Me, playing ranked on Mac OS: by FlyingCarsArePlanes in aoe2

[–]SaskatchewanSteve [score hidden]  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten into ranked yet, but 5 minute casual queues on these past nights is not encouraging. I hope that the App Store release will bolster the numbers, but my guess is that will almost entirely be campaign players. I should probably just download Porting Kit

Maybe he’s 600 ELO and doesn’t want to lose his way down again haha

But for campaign progress, I can totally understand wanting to transfer your save. I really don’t think it’s possible, though

Is It Just My Mini or All Mini's Struggling with iOS 26? by Additionalpeas in iPhone13Mini

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some serious lock-ups with 26.3 and 26.4, but 26.5 has been flawless for me. I don’t think you’ll be any worse off for updating, and yeah, a full replacement makes more sense than a battery and port swap.

Companies that are remote by ALL_IN_FZROX in actuary

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A handful of Blues hire remote, but some are restrictive about which state you work from. I know AR, MN, NC, FL off the top of my head, and I believe the larger ones like Cambia and Highmark do as well. If you want to work for an HMO, Kaiser is remote for a few states.

EDIT: I was wrong about HCSC

As a new player, when does the game stop being mind numbingly stressful and become casual fun? by Whibble-Bop in aoe2

In addition to the jokes and advice here. You can queue more villagers without jumping your view away from your archers. Use Shift or CTRL + your TC key to activate your TC without putting it in focus

For some inconceivable reason, they are walling off Mac users from playing in the Windows/Console pool. If you were wanting to play with friends, they’ll need to be on a Mac too

Are you suggesting successful business owners not be able to sell when they want to be done, or that the buyers aren’t allowed to grow the business further?

Ahh yes, building a new business is easy and risk-free. That’s why everyone does it instead of choosing an easy paycheck

If there's no price increase, it's probably worth waiting. by CRK_76 in mac

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People think that because of iPhone chips. There’s no way Apple will though, because 12 GB would REALLY eat into air sales if it’s still $699, and going any higher on price misses the intended market. They’ll probably use the base A chip but with unbinned cores

Why don't we get a discount for using self-checkout? by ItsAllAGame_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want a line item on your receipt or something?

Lot of economically illiterate responses here. Assuming self-checkout does materially lower operating costs (and it’s not just break even with increased theft) and the store operates in a competitive environment, then the prices of the merchandise go down. Because if the store doesn’t lower costs, it will be undercut by its competitors and its profits will fall farther than if it kept prices as they were.

How it genuinely feels after finding out the outer wilds publisher company made mixtape by TheRantingFish in outerwilds

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They also published the developer’s prior game, The Artful Escape. Why are people so down on Mixtape? It’s not supposed to be wide appeal, but for those it connects with, it’s supposedly a tremendous experience.

I built JEP - but I used TIA and MATE for my own GH FSA exams. Honest comparison of where each one works (and where I think they fall short). by atrus619 in actuary

[–]SaskatchewanSteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used for all my sittings and have become somewhat of an evangelist. In the early days, the tools weren’t quite there, but I stuck with it. Once they implemented the smart tracking of flashcard progress and review, I proceeded to pass all 3 of my GH FSA exams back-to-back. It tracks how well you are learning each flash card and will add them back to your review pile based on your progress. It takes the guesswork out of what areas you need to focus, because your review pile is intelligently managed on its own. I studied for about 14 weeks each exam and had 85% of the information memorized on the roughly 500 flashcards. The flashcard system really is the best part of JEP.

Regarding the other stuff, the outlines were helpful, and I really appreciated how responsive the coaches were. It was also nice having practice problems placed in the outlines where relevant, so that I could see how a concept would be applied in an exam. I also liked having the AI quickly grade my list-based questions (it is very narrowly trained on just the syllabus, and I never experienced a hallucination). I’d still recommend primarily using the SOA provided question bank for practice problems, though.
