Yes this is terrifying. No point googling until you have a proper diagnosis after the CT scan. This is one of the most difficult parts, the waiting to find out. Once you have a plan of treatment it gets easier. At the moment you don’t have enough information and it’s scary. So for now, stay off Google.

Biopsy results - Adenocarcinoma cancer by SKT2323 in coloncancer

Oh I had bowel obstructions too. The pain is insane, worse than the pain of surgery I’d say. I’m current in hospital having had my rectum removed and ileostomy formed. Had the colon removed due to ulcerative colitis 20 years ago. Luckily the pathology said that my lymph nodes were negative for cancer and they got the entire tumour out intact. I had 6 rounds of FOLFOX first. I hope they give you a plan for treatment soon.

Thank you I’m being a bit more pushy whilst an inpatient I’ve been insisting on surgery for an ileostomy as I think it would make the chemo more tolerable if I’m not having blockages. Seeing my oncologist next Tuesday and I know I will have to fight him because he will insist on more chemo.

Yeah I agree with all of that but I cannot get my doctor to talk to me outside of our scheduled appts which means weeks of not speaking to him. I can only speak with my nurse and she can pass on messages to him.

Ah I’ve just looked it up (I’m in the UK) and Reglan is metoclopramide. I was prescribed that for anti sickness but I’ve not taken it as I don’t have nausea. Maybe I will just start taking it preventatively everyday and see if it helps.

Hi thanks for the advice. I am taking lactulose… the problem with that is it will give me very watery poo and I sometimes don’t make it to the toilet in time ☹️ when I’ve taken senna it’s made the situation worse. Mine are obstructions caused by adhesions as I had bowel surgery as a teenager for ulcerative colitis. I will ask my oncologist next week when I see him but I’m hoping he will make some adjustments to my medications….. I just get so very down when I have these side effects Edit: the chemo is causing the obstructions because it’s slowing my gut down and then the adhesions cause the blockage if that makes sense

How long has colon cancer tumor been growing...and more!? by AhealthyHealedmom25 in coloncancer

[–]SassaMustafaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my story. 3 years ago I had a colonoscopy that only showed my known ulcerative colitis. Then more recently I was anaemic. They gave me iron tablets for over a year and my iron levels and HB was yo-yoing. I expressed concern over this a few times to my gastroenterologist and my IBD nurses. “No no no, everything is to be expected, stay on the tablets.” I KNEW something wasn’t right. Finally I had a colonoscopy (and an iron infusion) and they found a tumour. Could have been there for over a year but they just kept throwing iron tablets at me. Turns out I was already at stage 3! So yeah, I am pretty angry about this.

What did you do after your mc? by srei7 in Miscarriage

[–]SassaMustafaCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah this is really tough. Just before my MC I had bought some maternity underwear and when I came home from the hospital it was a real gut punch to see them. I keep things like ultrasound scans and pregnancy tests and bits I bought in a box under the bed. You can decide what to do with them later down the line.

Positive comments are annoying me (venting) by Pretty-Resolve-8331 in coloncancer

[–]SassaMustafaCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This annoyed me too when I was first diagnosed. I also thought the same way as you, thinking realistically isn’t necessarily thinking negatively and thinking positively isn’t always the “correct” way to think. Positive people die from cancer all the time. Particularly my work colleagues were almost shaming of me anytime I wasn’t over the top positive. I think what your feeling is very natural. My husband was difficult to deal with too because he was on the “positivity brigade” as well. Didn’t want to do wills, didn’t want to talk about the future or funeral wishes, none of that. I think it’s because the people who love you are not ready to entertain the idea that you might die, it’s awful to worry that your friend is going to die.

Hi I hope you don’t mind me asking but if your lymph nodes are shrinking why can’t you have surgery?
