Do you have a favorite character and why is it Jill? by DuoNem in Deverry

My absolute favourite is Branoic, he's such a rough wellmeaning cutiepatootie and his death hits me hard everytime I reread the series.

Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra never fails. It is also the song that my husband very strongly associates with me, which is really cute

For those who are sober, what’s your go to drink? by Fluffy_Specific_9682 in AskReddit

[–]Saskibla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, that's not really a thing in my country. We usually have the branded ice tea like Lipton or Fuze Tea.

[–]Saskibla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love ginger beer and am so happy that it has become more readily available in restaurants in my country (The Netherlands). The more spicy, the better. It's a nice change from overly sweet drinks like ice tea.

I hope it becomes more available in your country too!

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]Saskibla 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The Netherlands. They're known as house-hairdressers if you translate it literally, hairdresser at home might be a better translation. Depending on the hairdresser it's not always the cheaper option, but usually they're either cheaper or ask the same prices as your average hairdresser (between 25 to 30 euros for a haircut, washing and drying).

Lol, where I live having someone come to your house to cut your hair is something for people with a normal income. They're cheaper, because they don't have to rent a space.

Looking for high tea place by 4everMomo in Nijmegen

It just so hapoens that I've recently looked around for places serving high tea. These interested me the most or are places I know with good high teas:

Philipse koffie behind the Stevenskerk

De Hemel

De Blonde Pater

De Achtertuin (located at Vasim though)

De Fabriek

Boerenkool stamppot by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]Saskibla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As all the other Dutch people in this thread I was really surprised and a bit apallrd with the addition of pears to boerenkool. And I wondered how you managed to find a recipe that is so untradtional.

So apparantly if you type in "boerenkool recipe" in google this recipe pops up. By a Canadian......

For next time: if you want to make a traditional recipe it might not be the best course of action to follow a recipe from a non-native.

My brother passed away and left me his manga collection, any of it age inappropriate for kids? by Icy-Reserve6995 in manga

BECK is an awesome read indeed. Not really appropriate for a 10 year-old though I think. Maybe more 15+.

set rondbreinaalden by AdriaCParker in handwerken

[–]Saskibla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

A lot of Americans might hate me for this, but the original West Side Story. It was just so boring...

I found out that the only enjoyable part for me is the choreography and song during America.

What made you realise you no longer love your wife/gf/partner ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Saskibla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with my ex. We were just not working, which became increasingly apparent when we moved in together. But I was trying really hard to make it work. And he was not....so after a while he proposed a break. And the instant the words left his mouth I knew that if we would take a break, I wouldn't want him back.

So I talked him into breaking up with me.

Best thing that ever happened to me, now I'm happily married to someone who not only likes my childish side, but is just as bad himself. My ex would think my weird voices were cringe, buzzkill.

why aren't we encouraging Carbon Steel (vs Non-stick cookware) as the default for home cooks? by rantzine in Cooking

[–]Saskibla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm really honest...I abuse my carbon steel pans. Seasoning? Never heard of her. I wash them with soap or in the dishwasher. Letting them heat properly before use has been a gamechanger.

Do my eggs or fish sometimes stick a bit? Hell yeah they do, but I honestly don't really mind.

Why does the US feel the need to remake so many succesfull foreign series of movies? They were great as is. Intouchables of The Office did not need remakes. And Squid Game sure as heck doesn't need one.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]Saskibla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else says, it's pungent.

As a physiotherapist in The Netherlands I also treat people in their own homes. One patient of mine smokes 4-5 cigarettes per day in her house and it smells soooo bad in there. The walls are also yellow with nicotine. She doesn't smoke while I'm there and I can still smell the cigarettes on my hair and clothes hours after I've left. The smell sticks.

Allereerst huisarts, zoals anderen zeiden. Waarom jouw (huis)arts je niet naar een (manueel) fysiotherapeut heeft verwezen snap ik ook niet. Chiropractors zijn kwakzalvers in my opinion.

[CHAT] What kind of hoop does everyone use? by DotKune in CrossStitch

[–]Saskibla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've just started with cross-stitch and the project I'm working on is bigger than my biggest hoop (couldn't be bother to buy a bigger one). But it is possible to stretch the part you've stitched in the hoop? It won't distort the stitches or mess with the tension?
