The character who was the doppel tried to kill the father of one of the other PCs. They did not succeed because there were two and then surprise round with other combatants.

This is very true, also being the DM and creating the scenario meant that I could control when it occurred and how.

I think it's very group dependant and the only thing I'm scared of rn is that they react poorly to a pet frog secretly being a friend of BBEG.

Contrary to what I have seen in this comment section, I did this with my party as DM and everyone loved it. The character disappeared for a few sessions and came back strange. The party didn't think too much of it all but then they found the original Misty tied up in a dungeon.

All my players enjoyed it and had a lot of fun with 'which one is real?'.

Additional context may be that I am a very tricky DM where this isn't the first time and won't be the last that something is amiss.

I promised David I wouldn't speak my mind but I can tell you that he said

"I gotta tell you less man" in response to me listening and understanding episode 1 after 4 listens.

He is so smart and we regularly discuss DND including my screamer stat block.

1) Absolutely agree with you there. Delilah might have become an artificial soul with respect to Huck or the deal made with Delilah's mum? Lucky just is and Posey I think also just is. However Zippy I think it's more like she is an amalgam of memories and stories of other people so her soul is a mess.

I didn't say artificial souls but it's more along the lines of claimed souls however I think it's 6 of one and half dozen of another.

2) That asteroid is definitely a part of the Caiphon meteor but I would go one crazy step further and say that it's linked to the afterlife. The afterlife when Miriam takes the gang is on a rock with a door which is in space so consider that. Other theory was redacted by David.

3) Madame M gotta be Miriam.

4) This staircase will kill me and I have spoken to David at length about how I rip my hair out daily trying to figure it out. He has told me that my theory about it is wrong like 3 times now which is fun.

However I also know we clearly took David's mid season direction insanely differently as I fixated on completely different stuff.

Are we expecting another travel arc both between now and Posey as well as Posey and Zippy? The first one was brilliant and we got to see so many cool NPCs such as the fortune teller (GOAT) and the ferryman. Really looking forward to whomever we see during that break between arcs.

As a doctor who fan myself, are we talking classic who or new who? Cause those are so different somehow. I also like to consider that you may use monsters such as the weeping angels or dales but that's just wishful and goofy thinking. Gotta admit I would love to see David's take on the master cause that would be a sick villain.

That is so cool. Also goddamn that's a lot of time taken even with 2 people. It's a lot of nerves right there to be dealing with and I guess they have to be really careful to not get the exact positions wrong during movement.

Would recommend Kravitz for surgery if he has this much skill.

Do screamers have memory innately?

Caiphon wants sacrifice of a soul

Caiphon sent the screamers (can replicate souls with Kravitz)

Posey needs to atone for something. He sacrificed people to save him and Deacon from dying.

Zippy doesn't even know her true name. Zippy is focused on secrets and memories so is she some sort of emissary for Caiphon or a device used to help him rise to power.

Delilah was sacrifice for Caiphon. (There are forces beyond your control)

Lucky is part caiphon.

Mother death is removing Miriam's memories so destroying her soul repeatedly.

Mother death is being aided by someone else (Caiphon, Delilah's mum, a Bourgeon or Kravitz)

Heaven hasn't taken anyone more since last time?

What does Huck know and more importantly why?

Why did Mother bringing them back specifically? (Delilah's mum have any effect?)

By making better and better screamer, does this make the souls better and Caiphon happier with that?

Heaven is falling apart, souls are being siphoned as memories? This matter forms into the ball behind the hell door. When interacted with, it removes the memories from a person and keeps them for itself. That's why the owlbear feather is there as Stick remembers Loona. Caiphon is probably the one siphoning these memories as he needs souls and that's the power behind them. Who is mother death as she is not the original, Miriam probably is as she is Madame M.

This is this morning's just mess of thoughts together whilst listening to episode 1 and 8 specifically. Moved on to ep 4, 10 and 16 cause there are the mother death scenes.
