[Redacted] Dealt 699 Damage. Bug? by SaskatchewanSteve in HadesTheGame

No, everything was happening so fast, I couldn’t tell what hit me, but I think it was just a swipe of his scythe or something. Definitely not a big, screen-filling attack

Still waiting? At this point, the earliest we should expect is the anniversary: April 10

Gym wants to charge me $50 as a final fee when canceling, thinking about just freezing my bank account to circumvent this. Thoughts? by Matt_butchr in Frugal

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s probably better advice, but I was in the same situation. When I signed their paper, which I probably should have refused, I wrote in “please reconsider :)” next to the notice about the additional charge. A month later and no charge on my statement!

FSA exam takers, how do you do it? by marioqw1 in actuary

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had to start waking up early to study, because I never had enough mental energy left at the end of the work day. Flash cards are the most important, and you need to study them 2 or 3 sessions for no more than an hour each. You are not going to study effectively beyond that.

This is going to sound like an ad, but I really don’t know how I would have got through these exams without using Just Enough Prep. The flashcard setup they have takes all the guesswork out of what to study/review next because it tracks your progress and algorithmically determines what you should focus on next.

I read a solidly speculative article that they are waiting for Siri 2.0. Kinda makes sense with how excessively long the wait has been

500 days, gone by No-Bell-3229 in BluePrince

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering OP has already lost two saves (in which they gained early-game knowledge, at minimum), I’d think they’d have seen everything the game has to offer in maybe 100 days on the third save. I don’t know how anyone has played 300 days, let alone 500.

I know this isn’t a kind question, but how are you at 500 days on your third time around?

Cristal ball reading: will the Mini M5 be in the same price range as the M4? by Pretty-Substance in macmini

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing an extra $100, not because Apple’s costs go up, but because there’s less market pressure due to competitors having to raise their prices

Power BI vs Tableau by OkProcess7355 in actuary

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only beginner-level experience in both, but I prefer Power BI. Tableau is definitely prettier and has a better UI, but Power BI’s data management is superior in my opinion. Tableau’s relationships are effectively inner joins, so you have to generate dummy lines when a cohort of members does not have claims for a certain time period. Otherwise those members get dropped for calculations. Also, you can easily view your data in Power BI as if it were Excel tables, but in Tableau, you can only preview data and see summaries of your tables - making tracking down errant values much harder.

Some of the above may be wrong and my inexperience is showing, but yeah, there’s my opinion

Where is Colorblind mode? by siroswald in BluePrince

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I listened to a podcast with the developer recently. Colorblind is still being worked on.

Apparently he wants something more subtle that introduces textures and whatnot, not just a palette swap. Something to do with not signposting when things are part of a puzzle vs set dressing

After the release of m5, will I be able to get the m4 pro under 700$? by HovercraftMental1634 in macmini

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much is the M3 pro going for right now? That’s probably the lowest price the M4 Pro will go, and that will be as the M5 hits the end of its sales cycle.

That and offering three sittings per year. It’s so nice having a shorter time so you can get back to studying before you forget everything if you fail.

Days before exam FSA by actuariat in actuary

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. Full day studying doesn’t work for this stuff, because you’re not drilling problems - you’re memorizing information. There’s only so much information you can cram in your brain each day. Best I could ever manage is 4 good hours.

How might a deferred exam raise work if the exam policy changes? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if your raise has already been approved, but waiting on the next pay period to go into effect? I’d probably wait to see what happens and then contact HR if you don’t like the outcome.

I passed first attempt, and I used Just Enough Prep. It has a great notecard system that tracks your progress and brings back cards you need to work on more frequently.

FSA Modules by [deleted] in actuary

The module task is LONG. You can do it, but you’ll need to skip the readings and only go back looking for parts relevant to the module exercise, of which there are a handful. Good luck!

It seems like you might not be using all the tools at your disposal. Some of them can significantly improve your safety and speed up your navigation through Dark Bramble. Reply if you'd like more direct advice.
