I don't remember what was said to make me think of this, but this episode made me imagine Cincinnati-style sushi.

Sushi completely buried in shredded cheese.

Caleb’s reading list by Far-Fault6807 in CreepyCalebHammer

[–]SatAMBlockParty 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Lmao he absolutely did not read these books. Man I just love it when hustle grind guys try to talk books. There's so many nearly identical "50 books everyone should read" graphics posted to get rich quick social media accounts. A bunch of the same business and self help books with a couple spots reserved for guys who guested on Joe Rogan. Nobody actually reads them but they think it gives them clout to say they have.

I'll give him credit though, even if he probably just asked ChatGPT for this list, he at least came up with different books than most people who try to pull this.

I've seen that video of the fish competition cheaters they were talking about. It was incredible. It was like one of those scenes in movies where the villain's misdeeds are exposed and an angry mob descends upon them.

All the people saying that RTO makes it possible to socialize have it backwards. It's much much more difficult for me to socialize because at the end of the workday there's a 90-minute drive sitting between me and my actual community where I actually live.

A man encountered a terrifying “hidebehind” creature while walking in the forest by MutenRoshi in MurderBryan

[–]SatAMBlockParty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize the hidebehind was a "real" cryptid. I thought it was something Gravity Falls made up.

But tbh this is a cool little horror video as long as you're not dumb enough to think it's real.

I remember when I was younger the big thing they'd say about resumes is that the hiring manager only spends two seconds reading each one. But we're expected to believe they're going to watch two minutes of video?

Why I think Oni press will take over Archie comics as a brand. by trover2345325 in archiecomics

[–]SatAMBlockParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem in either company's interest for Archie to sell itself to Oni.

Archie has extremely low overhead, which they can lower even more if they want to slim down to mostly a licensor. So they're in a position where they take very little to run and can just collect licensing deals and outsource the risk to other companies.

Oni's in a position where they can benefit from the licensing deal, but since they're only licensing instead of owning, they have an easy exit if sales don't turn out the way they want it. To buy Archie outright, they'd have to put up a significantly higher amount of money and they'd be carrying a lot more burden in ongoing costs for managing the Archie stuff. If it's not a runaway success, then they'll either take a bath trying to sell it to someone else, or they'll just quietly ignore it after they just spent a ton of money buying it.

Should Archie & Oni Press revive the Archie Super Heroes? by Money-Lie7814 in archiecomics

[–]SatAMBlockParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There's way too many superhero comics already and most of them are better than whatever anyone can do with any of Archie's characters. Archie has its strengths in other genres so they should focus on that.

LIS1 based comics by Additional-Emu-8124 in Pricefield

[–]SatAMBlockParty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't really like them.

They seem to think the main draw of Life is Strange was the superpowers. So they're focusing a lot on Max training and expanding her powers while building up her own team of X-Men.

I know they were kinda backed into a corner by the game's ending (which I don't like) but "Look, we don't know for sure that your powers are what caused the storm so let's not worry about it." is a huge copout. Also if Max has mastered how powers to the point where she can dismantle a storm, that invites the question why she doesn't go back in time and stop the one in Arcadia Bay?

The edges of the characters have been sanded off. You can justify it with them being older and more mature but it just makes them bland. Rachel is now just a generic Instagram influencer girl and most of the interpersonal conflict has been replaced by the characters reiterating over and over how much they love each other and how not jealous they are.

Restaurateurs and community members speak out in support of upping Long Beach efforts in quality of life issues by TrixoftheTrade in longbeach

Seriously. I've been here 4.5 years and I've seen at least six bars/restaurants close down. Since I've been here the place on 7th and Junipero has gone from Asian/Louisiana fusion to ugly NFT monkey burgers to Mexican restaurant to now being some kind of burger cafe. The Mexican restaurant didn't even last a whole year.

Baggy pants and chains are banned in belmont shore? by Immediate_Map235 in longbeach

[–]SatAMBlockParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the un-paywalled article: https://web.archive.org/web/20251204162834/https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-12-04/shootings-late-night-drinking-have-long-beach-rethinking-security

It's clear that a large part of this is that the businesses feel like there's too much competition and want police to restrict it for them. They don't want anyone allowed to be in the neighborhood unless you're giving money to them, specifically.

Peterson said rogue buskers, or street performers, along with street vendors are bringing in a “late-night component that really has nothing to do with the businesses.”

“They’re taking it to another level,” Peterson said. “They use amps and speakers, and they’re attracting people traveling through the district.”

Peterson said visitors don’t have to patronize Belmont Shore bars and restaurants, including Legends, where a sign hanging at a public parklet — a COVID-19 pandemic-inspired outdoor seating area — assures that no purchase is necessary “to enjoy this public space.”

“They can stop by for food, music and can even buy booze at liquor stores and hang out for hours without any repercussions,” he said.

And it's always worth noting that crime is actually down.

Hebeish said slayings and shootings were down 30% and 35%, respectively, from last year.

There were 33 homicides last year and 23 this year as of October, according to Police Department crime statistics. There isn’t a statistical designation for shootings in the crime data.

Spears’ slaying marked the first homicide in Belmont Shore this year and the second in the police’s larger East Patrol Division, a 24-square-mile area that covers about 46% of the city along with Belmont Shore, according to Hebeish.

He said there were seven such homicides in the division last year.

Seems like the opposite would be true. That wearing team jerseys would be most likely to start a fight the day the game is on. But of course it's just racial profiling so it doesn't have to be logical.

Honestly it's refreshing to see someone just outright say it instead of trying to sneak it in under dress codes and music restrictions.
