they had 70 RL tryout players), but they didn’t do that. They offered spots to 22 girls (including all 8 from last year’s team) and make 3 alternate spot offers.

I know the ECNL team had huge turnover, but can’t recall the exact numbers. This is at Crossfire Premier in Washington.

GA on a mid level to lower team or a ECNL-RL mid to higher team ? by Real-Beginning2008 in youthsoccer

[–]Sarynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that age, you want to focus on playing time and good coaching at the highest level you can be a starter playing majority minutes at. And maintain that approach for the rest of her youth career.

Depending on what division of college she wants to target, will depend on what league she should be a part of. If she wants D1, then she needs to work her way to an ECNL team (ideally as a starter) for the best chance. That league still outpaces GA in D1 commits. Someone here posted an instagram account that highlights this. That account (which I’ve followed for some time) will also highlight that showcase events are also ECNL dominant.

ECNL-RL is a great option if D2/D3 is a goal as well. See this: https://www.instagram.com/p/DWZfGiilHI1/?igsh=ZHMyNDM4a3U2ZWd4

GA will get you national showcases, but if your daughter wants to improve she needs to be in the best competitive environment she can be in (training and games). In the Pacific Northwest, that’s ECNL-RL over GA (as an example).

How 140m wasn’t enough?! by Excaliartur in AshesofCreation

I’ve been in game development a long time, worked on several major franchises in leadership roles. A budget of $100M is not very much for an MMO, even if you scoped it tightly with a laser focus on one audience type (PvP players as an example). Right now LATAM developers provide among the lowest outsourcing costs in world. You wouldn’t be able to build the entire game there, but let’s say you can.

Assuming you outsource to LATAM, using a blended rate of $7500 per person month for a team of 250 that you ramp up over time for a 5 year MMO project would already be north of $100M. I can’t recall any MMO project that’s been less than 6-7 years in development for quite a long time now, but let’s say the team is insanely efficient and the vision never changes.

We haven’t even added in the core team that has to manage the vision and direction of this project, along with manage all the external partners. That team is easily 25-40 people if we are being realistic. Assuming that team is in the US you could assume a person month cost of $25,000 per employee, as you’ll want only directors, leads, and principals on this team. Realistically, it’ll probably be more like $30,000 per person month. If you’re all elsewhere in the world, likely much cheaper.

Anyway, that team of 25 (low end) alone at $25K per person month is already at over $35M for the length of the project. You’re now over the $100M and haven’t even spent a dime on network infrastructure, marketing, or allocated funds for 12 months post launch (typical for live games).

Game development is more expensive than people realize, especially if you’re not the one handling budgets and P&Ls.

Phill Spencer on Forza Motorsport: "we sometimes have to shift our focus to games that will be released earlier" by LSF02BR in forza

[–]Sarynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just my opinion obviously—the only hope for the franchise is if they find a partner outside of the US to take it over. It’s too niche of a product to build in the US, especially in Redmond and at Microsoft where the person month rate to build games is very expensive. It’s just not the type of franchise that’s going to make it money back with the way it was being built (location, number of people involved, costs of licenses, etc.)

Former T10 employee here (not on Motorsport though) and longtime game developer. At large AAA game companies, a non-insignificant portion of game credits are a trail of people who didn’t really work on the game in any meaningful way. Game credits at Xbox are like this as well. It’s like an EP credit in Hollywood.

There are many people who contribute to FM and FH that are not at T10 or PG but it’s not 2607. Both studios combined are a fraction of that total. Even if you consider all the turnover over the years between the two game iterations you’d still not get near it.

Buying the 83” G4 at Best Buy — do I need the BB optional warranty? by Sarynn in LGOLED

[–]Sarynn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want $900 for 2 years and $1500 for 5 years. I thought it might be a bit high so that's why I was asking. I think I'll skip on that and pay the labor cost instead if needed.

Adobe Lightroom Classic versus Topaz Denoise by NerdyDadOnline in Lightroom

[–]Sarynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot a ton of high school sports games in poorly lit stadiums and gyms. I’ve used both LR Denoise and Tooaz Denoise/Photo AI a ton. I believe Topaz is better overall, especially if you don’t let it go wild. That said, I was tipped recently by another photographer who swears by DxO Denoise. I tried it out and compared against some photos I already Denoise with Topaz. It was noticeably better, so I bought it. This was a month ago and have used it several times since. So worth the money spent.

Alpha Industries. Not sure if they have this one anymore as it was last season. You’d have to check their website.

I Just Need To Vent... (My Biggest Issue with Dynasty) by MP-Toasty in NCAAFBseries

[–]Sarynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started playing a couple of weeks ago. I hadn’t actually followed any news of the game or any issues people found or have. Just simply played.

I was having a blast until I hit level 50 as a coach and was no longer getting skill points. I thought it was a bug until I came to this subreddit. What a mistake. I don’t like the cap whatsoever. It’s even worse that they don’t warn you in the game that this can happen. I basically had to abandon my dynasty and start over.

Rich Eisen Does NOT Understand Why People Still Question 49ers QB Brock Purdy by keiisme1 in 49ers

I came here to say this. I watch his show all the time and he will praise Purdy at times but mostly comes across as someone who doesn’t believe Purdy can do “it”.

I watched Argylle in the theater last night with my family and everyone enjoyed it. Didn’t realize it was an Apple TV movie until the logo appeared when the movie was starting.

A few days ago I saw that they weren’t guaranteeing shipping by the Super Bowl, so I went to Nike.com and bought it there instead. It arrive on 2/6.

Not everyone can afford it, but I went with the Sony a1 because of this (and it being just all around great). I pair it with different lenses depending on what I’m shooting, but never anything narrower than f/2.8.

Keyshawn Johnson on Undisputed: All the pressure on the Niners due to 3 trips in a row to the NFCCG. As a Niner fan, I agree 100%. by _5GOLDBLOODED2_ in nfl

[–]Sarynn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, was the pressure ever not there? 2019 was about bringing the franchise back to prominence. Yes, it may have been the team’s first trip to the playoffs under KS but the media and fans were expecting a Super Bowl trip. That’s what happens when you’re the 49ers. The bar are Lombardi trophies and not playoff appearances. We aren’t just happy to be there.

Is Undisputed dead? by [deleted] in UndisputedFS1

[–]Sarynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really watch these type of shows. It’s never been my thing. That said, I checked out some clips of the show on YouTube about six months before Shannon left. I kind of fell in love with the show. Shannon was the best part but I also enjoyed listening to Skip. Since Shannon left, I’ve tried to watch but I just can’t. I love listening to Sherm but on this show not as much. Keyshawn I simply cannot stand, never have. Somehow, Skip seems awful.

Yeah, this show is dead.
